True true, but what kind of causes the initial shock is that it's an internet fad, and in truth, not many people expect girls to become a large portion of anything internet fad related, mainly because not a lot of girls are into internet culture as there are boys.

My thoughts exactly! It's all the more shocking considering the pony fandom is heavily dominated by male fans, to the point where many people (rather incorrectly) refer to the fans collectively as "bronies".
