Okay, im not a shipper, but i understand shippings.

I can see why RDXFlutterShy makes sense, both Pegasi,

I can see why Rairty and Big mac, opposites attract and all.

 

But why the buck do people ship Trixie and Twilight. It's the one shipping i cant wrap my brain around. Can a Greath and Powerful Shipper explain this couple to me? Thanks

It's probably because they seem lke rivals a lot and the fact they both are magicians. It's pretty weird if you would think about their shipping, but I think it makes sense.

Well...I think it's kinda a good ship if well done.

I mean, it is called Twixie which is undeniably Cooot! Anyway, as the guy somewhere above said - Rivalry. It's kinda easy to see why they'd be shipped as they were obvious rivals, Trixie trying her best and being showy but a bit weak, Twi being shyer about her talent but more powerful.

It's what they call a Rival Ship. It's the same reason why Draco x Harry, Ash x Garry, Yugi x Kaiba, and Goku x Vegeta are all fairly popular ships in their respective fandoms.

 

I'm kind of a big multi-shipper, so I can get behind most pairings. This one included. But the it's the job of the fan fiction writer to make it make sense.

I've written (and kind of still am writing) a comedic shipfic involving Trixie, Pony Joe and a psychic chess piece. Luna is being brought into the story, as well as some other characters that I haven't decided on yet.

 

 

 

I don't think I've ever seen shipping as rampant as the Golden Sun shipping, though. Literally every major and minor character is shipped with every other major and minor characters. Nothing is spared. There's even a ship between Isaac and the roof of his house (which is a parody of one of the early cutscenes in the game). They're all named ships, and the vast majority have fanfics.

I don't even see the rivalry element in their relationship. Twilight says only a few sentences to Trixie the entire episode and generally doesn't even seem to care the entire time. For Trixie's part she probably feels threatened by Twilight but is unlikely to try to turn it into a rivalry because it's pretty obvious that she would get crushed. I agree, I don't understand the shipping, but then again I don't understand the appeal of Trixie in general. Whatever floats your boat though

Mostly the appeal to the Twixie shipping is that it's basically the last thing you'd expect. By all accounts these two should hate each other (especially Trixie in regards to Twilight). On that note actually, in most of the fics I've read regarding this pairing Twilight is usually the one to make the first move in starting any kind of relationship between them, romantic or not.

You must be new here. Twixie (as it is called) has been a staple of the Pony shipping community ever since Trixie's first appearance. I think it stems from fans who were previously, or may still be, Otaku, Specifically fans of a certain archetype of anime called 'tsundre' meaning, essentially "Hate-Love." The concept being that when two people who hate each other are forced to spend extended amounts of time together, the hate will eventually evolve into love.

You speak the truth, Ebil. There's absolutely no basis for this pairing except that Twilight and Trixie were indirect rivals in one episode and both of them are cute unicorns. The rest is all headcanon, which leaves the author with a lot of explaining to do for their story to work. But I guess if you can pull it off convincingly, you are a writer worthy of respect. ^^

For some reason I have always seen them as rivals, for awhile. Maybe it's the fact that Twilight shows up Trixie when no one else does which angers her, or maybe I just create the image in my head. Or course each to there own opinion.
