Wow... only three (technically the movie comes out next year, so four) years and slenderman will be getting an official movie?

I'll be honest, I'm impressed... I'd figure it would at least take a few generations, allow the origin of Slenderman fade away onto the internet and let him become the future Boogeyman... cause you know, this generation would use it to scare the kids.

as of now, you can't really tell much from the movie, from the trailer it seems slender might be a monster killing machine (which does fit more along the lines of Slender was treated back when he started) but if the movie does it well, it could definitely pull off what Slender is most commonly known for Edited August 30, 2012 by Captain Marvelous

I really hate Slendy (at least, the original Slenderman, not the new, overused Slendy). He scares me to death. But I'll probably watch it whenever it comes out, anyway, because I am clinically insane, and am not inclined to make any sense at all.

Oh my god, they already did that with TV shows and Youtube videos like The Annoying Orange and Fred. We all saw how that turned out. Hopefully the rest of Hollywood doesn't catch onto the fact that this is an internet story

Be honest I hadn't really been interested in Slenderman since I found out it wasn't real, when I first heard about it, I thought it was a cryptid but when I learned of it's origin, I completely lost interest... and the youtube videos like Marble Hornets took way too long for my taste...

hmm not one for scary movies, but I think the idea of Slenderman is interesting, every generation and culture propels their own myths and urban legends or versions of fairy tales. I really find Slenderman intersting because of what he has become and the fact he is a mythological type creature that the culture of the internet created and has moved far beyond that, I think it would be interesting to write a paper on it, or research it somemore and I am interested to see what Slenderman becomes as our generation ages.

I think a Slenderman movie has some serious potential. It's come a long way from a random forum myth, hasn't it? If the movie really takes off, maybe people oblivious to the whole Slenderman craze will pick up on it, too. I'd like to see Slenderman become immortalized as a legit urban legend in my lifetime.

I hope Entity is released to Netflix soon after release (or even better, Youtube). Slenderman is an internet thing, and as such should be available on the internet.

I will see the fuck out of this movie when it comes out. I've always loved Slenderman Mythos, and have faithfully watched Marblehornets ever since I found it near the end of season 1.

Who knows? They might copy the game entirely (some people get stuck in a forest some how and are chased by Good 'Ol Slendy) or a different story all together. I bet it'll be a good scare. How could they go wrong with Slenderman? But it would be amusing if 'Gimme 20 Dollahs' played every time someone was about to die in the movie.

You know, now that I actually watch the trailer, it gets tons of stuff from Marble Hornets. Plenty of similarities, the tons of drawings and random pieces of paper, creepy looking dolls, the Operator Symbol (the O with an X through it is taken directly from MH).

 

But yeah, it'll still probably suck :/

I'm pretty excited for this. I love spooky stuff, but I'm almost out of horror movies to watch and I've been a little underwhelmed by the Slender games fans have made. I can see how movies based off of Internet stories could go badly, but there's definitely some ideas I'd like to see getting attention from people who can afford high-end effects and actors.

But I have never even heard of slenderman before the free computer game was made, is that a bad thing? Is there a link someone could give me to all of this "lore" you guys are talking about? I would greatly appreciate it if you could help me out here.

Yes, the game is inspired in the story of Slenderman, i would recommend you to not play the game since it's the most boring thing you will ever play, just walk and pick up some papers and suddenly scarejump, nothing impressive.
