Spider-Man will be leaving the MCU, as Sony and Marvel failed to reach new terms. Kevin Fiege no longer involved. So expect yet another spiderman reboot.

Annoying but tbh im not mad. MCU spidey didnt really feel like spidey to me.

Bad move, especially given how successful/Well-liked MCU Spiderman was. Get ready for more Venom and movies like Amazing Spider Man 2 and Spiderman 3

That's a shame. I find Tom Holland's performance as Peter Parker to be great. And after the latest movie, I was looking forward to what they'd do with the character next in the MCU. But I guess we'll be getting yet another Spider-man, possibly another Andrew Garfield.. everyone's favorite Spider-man.. right?

This is such garbage. I am not much of a fan of comics or the movies, but it seems the current Spiderman and how it was going was a big hit with a lot of people. Now Sony comes along again to screw it up. Woo. Can't wait for the special 85th Spiderman reboot for us to not care about in 2 years.

Well this stinks.  But then again it's Sony we are talking about, and we all know that they don't really have the best track record with handling Spider-Man, so I guess I shouldn't be too surprised to see if he leaves the MCU.

I'm actually not mad either. I really liked Spider-Man: Homecoming, but heard from fans that the sequel was underwhelming. I also did not find The Amazing Spider-Man and Venom to be that bad at all, so I wouldn't mind another Spider-Man film from Sony.

This again?? My god... Tom is their best bet as being peter Parker. I mean at least he wasn’t some near middle age guy playing as a 15 year old kid. Bad move.

Well... here we go again with this annoying Spider-Man origins story...they might as well end the whole Spider-Man movie.

Apparently this is happening because disney wanted a much higher profit on the films. They wanted to increase from 5% to 50%.

Profit discussion for their new deal is unknown, it was the co-financing they were trying to negotiate with that was 50/50

On the bright side, Into the Spider-verse was pretty spectacular. If no deal ends up being made, Sony could still continue the Spider-verse brand and be successful. There has been talk of that happening anyways since last year, with a sequel, a TV series, and a Spider-Gwen spinoff.

I'd rather not see any further live action Spider-Man in the foreseeable future outside of the MCU. It won't make sense to have Tom Holland's Peter Parker in a separate universe, and I'm sick of all the reboots. Sony should focus on its other Marvel properties... I enjoyed last year's Venom film a lot and I think bringing in Andy Serkis as director of the sequel could be a genius move on their part.

honestly i saw this coming from a mile away, with how things were in the air to begin with. If it does go down and sony takes spider-man away it wont shock me in the slightest. Sony has ALWAYS had a weird fetish for Spider-Man and didnt wanna hand him over to begin with

Having existing cast speak up is a good thing. Recall the cast of Guardians of the Galaxy threatening to leave if Disney didn't rehire James Gunn.

Again? I guess I can't be surprised, but it's pretty silly to see the exact same song and dance repeat again.

At first I rejected the zero, but that was because I simply didn't understand it. Now I do.

What's the big deal about Spider-Man leaving the Marvel Cinematic Universe? I'm being serious.

It mostly just means the end of any future plans the MCU had with Spider-Man, and of course losing Tom as Peter, and really just any world building that occurred with his appearances.  Ultimately it's subjective on which Spider-Man you like, personally Tom has been my favorite of the live action Peters by a large margin.  If Sony does wish to continue with live action Spider-Man, it will also mean yet another reboot and origin film.

For a lot of fans who are excited for future projects with MCU Spider-Man and then suddenly getting this ripped out from under them is jarring.  And it's the internet, freak-outs happen.  It could be compared to if Hasbro announced that they were doing nine seasons of FiM but then lost the rights part way through and only ended up with six.  The story just stops with no conclusion.  Normally this happens with franchises that do poorly, which MCU Spider-Man was in no danger of.

Not too surprising for this to happen when two major companies were sharing something that did really well.  Fans?  Bah!?  What are those?  Money!

I think TV Tropes calls this predicament Exiled from Continuity and here's a updated image of the movie rights from December 17, 2018
