general I realized something and it's NOT good at all

I know I'm stupid for this, but I can't help it! Also, idk where to put this so Imma just assume it's here.

If people like me are devastated by a convention shutting down, what will happen when the show ends? How will we handle it? This show has been engraved in many of us, even to a point it has become part of our identity.

I'm sure we have a LONG ways to go before the show ends, but once it does what then? Won't we lose a part of our identity, a part of ourselves?

Surely someone out there is afraid of this. Without the show, the fandom will fade away. Yes, maybe there will be some hardcore fans out there keeping the flame going, but how long can a fire remain?

Will these forums still exist or will they die out like the show?

I'm starting to see an uncertain future here.

I can see it tailing off though, if toy sales fail, to be a "summer special" or something rather than a full season of episodes. Mind you, that would require the cast to be on hand, which in turn wouldn't really happen unless EqG suddenly got undeservedly popular.

Let me clarify then - Bronies are a subculture now - not much different than Bikers or Earnhardt fans - the show and the toys might trail off, but Bronies are here to stay. And where there are Bronies, there will be art, friendship and, well, Equestria.

Actually what occurs to me is this.

Voice simulation has come on leaps and bounds, to the point where security groups are now worried that voice phishing with a recognisable voice could be a serious risk.

MLP production costs could drop drastically, if they simply had to licence voice-actor sample sets rather than get the real voice actors to, well, voice act. Advances in generating flash style sequences from stage directions could cheapen production further, to the point where a couple of guys in an office could be churning out new episodes on a weekly basis indefinitely, provided the scripts were provided to them by decent writers.

That is another factor. We will ALWAYS have the eight seasons, movie, and community - it may dwindle a little, but it won't vanish. bronies are as much a part of fandom as trekers or whoovians, and there are generations coming up now who will have never known a world without Ponies, and will continue to think fondly of them into their adult years.

Oh I completely agree - I'm sure the VA's are by far their highest overhead, if not the most exhausting to deal with. Can you imagine what any of the Mane 6 could demand at this point?

Well, even if S8 were suddenly the last one - we would still be here, as would the forum, as would the fandom at large.

Well really the main reason why I'm fearing the show ending is because of how there's thousands of people suffering depression out there who are dependent on the show for a motivation to live and not commit suicide. So basically there would likely be thousands of sudden suicides all around the world when the show ends as the people who are dependent on the show for a motivation to live will literally like have no reason to be in this world anymore in their eyes. But still with my theories of the show someone like me might step up to continue the show with a new storyline plot and direction so nobody has to die because of the show ending. Like maybe I could possibly be the one to continue the show as the storyline plot of my theory would fit into MLP perfectly from any epesode including future episodes!

In regards to fanbases, some fanbases, though small, can last for decades. I joined starmen.net back in the late 90s; the big Earthbound for the SNES fan forum. That is still going strong today, and actually grew to the point where the game became more popular than in was. I was part of a small fan community of Captain N The Game Master as well. 

The show will eventually be cancelled. There will be no new episodes. But your memories will remain - you can always watch them again and find friends who watched them then. This may not seem possible at your age now, but after you turn toward your 20s and beyond, you'll see. There's still men in their 80s who wax poetic about Mickey Mantle and the 60s Yankees - fanbases remain and the spirit of things keep living long after the original creative spark is long gone.

 

Regarding conventions, I'm sure Bronycon will at least last for a long time, as long as there's money in it.

MLP:FIM is not going anywhere for a long time. Even when the show ends it will continue along with other assorted media, possibly a revival eventually, but definitely fanfiction and other fan works will keep it going for years.

If you are afraid of losing yourself or a part of yourself due to a show being cancelled, you are putting far too much of yourself into it to begin with. It is a great show, and I adore it, and I will be sad to see it go.. but it is JUST a show, the same as every other show I have loved and been sad to see go away. Life did not start with MLP and it won't end with it.
