I have several other options. A buffet if you will. Pick and choose as you see fit. If you don't want yo believe it's canon ... cool. If someone else does ... it's fine by me too ...

If you'll scroll up, you'll see that I'm the one who started this thread. I do want to believe that The Journal of the Two Sisters is canon, but the fact of the matter is that it's not and nothing can change that now, thanks to Josh Haber.

Also it's kinda interesting to watch this scene

We have discovered the means does not necessarily mean they discovered the Tree just now. Celestia also seemed very knowledgeable about the Tree.

;)

If asking that question you are, no more help can I give.

To me, this only proves that Starswirl disappeared long before Discord came to power, because Celestia and Luna were "far to young" to remember or fight the Pony of Shadows.
I think Starswirl and the pillars left maybe 100 years prior to Discords arrival.

Also, the beauty of that scene is something I had forgotten, the angelic music adding to the mystery of this god like entity of seemingly unlimited power, ripe for explanation beyond the understanding of ponies.

It seems like a small copout for it to be built up so much for it to just be the 6 ponies, we have no idea how powerful they even were...as strong as the elements of harmony I guess.

Right. Same thing really. Which means they were younger than what we see here, far younger. Which I think backs up "Starswirl and the pillars left 100+ years prior to Discords arrival"

I will say this, the finale may open the door for them to completely alter the Alicorn mythos once and for all, because their dialog here and the Crystaling can now reopen long decided debates. My view is at this point everything not shown in the movie/EqG/show is up in the air. We know specific comics are nullified now.

Pony just became Star Wars pre Disney. What fun!

Alright, so

Equestria Girls- Straight canon

The show- Straight canon

Legends of Magic- Straight canon

The movie- Straight canon

most Comics- Alternate/secondary canon

Books- Alternate/secondary canon

Good to know, that is what I will go off of at least.

Not quite as bad as Star Wars, but considering how continuity focused the finale was. A shame they didn't study external continuity before writing it.

The thing is...this wraps up one of the biggest mysteries of the show (WHERE DID THE SEED COME FROM!?!?) so that has me a little worried.

it is just weird how it is this unlimited godly force that can vanquish all evil, when it is just a seed of magic from the pillars of old Equestria.

Somnambula did say that said "seeds" were meant to "grow."

Meaning that even if the Tree didn't start out as some cosmic-like entity, it nevertheless managed to evolve into one at the end of the day.

Of course it grew to be that powerful, i just think me and others had this overly hyped idea of what the tree was. It's my fault, not the shows.

And it tied up like a bunch of loose ends in one two-parter connecting almost every major moment in the show. I think I mentioned it elsewhere ... but this felt like a SERIES FINALE.

Yeah, aside from the last scene, everything felt like an end, even banishing darkness itself.

Personally, it lacked a proper victory celebration at the end (e.g., Magical Mystery Cure).

If they hadn't announced Season 8, I would have said ... we done!

Gonna be hard to to this whole bloody glory of a season. So much lore and so many huge moments

How glorious would the debates be if the last shot was Twi hugging Starlight tho?

Now that the popular "Star Swirl = Discord" headcanon is officially debunked, I want to see Star Swirl interact with Discord sometime.

This needs to be it's own topic ... if someone can think of a non spoilery title. Not just Star Swirl but they need to bring back some Pillars in Season 8. Them being gone 1000 years and a few of their homes being ... changed ... much narrative possibilities.

Here's to season 8 somehow topping this, good luck...

Yeah I was just thinking that, if season 8 wasn't confirmed, I would think this is the end.

I hope the movie and such a high quality season can bring some bronies back to the fandom.

It's sad... United Bronies of Tucson (the brony group in my area) is just starting to become active again, and we only have one season left. :(

Or at least I heard that season 8 will definitely be the last season...

People sure do hear a lot of things. A lot of it is hogwash... but they certainly seem to hear it.

But because I want to play to, I heard Applejack will become an Alicorn next season.

Apple princess 2nd best princess. Nothing tops the Sparkle, sorry.

So did the Season three finale, and so did the season five finale. The show likes to end finales with a measure of closure.

I can see Rockhoof trying to revive the Mighty Helm. Mistmane and Meadowbrook would continue their travels spreading beauty and healing. Flash Magnus I could see as a Wonderbolt, or even founding his own separate flying team. No idea about Somnambula.

And it’s suggested that Starswirl will eventually be a teacher at Celestia's magic school.

She'll probably just go back to that desert village from Daring Done?.

After all that fuss about her statue, imagine them actually meeting the real deal.

She'll be like ... "hey this statue seems kinda newish. What happened here?"

They will be like, "Long story short ... we ID check all cloaked ponies now."
