Do we expect to much from FiM now?

I think It's not about how many, but what they expect from the show. Many people keeps asking the wrong questions, leading up to the show giving the wrong answers. The show's recognition  and feedback towards the fandom was a blessing and a curse at the same time.

You can't please everybody.

This again. Well, it's not like we have something better to do now that the end is nigh. One can also state that fanboys will blindly defend every shitty thing connected to their object of adoration. We can't really tell who's right without examples, can we now.

P.S: If everything in entertainment is subjective, how come there are flops? It's almost like one can predict the number of people who would like something ... subjectively.

The only complaints i really hear is from the self proclaimed critics on youtube.

I stopped watching the Brony analysts since mid S7 for their videos popping up in my subscription and their reviews coloring my opinion about any given episode. I'm supposed to have my own opinion and watching the critics kinda tempts me to change it into something it's not

Flops are usually when something doesn't sell well enough to make a profit for its And flops can STILL be loved subjectively by a small group of people even if it's literally one person.

There's a reason the trope, Acclaimed Flop, exists.

And yet one can still rightfully point out that such a work is a failure.

There is a chasm in our way of thinking, it seems. I want Ponies to enjoy an observable success. Judging by the posts you make, you just want to feel good by thinking they are successful in your mind alone. That won't do and you know it.

You don't know me at all. I was just pointing out what the definition of a flop is.

You say to me "Judging by the posts you make, you just want to feel good by thinking they are successful in your mind alone. That won't do and you know it."

You think I want the show to be a success in my own mind like I don't care about the rest of the fanbase? You're wrong. I love the show and I love the reasonable side of the fanbase. Until you actually get to know me personally, you really shouldn't be judging me like you know what goes in my mind. Unless you can actually read minds, you can't really know a person.

I'll only believe those words if someone more professional who knows me like Jeric were to tell me that.

The last bit was not a part of definition but your personal observation. All such things are written for a reason. Anyhow, enjoy your reasonable side, I guess.

I don't, but, a lot of other fans seem to never be satisfied with every new episode that is aired. That kind of grates on me to be honest.

On one hand, I feel like I'm expecting too much from Season 9.

While on the other hand, I feel like I *should* be expecting a lot because it's the last season of Friendship is Magic.

This is where I'm at as well. I don't think it's unreasonable to expect more out of season 9, but even disregarding the fact that it's the final season, it still feels pretty underwhelming

I have some expectation for season 9 and so far, season 9 disappoints me. High expectation hurts me a lot in many times but I would rather have high expectation then disappointed than embracing mediocrity (and I am not even that hard to please).>_>

I've generally liked (if not loved) most of the season this far.

Most episodes so far are watchable at worst but what i want is something more than just ‘watchable’, especially the final season.

Yes, of course we do, compared to other cartoons out there, we are by far the worst when it comes to expectations, everything has to be the new best, it has to have themes and morals we agree with (saw plenty of people who didn't like the s8 premiere because """"liberal agenda""" or some nonsense like that) and if we aren't blown away...it's terrible.

Season 9 has been back to back highlights for the entirety of it's runtime with the exception of two episodes (She's all Yak and 2,4,6, great)

It 22-26 are great it will likely be my favorite season of the show.
