spoiler About the Student Six. (SPOILERS)

I'm worried the Student Six won't get much development, and we won't get to see their friendships grow over the course of the season. I know they became friends in the premiere, but I'd like to see episodes focused on them becoming closer. I mean, the Mane Six became friends in the S1 premiere, but they still frequently conflicted with each other and had to learn to be closer friends throughout the season. It helped to make their friendships feel organic as we watched it grow.

Looking at the S8 episode synopses, I don't see a lot of episodes about the Student Six becoming closer friends. Yes,

the Hearth's Warming episode mentions the students bonding over memories of home, and a later episode mentions them working together to explore a part of the school,  

but 3-4 episodes aren't enough to show them becoming better friends. This worries me because the

S8 finale centers on the CMC and the Student Six. I feel like because we don't get to see the Student Six grow closer, the finale won't have as much weight, since we won't feel a connection for them like we would for the Mane Six.

I don't know, maybe I'm worrying over nothing. What do you think?

The show never has enough time to do anything as there are too many different demands. What is clear is we are going to get more development for the student six than the pillars of Equestria.

They don't really have a common purpose like the CMC did, but equally, we got character development and plot advancement for the CMC at the rate of a couple of episodes per season - so having 3-4 with the new creature 6 as focus is clearly doable, and more would probably lead to complaints that we were neglecting the Mane 6 for new characters....

Considering that the episodes are already written, and there is little any fan can do to effect change, there's no real point in worrying. Just sit back and hope the writers did the new characters justice.

Aren't episodes for shows written 6 months to a year before they air?

Depends. South Park is cheaper, so they can produce work very quickly. FIM's Flash animation is complicated, so more time's needed to finish them. A script for an FIM episode is locked usually anywhere from twelve to eighteen months before airtime.

Well just because we have the synopsis of all the episodes of the season released, that doesn't mean that we know how all of the episodes will play out.

Given how large of a focus the season will place on the school of friendship, I have a feeling there still will be time to see the friendship between the students develop, even if it isn't specifically the focus of the episodes.

Yep. And more to that, depending on the schedule of some of the actors, voice recording can begin over a year before airtime. JDL recorded season 8 before season 7 aired. O_o

Excellent point. There are plenty of times in the past a non-featured character received development, both direct and subtle. Heck, they don't even need to be seen for that to happen.

Exactly. I personally saw the Synopsis on TvTropes recap page, and honestly I think not EVERY one gives away the entire thing. Some of them I'm sure only gave the set-up. Know what I mean?
