Any ideas for other equine based races?

I don't really know if this is supposed to go in sugar cube corner, but I thunk it does. My idea is the nightmare a black pony with a fiery mane and it can fly. The ground lights up in flames in it's footsteps.

 

It comes from a legend in a some culture but I can't remember from where

 

Also, feel free to suggest any non-pony races too

I was thinking ponies with dragon wings... they'd be cool...

 

They'd have an epic name, too... like Carlton... yeah... Carlton!

 

Well, maybe my name choice isn't the best... perhaps Dragoon Ponies, I dunno, hahah

 

They'd basically be the Dragon guardians, so they'd have to be a little larger than the average pony, and their wings a lot larger than a pegasis (for they'd be dragon wings, of course)

This is pretty much what I would like the sea-ponies to be based on. Not seahorses like the G1 sea-ponies were.

 

Other than that, I don't think that there are any other mythological horse creatures. Well maybe a Centaur, but it would be weird to have part human ponies. I wouldn't like this...

Seen: Ponies (Unicorn, "Earth", Pegusi, "Alicorn"), Mule, Zebra, Buffalo, Cows, Sheep, Pigs, Billy Goat

 

Yet to be seen: Elk, Moose, Antelope or other variety of Deer, Mountain Goat

 

Theoretically possible to be seen: Hippopotamus, Rinocerous, Donkey, Tapir

I'm happy with the four types we've got as it is. I don't see any sense in having a bunch of new variations thrown into the mix at this point, especially if they're just going to be mild variations of existing races (ie pegasus with dragon wings).
