Vampire' skull found in Italy

Darn straight.

Word.

So can this be proven or disproven? I mean, is there enough evidence there so we know enough to say "This is Vladdy himself"?

(We already know that it's not a "vampire" in the mythological sense, at least the non-gullible ones here do)

Ummm... Did anybody read the article? They didn't even say it was a vampire, all they said was that they found someone who people thought was a vampire hundreds of years ago. But of course, the skull is probably going to reanimate in a few nights, regenerate its body, and start a vampire apocalypse. I mean, that's just common sense.

I read it!

If anything it saddens and disgusts me how people from those ages acted, but thankfully those days are long past...

but there is still some unreasonable prejudiced and hate to be found in parts of the world. (I'm looking at you Westboro.)

Since never. I wasn't calling y'all Twilight fans, I was reminded of those stupid fans by their quotes, and "thanked" the fans for all those retards have done for the vampire's reputation.

Of course then again, I got first into vampires by Castlevania, so I guess I'm not that different in that respect. But unlike Twilight, Castlevania's portrayal of the "classic" Dracula was very accurate, and I'm not rabid about it. But Twilight fans are complete idiots and should be shot with silver bullets or stabbed with a wooden stake, depending if they like Mr. Abswolf or Pale 'n Sparkley.

This. I love Castlevania, and it's what got me into vampires, gothic horror, christian mythology, and other stuff like that.

  • 2 months later...

I actually did a research paper on this. As far as I can remember without watching the video, during the plague, they had to bury bodies quickly. This means that there were mass graves that had to be made and have people shoved and buried in them. Then they would have to uncover partially rotted bodies to bury more when they ran out of room.

Again, the bodies they found were only partially rotted so liquids and gases were still being released. Grave diggers saw the cloths they put around the mouths disintegrated and covered in blood and the body still 'breathing' (the gas being released). They believed that these bodies would rise and spread the plague much like a 'modern vampire' would feed. How they got the term, I don't know since this was before Bram Stoker, but they called the bodies vampires. They would shove bricks in the vampire's mouths to keep them from feeding so they would starve and hopefully stop the plague.

So no. Vampires in our sense of the word do not exist. These were different. Back then they didn't understand the process of rotting so they gave it their own reasoning which caused panic. This happened a lot.

On a slightly unrelated note, many living people who had the plague were sent to a separate land near Italy they called "Quarantine Island" were they would wait it out. Most died but a few managed to shake off the disease and were taken off the island and back to the mainland.

Hmmm... Should I show this to my Twilight obsessed friend?

Anyway, this is almost certainly fake. Like 99.999%. But there's always that 0.001% chance that it's real...

It's real. It's just not -vampires-. They're dead bodies that were only partially rotted when grave diggers back then found them and tried to rationalize something they didn't understand.

Oh, that explains it. Thank you for the information!

I'm tired of all the dumb articles with blown out of proportion titles.

"VAMPIRE SKULL!!!"

"ZOMBIE ATTACK!!"

-.-'

EXACTLY!!! It makes me so annoyed and mad to hear about this, however I do like vampires xD But hearing about them articles annoy me

I do like vampires (not the Twilight vampires,no offense to the fans) but this article could be fake. Actually many people's teeth can form into a sharp looking point. My boyfriend's little brother has sharp teeth, in the front haha

*copypaste*

It's real. It's just not -vampires-. They're dead bodies from the black plague that were only partially rotted when grave diggers back then found them and tried to rationalize something they didn't understand (that being the rotting process).

As for the teeth being sharp, bones deteriorate as well.

So, basically, what they found is some sort of skull belonging to someone who had the black plague and was considered a vampire because blood came out of his mouth and the "great" thing about the skull is that it's the first time they exumed such a person who got burried like that.

Historically that's pretty cool IMO, always good to find relics of the past behaviors... and see that people are still stupid enough to think that they are talking about real vampires... Wich never existed anyway...
