Well, my preferences have changed through the seasons actually. I love all the Mane 6, but some are of course more preferable.  


My season one list was:

BUT! Then season two happened! And I realized my change of thought! Character development lead to different heart!  
Season two went like like this.

And then season three. Not much of a change.

1) Twily: I relate to her the most. To the point where I've been referred to as the human male equivalent to her. Not to mention, she's mah waifu.

2) Pinkie: I really like her randomness. Definitely the funniest in my mind.

3) Rarity: I'll admit, she's not always awesome. But when she is, HOLEH CARP she's awesome. (case-in-point, Dog and Pony Show)

4) RD: To be honest, I find her voice adorable. Not the MOST adorable, mind you (Twily FTW  ), but still. I also like characters with egos.

5) AJ: In terms of character, she gets a lot of points from me. She's one of, if not the, most mature and reliable of the Mane 6.

6) Flutters: She's cute. That's really all she's got going for her.

 

Now don't let that confuse you. To say I don't like any of them is blasphemy, madness, and/or Sparta. They all get beaucoup de points from me. I just love 'em all.

I give Rarity credit for having her own business and taking care of her sister, but I find that sometimes she's the opposite of her element of harmony (that being, I think she's sometimes selfish) but on the plus side, she learns from her selfishness.

I honestly REALLY REALLY just love Rarity and Pinkie the most by a landslide. I love all of them though, I just can't be bothered to order them past a certain point

Time for another update, Rarity has just switched places with Fluttershy on my list. I still like Fluttershy, I mean it is hard not to like her because she is pretty adorable but I just don't like how inconsistently they keep writing her. She learns a lesson in one episode and forgets it an episode or two later, I understand due to her nature how it would take longer to advance as a character and there are some episodes where she can be quite inspiring but this is something that needs to be fixed. As I watch and rewatch episodes I start to notice certain things about Rarity that I overlooked at first, I don't always agree with the way her character is written either.

 

I feel that they lay on the vanity a bit too thick in some episodes for comedic effect and it just falls flat for me and drows out her positive traits, but in the episodes that focus on her they do a good job of balancing what is a very interesting and complex character. Aside from Applejack Rarity I feel has the most untapped potential of the mane 6 characters. And I have been writing a fanfic starring her lately called Rarity Gets Cockroaches which you can see chapter 1 of on fimfiction if you want to read it which has made me have to see things a bit more from her point of view to make the story believable and that I believe has also factored into this change.
