MLP is the top brand for the HUB Network at the moment. The ratings have been consistently high and it isn't showing signs of slowing down. There will definitely be a season 5 at this rate. As for the content, it will likely be similar to what we have now. They will make another movie down the line as well.

Probably.... I'm not going to have my hopes up here.

Season 4 is all new adventures, Season 5 better have the same. The show should end on Season 5 in my opinion. It may have the potential to have at least 7 but I suggest to not overdo it. Generation 5 should be in productivity. 

 

But as @Ezio Auditore said, as long as Hasbro is making money, they'll continue making seasons but I think Generation 5 should be up next after Season 5. Just saying.

I can imagine the show making it to six seasons minimum. Could be more or less depending on how factors work out in the future.

I see a Season 5, and probably 6 as well, but not really anything beyond that. If it proves to remain popular, it may go on longer, but at that point I think the quality will most definitely have dipped by that time, and it certainly wouldn't go beyond 8 seasons or so.

I can't see the show getting past 7 seasons. The show's quality has consistently been amazing, but they can only go so long before everything rounds up. And I feel that 7 seasons is an optimum number. My only hope is that the bronydom stays alive despite the show's ending.

I can see it going another 2 or 3 years, quite possibly more since it's the Hub's most popular/highest rated show. 

 

However, I DON'T want it to overstay its welcome and become a "zombie show" that just keeps going on long after everyone's stopped liking it and it's just not any good anymore

 

I think I speak for a lot of people when I say that I don't want what happened to The Simpsons, SpongeBob Sqaurepants and Two & a Half Men--among many others--to happen to FiM...

Probably around 6. I kind of see a lot of shows that don't get milked to this day end around their 5th, 6th or even 7th seasons. I wouldn't mind MLP:FiM lasting a while, but if it goes on too long it's quality will probably drop off.

Even if the show ends, I think the whole brony community will stay together but in a different form. We will all probably become fans of Lauren Faust's new show she is doing with Sony, Medusa. I really want to see MLP continue for a while after this, as long as the quality doesn't fade out. But when they do eventually end it, as all things come to an end (unfortunately) I want them to do a really awesome, long movie that makes everyone happy and content with what the show has brought them. 

 

Edit: I really hope that whenever G5 comes around, (which I am sure will happen eventually, because there's money to be made) that they don't turn it into gen 3 crap. We know better than anyone that they would be losing 8-16 million fans (approximated number of bronies) if they did that.

Ponies are forever! At least that's how long I hope it will last. There's just so many unexplored areas in Equestria for the show to only last a couple more seasons. Plus I'd like the hype and the fandom to not go away. If this generation last up to season 10, I'm happy with it.

I really cant imagine this show going past MAX 7 seasons. Most TV shows that are for ad revenue or subscription dont last much longer than that.

 

Hasbro is also running out of ideas for toys, you can tell. Its really up to them when to cut it.

Con: if GEN 5 is worse than FiM, they are screwed.
