general Things you've always wanted to do?

What sorts of things have you wanted to do, but have been unable to for whatever reason?

I've wanted to start a YouTube channel since middle school, but I've always been too shy. That, and I don't want people to recognize me in real life.

I've always wanted to travel. Get out there and see more of the world. Money has of course been an issue though, and that I'm just not completely confident in my ability to get around on my own.

I also wouldn't mind doing my own YouTube content, but I always end up doubting myself whenever I think about the kind of content I'd like to put up. I'm not sure I have the right acumen for it.

I'd love to pilot an airplane, visit a foreign country overseas, play a musical instrument and speak another language. And one of these days I'd love to color my hair; something wild like a bright streak of blue or pink.

I've been really wanting to dress more expressively since junior high. Unfortunately, I can't afford to right now and I can't dress that way around here anyways... I'd get made fun of -_- I don't mean drag at all, by the way... Don't want to go that far.

I've also really wanted to start my own Twitch stream, playing whatever was on my mind at the time. Right now I feel like streaming Paladins and Borderlands stuff.

These among other things.

Travel overseas, learn a sport, do DIY projects, cook new recipes, start a collection, etc.

I written down a whole bucket list of things I want to do one day. I don't expect to do everything but they remind me to stay motivated.

Since high school, I've always wanted to be able to march a woodwind instrument - tenor saxophone or bass clarinet. The sad thing is that I was finally presented with the option a couple of years ago and couldn't do it because of my health. =( Had this worked out, I could have claimed I played all three instruments in my signature at once (oboe in wind ensemble, bassoon in community band, and tenor saxophone in marching/pep band) and it would have been amazing.

Otherwise, I'd love to visit Europe. But financially that is not viable and likely never will be.

That really sucks. Marching tenor is a whole lot of fun (not quite as much fun as bari, of course)

Well that's a shame. I marched tuba in high school and, although they're heavy as f*** and I think it may have messed up my back, it was enjoyable.

It's better than marching a concert baritone because you couldn't lift your instrument (school couldn't afford too many euphoniums considering how many tubas were in the band).

Seriously that's awkward to do, especially for someone that couldn't play it in the first place after only getting a couple of weeks to learn.

I've always wanted to go camping\hiking\hunting but can't because I lack the ability to travel with a large amount of equipment due to not having a driving licence etc.

I also want to do some urban exploration but don't/can't due to the same reason above but also because I don't know any areas in my vicinity also cause I have nobody to go with

I've always wanted to make my own clothing but most patterns for men are very very very limited besides the odd interesting cosplay pattern(which is most of what I have currently).  I've been dressing in t shirts and jeans for long enough imo!  It might be fine for other people but I'd LOVE to make my own clothing!!  I also want to dress more goth and wear makeup too but I get really nervous wearing makeup nor do I have the experience for putting down a proper face of makeup.

I'd also love to be in a career where I'm helping people, I know that's a very broad thing, I mean, don't most careers help people in one way or another?  I kinda don't think I'm a smart person tbh, even though people around me say that I am.  Sure, I might look smart but that doesn't necessarily mean that I am, you know?  For a while, I thought it would be cool to be a therapist but everyone says that that takes too long, I don't know, I just think it would be cool to help out other LGBT folks with stuff.

Lastly, I just want to find love, it might not be romantic love but feeling comfortable around certain people would be great.  I'm kinda isolated here besides that people I talk to online, most people I've been introduced to here things don't really click.  I'm not very good at speaking to people and I'm better off with companionable silence most of the time so maybe that's my problem there...

Bari would have been super fun, too! Although that instrument must be super heavy. I don't actually have one, so I probably would have had to have shared one. Ew. But if I had one it would have been in my list! lol. I actually might have had to consider alto instead, just for the fact that it's less heavy.

You marched actual tuba like they do in DCI? My high school and college always marched sousaphones.

Marching baritones are heavy! I marched trumpet in high school. It was heavy enough to hold at set for me. And funny story: In my first year, our section leaders arranged for us to have to hold marching baritones and go to set for a few minutes just to show us how not heavy the trumpet is. When it got to me, and I went to set the mouthpiece flew out and hit me right in the face. So you could say marching baritones are not my friend. Lol.

It's surprisingly tolerable. My bari only goes down to low Bb and I used a harness and back brace, so it's not too bad.

Alto is alright. I've marched all three, and the larger saxophones are worth the weight imo. (I'm a sucker for low reeds, so I'm biased. I tried to convince my director to buy an old bass sax for 3.5k back in high school)

Write and share my MLP-inspired fan fiction for better or worse. I wrote my first short starting chapter a year ago, but that was it. Other than mentally developing in my head, I made zero progress in publishing more chapters.

I fear I've been trying to come up with exactly what to write up next, even though I got a pretty good outline of what my first main story should be about. Sometimes I feel like my own source of Writer's block, and I'm keeping myself from sharing my vision of how my OC would interact with the world and characters and how he would change as the story goes on.

I think this clip from Family Guy sums up my self-induced pressure

Baritones can get pretty heavy, especially considering that you're supposed to hold them like a trumpet. Or at least our Bari players did.

No, I only marched Sousaphone, should have clarified. A Contra would have been impossible for me even if they didn't look agonizing to march with.

As a person who's actually piloted an airplane before (four times, actually, same aircraft)... well, I can only really tell you what piloting a Cessna 172 or Cessna 182 is like. Well, that and a few other things, but... meh.

Just for reference, the Cessna 172 is a small fixed-wing propeller civilian aircraft that seats four. It's actually pretty small; the cab is smaller than most land vehicles.

Anyway, yeah. The first time off the ground is the most exciting. You're speeding down a runway in a tiny vehicle that you feel could fall apart at any second. It's loud, it rattles, and it's going really fast. Then you pull back on the stick and sink into your seat. Those G-forces kick in and you feel a rush of adrenaline and slight nausea. Then you feel the ground give way underneath you. It's an amazing thrill, and it's hard to describe with just words. :P

Once you're in the air, you get to look down on all those peasants in their stupid little cars and watch them get smaller as you gain more POWERR! altitude. It's kinda fun to see what the world looks like from up there, but it's also kind of hard to describe.

If you've never flown before, your first flight isn't going to be that much fun. If you get carsick, it's going to be really un-fun. I threw up a lot on my first flight, and it was only 30 minutes long. :v

But once you're established at altitude and you level off and begin cruising, it's actually rather peaceful. Well, except for those turbulence gusts, but... eh. No, it's really nice, honestly. The world is really beautiful from 7000+ feet. I definitely recommend it.

(Also landing will give you panic attacks, so... >.>;)

Ever hear of escape rooms? Sort of similar to what you seem to be thinking. I've never been to one, but I've heard stories, and they sound pretty cool. Maybe look into that? :P

This is exactly why I MUST do this someday! You put it perfectly into words. That kick of acceleration, the G-forces and even the rattling plane, not to mention cruising through the air and looking down on the less fortunate earthbound people going about in their cars. And to be honest I really like turbulence. I know it sounds weird but I like anything that gives flight its character and that added thrill. That's why I love bad weather when I fly the airlines. It's all just so amazing! :mlp_yay:

Oh, I'm a sucker for low reeds, too (oboe aside, which is my main instrument... Funny how that works), which is why I really wanted to march either tenor saxophone or bass clarinet. I think it's more I just wanted an excuse to get to play those instruments somewhere, though. lol

Yes, our marching baritones were held just like trumpets. They looked just like bigger mellophones.

They call them contras? I'm really lacking in my knowledge of low brass. Now I can't even remember what they exactly looked like (they probably aren't actual tubas, and I feel embarrassed for claiming that lol), I just remember them being held on the shoulder in DCI.

I've always wanted to become a professional horse rider, but have haven't been able to afford a horse of my own, even riding lessons are too expensive. Or maybe not even that, just be able to work with horses in some way.

The path I'm going though, perhaps that dream will become a reality.

I've always wanted to drive a racecar in a race. And now, me, @Lucky Bolt, and my friend Chris are working on making that a reality by building a racecar. Well, I've done all the work so far but Chris just started a new job and Lucky is the trophy girl so she doesn't have to work.:orly:
