I made a ponified spoof on the lyrics to "American Pie" by Don McLean.

@ShadOBabe, this is for you! I've been working on this ever since you said you wanted to learn the song, and I thought this might give you some extra motivation!

Here's the original song for reference for everyone else:

And I got the chords from here: https://tabs.ultimate-guitar.com/tab/don-mclean/american-pie-chords-187946

It may have some depressing parts, but I tried to make it have a happy and optimistic ending.

And without further ado:

"Equestrian Pie" by Don McMane

[Verse 1]

  G     D/F#    Em7
A long, long time ago,
Am            C                  Em                  D
I can still remember how that music used to make me smile
    G      D/F#   Em7
And I knew if I had my chance,
     Am                 C                Em              C            D
That I could make those ponies dance and maybe they'd be happy for a while
    Em               Am              Em                 Am
But Hearth's Warming made me shiver, with every letter Derpy delivered
C        G/B    Am             C                     D
Bad news on the doorstep, I couldn't trot one more step
  G          D/F#         Em            Am7             D
I can't remember if tears flowed when I heard about our cancelled show
G         D/F#    Em
Something hurt me deep inside
    C      D7      G
The day the music died

[Chorus]

   G    C        G          D
So bye, bye Miss Equestrian Pie
          G             C           G           D
That darn Hasbro let it go cuz they said it was time
         G        C                    G           D
And them good old bronies were sad and sobbin' all night
        Em*                         A7*   Em*                         D7
Singin' this will be the day that I die, this will be the day that I die

[Verse 2]

G                 Am
Did you write the spell of love
       C                 Am              Em                 D
And do you have faith in Celestia above, if your Cutie Mark tells you so?
G      D/F#        Em
Do you believe in rock and roll
    Am7            C              Em                 A7            D
Can music save your mortal soul and can you teach me how to prance real slow?
       Em*                  D*                   Em*             D*
Well I know that you're in love with him 'cuz I saw you prancin' in the gym
    C           G/B      A7           C                    D7
You both kicked off your shoes, man I dig those rhythm and blues
        G      D/F#     Em                            Am                         C
I was a lonely teenage wickerin' stallion mournin' my show's cancellation with a cider gallon
    G     D/F#    Em                    C       D7    G  C  G
And I knew I'd had enough of pal'n the day the music died, I started singin'

[Chorus]

G    C        G          D
Bye, bye Miss Equestrian Pie
             G           C              G           D
Confessed my love to a another but Miss Flutter was Shy
       G      C                G         D
And my broken heart might feel better in time
        Em*                         A7*  Em*                         D7
Singin' this will be the day that I cry, this will be the day that I cry

[Verse 3]

         G                   Am
Now for nine months we've been on our own,
      C                     Am                   Em                     D
our butts growin' fat just playing on our phones but that's not how it used to be
          G     D/F#            Em
When the jester sang for the two sisters
     Am7                C             Em                 A7          D
in a coat he borrowed for winter in a voice that sounded somewhat sinister
         Em*                    D*               Em*                 D*
Oh, and while the princess was looking down, the jester stole her magic crown
     C         G/B   A7       C                D7
The throneroom was adjourned, no verdict was returned
          G           D/F#  Em             Am           C
And while Twilight read a book on stars, the quartet practiced in the park
    G        D/F#      Em             C         D7     G  C  G
And we sang lullabies in the dark the day the music died, we were singin'

[Chorus]

G    C        G          D
Bye, bye Miss Equestrian Pie
          G           C         G         D
Got a new show but Oh No it was just Pony Life
         G        C                G           D
And them hardcore Bronies were complainin' all right
        Em*                         A7*   Em*                         D7
Singin' this will be the day that I die, this will be the day that I die

[Verse 4]

G                   Am
Best-pony winner is Starlight Glimmer
C                        Am                Em                   D
the griffons flew off with Sunset Shimmer, eight miles high and fallin' fast
      G   D/F#  Em
She landed soft upon grass
      Am7          C            Em                             A7         D
Rainbow Dash flew forward fast, with the jester on the sidelines the iconoclast
          Em*               D*                  Em*              D*
The Sonic Rainboom air was sweet perfume, while King Sombra fell to his doom
C          G/B      A7      C                  D7
We all got up to prance, but we never got the chance
          G          D/F#      Em                 Am                Cm
'Cuz the Changelings tried to take the field, the marching ponies refused to yield
    G    D/F#       Em              C        D7       G  C  G
Do you recall what was revealed the day the music died,    we started singin'

[Chorus]

G    C        G          D
Bye, bye Miss Equestrian Pie
          G             C                G        D
Pulled my carriage to a marriage but the cake was a lie
          G        C              G          D
Yeah them Flim and Flam was bein' tricky all right
        Em*                           A7*  Em*                           D7
Singin' this will be the day that you buy, this will be the day that you buy

[Verse 5]

     G                Am
And there we were all in one place,
    C          Am             Em                   D
4th generation lost in space, with no time left to start again
            G       D/F#    Em               Am7                  C
So come on Flash be nimble, Flash be quick, Flash Sentry sat on a candle
       Em                   A7             D
stick, 'cuz fire is Day Breaker's only friend
     Em*              D*               Em*                    D*
And as I watched him on the stage, my hooves were clenched in fists of rage
    C      G/B     A7         C                       D7
No alicorn born in Hell could break that Night Mare's spell
           G            D/F#      Em             Am             C
And as the flames climbed high into the night to light the sacrificial rite
       G     D/F#           Em          C       D7      G  C  G
I saw Discord laughing with delight the day the music died,    he was singin'

[Chorus]

G    C        G        D
Bye, bye Miss Equestrian Pie
           G            C              G               D
Joined the fandom kinda random now the day's turned to night
         G        C                 G        D
And them ol' bad guys were laughin' sinfully bright
        Em*                           A7*  Em*                           D7
Singin' this will be the day that you die, this will be the day that you die

[Verse 6]

  G    D/F#       Em
I met a filly who sang the blues
      Am                 C               Em                     D
And I asked her for some happy news, but she just smiled and trotted away
  G       D/F#      Em
I went down to the sacred store
       Am              C                     Em                  C
Where I'd heard the music years before, but the pony there said the music
         D
wouldn't play
    Em*            Am*                    Em*               Am*
But on the web the trolls all meme'd, the bronies cried and Hasbro beamed
    C     G/B      Am          C                     D
But not a word was spoken, the church bells all were broken
        G       D/F#     Em         Am7       C         D7
And the three ponies I admire best, Celestia, Luna, and Cadance
G             D/F#          Em               C       D7    G
They caught the last train with the rest the day the music died,
N.C.
And they were singin'

[Chorus]

G    C        G          D
Bye, bye Miss Equestrian Pie
  G                 C                      G           D
Believe it when you see it, We'll turn the darkness to light
       G        C               G           D
To you good old bronies sittin' weepin' all night
        Em*                           A7*    Em*                           D7
Singin' this will be the day that you shine, this will be the day that you shine
                G    C        G          D
We were singin' bye, bye Miss Equestrian Pie
         G              C         G                  D
Watchin' reruns with my freedoms, lookin' forward to G5
        G        C                   G          D
To them good old ponies we love with all of our might
        C                D7         G   C   G
Singin' this will be the day that I rise.

Spoiler

The chords got kinda knocked out of place with the formatting. :muffins: Also, I didn't know exactly where to post this, so I just posted it here. :mlp_lie:
