Losing Interest in MLP

Not at all. Even after all the original crew left, the magic never left. As the show's storytelling capabilities became more refined and consistent, it evolved with maturer stories and grayer morals. Personally, as one of Season 8's biggest supporters, it captured a sense of magic that I felt as I was getting caught up with Season 1, especially during its outstanding second half.

1. I didn't think FiM's pilot was that great, TBH. I think her pilot for "DC Superhero Girls" did a much better job introducing the main characters.

I don't really subscribe to the "cult of Faust" but would argue the pilot did a much better job than the movie did.

That aside though, Pony is Faust's vision - the world picture, the flawed cast (even if Derpy was a complete accident) and how they interact, and the overall tone - where girls can stand on their own four hooves and get the job done, where positive values (caring, forgiveness, inclusion) are rewarded not the usual negative ones, where a group of friends are greater than the sum of their parts - is pure Faust. If she had done NOTHING else but write the show bible and move on, she would still deserve recognition for making Pony what it is.

I got into this show in late 2012 during the middle of season 3. I stopped watching this show when season 5 ended. I saw the direction the show was headed and I wanted no part in it. Now I have returned to the fanbase (not the show itself) to patiently wait for the premier of G5. What I have returned to is a fandom in grieving over what used to be. And I don't blame a single one of you. In answer to the question. yes. this show's magic is long gone. What used to be this charming show about 6 (well 12 if you count Spike, CMC, and the princesses) characters having these personalities which bounced well off of each other turned into something very different. It was around season 5 that I could see the show was switching focus to other characters who simply could not compare. Whilst great if you were one of those people who obsessed over secondary characters I do not believe this was enough for the average fan at the time who liked the mane 6 themselves to stick around. Thus the show lost it's charm.

So, you just came back to be a Debbie Downer? Good to know.

Yes and No. the magic will never entirely be lost. What MLP has achieved, people leave and enter this global fandom every day. It just isnt in the numbers of old. New things are coming out with the same magic, and new creative approaches. We have had the identities we know and love in the Mane Six through 8 seasons, the entire Equestria girls series, and an independent film. We know their character dynamics, we know their strengths, we have recycled plot devices already, now we are a little past the moment of time where it is time to start making conclusions, 9 seasons is lived in and Starlight has been a big help these past few seasons keeping the flare <3 I want to make it to the final convention this year. MLP is still something to be celebrated, ive been a brony for six years, and after awhile it is just a background title, I used to base my entire identity on MLP, but with my love of cartoons, and the progress of new things, dont cling on to something so hard, that you miss something even better.

Hey I'm not the one starting these topics talking about the current state of the fanbase. You ask this sort of question and I'm gonna be honest about my opinion on this whole issue. For me and nearly every other person I knew I/we lost interest after season 4. And I wouldn't consider myself a total downer. I myself am really anticipating G5 and feel it has real potential. So I come back here periodically in the hopes some new info comes out about it.

No matter how hard I try these ponies will simply never leave me.

I'll admit that the first 3 seasons really had a kind of 'magic' that alot of the newer seasons don't have.  I started in uh... 2017 or 2016 (forget which) and yeah it was enjoyable.. honestly, I feel that season 8 was a bit of a disappointment in some areas than most, but not entirely terrible.  Granted, I do feel that they could of evolved things a bit better.  For example the "Dear Princess Celestia Segments"  They could of left those in.  First the letters to the Princess from Twilight, then letters from Twilight AND her friends, then the book of friendship, then when Starlight came around they could of shifted the segment to 'frienshp lessons/teaching moments' to Starlight.  As in Twilight's telling her what she learned or what her friends learned or what not.  Then, the school could of had them teaching the entire class for those segments.  Just again I feel it could of been a more natural evolution of that segment, instead of just pretty much ditching it in favor of "Let's talk publically of what we learned".... which works in some cases but others... just feels more 'awkward' and the show's even joked about it XD

However, i think one of the reasons why I do enjoy those first few seasons more.. is because it's about a social outcast, who's trying to fit in, and getting some new friends.  Something I can relate too.for I'm a social outcast with well, my 'friends' are more people I occationally talk too so they feel more like aquantences :/)  Always wished I had a groupf of friends like Twilight had and part of why I liked the show so much.

Then, as time progressed, she wasn't as much of a social outcast.  Not saying there weren't moments where she wasn't, but still.   Then Starlight comes along.  Another social outcast, struggling to find friends and such.  I connected with her too and why I also like her and when she's apart of an episode I tend to like it more, because of that dynamic.

Again, it's not to say that I don't enjoy the series outside of those moments, but it's part of what hooked me and part of why I enjoy those moments more.

Not me, and here're two words to explain why. "Rainbow" and "Dash."

You say this every month and constantly doom monger every chance you get. If you're not interested in the show, stop watching it already

This is me with almost everything I enjoy in terms of franchise media. Doesn’t matter what the IP is.

it goes up and down and no interest and back up and back down so on and so forth. This is actually a normal interest curve for hobbies and such.

It’s late but tomorrow I will consider creating a Mega Thread where all this threads can go.
