Regarding the seaponies...

I was torn to find out that the seaponies aren't staying in the sea, but becoming hippogriffs instead. You see, I was in love with the idea of a pony-like race living under the sea, only to be slapped in the face. So I created two OCs, a seapony hippie couple called Tropical Wave and Shellflower who stayed in the sea instead of following the herd. Would they have been allowed to do that?

Well, take into account that these seaponies are transformed hippogriffs, so makes sense for them to return to their original home. Then again, some may like being seaponies and stay, or there'll be actual seaponies, as there's been confirmation of at least one seapony appearing in S8

I think they are. If they like it as seaponies, who would tell them it is forbitten? ;)

If I don't understand something or Interpret it wrong, I'm dutch. Sometimes I gamble for meanings of the words. And sometimes I write the wrong words, like week and weak for example. Sorry for it already. :smug:

  • The title was changed to Regarding the seaponies...

@Dec Browne

Added spoiler tag and edited title. In the future please be careful with spoilers; especially in regards to topic titles. Not everyone has seen the info you have seen; and some have avoided trailers at this point.

Thanks. :)

But the trailer does show it! There's Skystar shown in both forms, actually ^^

They seemed  too different! And I said no spoilers!:angry:

Don't respond to me on this topic until after October 6th!

Maybe there are sea ponies who were born as sea ponies and who were never hippogryphs in the first place?  There's no reason that couldn't be the case.

I personally think this hippogriff subplot was just unbelievably stupid and unnecessary.

It was surprisingly short to be sure, and maybe even it was an excuse to sell seapony toys.  But it showed one of Twilight's darker sides that was really brought out by how morally gray other characters were being:  she saw characters outside Equestria being dishonest in response to their own desperate situations, and so she thought she had to do morally questionable things in her own desperation to save Equestria...she really learned the wrong lesson from those experiences.  It was sad to watch, but I didn't think it was quite pointless.

Maybe that's why I feel the need to rewatch the movie, it's a deep and relatable lesson to me :sunny:

...subplot? It was the main arc for the majority of the movie. The fact they were changed into seaponies was important because it explains why the plan didn't work.

No, I mean they should've been seaponies from the start.

Then it misses out the part that they two were victims of the storm king. Also they needed to be hippogriffs so they could leave the water for the end.
