Have you tried to convert your friends, and if so, how?

Told my friends that I was a brony soon after I actually became one. They were interested from my obsessed rambling about the show and they watched it. For the next week ponies were the only thing we even talked about.

I also got my brother to become a fan. He was a hater at first so it was a bit tricky. But now just yesterday I watched the whole first season again with him.

I've also mentioned the show to others who said they might try it out. I don't know how many actually are fans now.

I am against forcing others to like what I like. The people who I consider friends know about the fact I like ponies, but I don't ever talk about it, some have expressed interest, and at that point I decided to give them some YouTube links to help them out. But I won't force anyone to watch it, it should be out of their own volition.

That said, I believe a girlfriend/boyfriend situation should be different. Ina sense I require respect and understanding from this person for everything I do, if they can't do that, then I doubt I could love that person anyway. But that is a tangent, considering I ascribe certain qualities to having a significant other.

I converted my nephew yesterday, first I showed him Lesson Zero, then A Canterlot Wedding, then Rainbow Dash Presents Cupcakes.

Not sure if I've made him a brony, but I've been recently trying to convert this guy, and he knows about the Mane 6 and Spike, plus he really likes the Friendship Is Witchcraft fandub, so he may be a brony.

But I don't shove it in people's faces, I just get them curious and show them the fandom's works and steadily convert them.

I'm not sure it took me a lot of convincing I found the best way to do it is, just slip it into casual conversation eventually the other person will sate your appetite for the question and sucumb to your will. I'm chipping away at my cousin right now, when we talk I throw in like a "20% cooler" or a "ten seconds flat." Obviously I expained some popular things to him. Enough to hook him he is trying to get alone long enough in his house to watch an episode. Or atleast that what he tells me. I may just turn it on casully when we hang out or something. As well as recomending it everytime you talk about show/movies or plots or anything movie/show related which I find tends to come up a lot I always work a "I still highly recomend you watch My little pony: Friendship is magic." Thats how I was converted and so it twas' written in my brony genetices!

I've never tried to convert anyone, not that I wouldn't try. But currently no one knows that I'm a brony, and my parents probably don't even know about FiM.

He doesn't like the show, but watches because he's a good hubby :)

You're lucky to have someone who respects you.

I've said this before, but I've tried to convert one brony into watching this show on a wrestling forum, everybody think I was weird, especially the owner. Outside of the forum, I've never talked about it on Facebook because I don't have any bronies on my Facebook. I'm also afraid that if I showed my appreciation, I'd get the same treatment like on the wrestling forum. I won't bug them to death about it, I just want at least one person to be converted into watching this show and feel great about it.

I've never tried to convert anyone into a brony, because I feel it is something that people should come to with their own understanding. Converting feels too forceful to me, and I'd rather afford people the freedom to choose for themselves. Besides, I feel it is more effective to let a person watch it on their own, and giving the person the impression that they are being forced could prove counter-productive. That being said I have shown MLP to my non-brony friends when they have asked to see it. I explain to them as best I can what they are seeing when they ask, but I leave them to draw their own conclusions. Not that I am saying conversion is necessarily a bad thing, because without it there may not be as many bronies as there are today. Though I feel it is a more positive experience for some people that they feel unrestrained. All things considered though. If a friend asks me to explain what bronies and MLP are to me. I will help them as best I can.

I've never purposely converted anyone to the fandom, but one of my friends that likes to read became one because I recommended he read My Little Dashie. Now he absolutely loves the show.

Here's a video that shows you how. ;) (Go to ~2:44)

P.S. I'm not serious, don't tie up your friends and force them to watch FiM.

I am in the midst of converting my sister into a pegasister, and it's going quite well if I do say so myself. So far, we've watched three episodes, and she seems to really enjoy the show, and is already pegging certain characters as her favorites (she seems to especially enjoy Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie so far :) ). Here's hoping her conversion continues to go splendidly!! Wish me luck fellow bronies and pegasisters!!! :D

I've never tried to convert anybody. I'll convert anybody to christianity, but the common way of trying to convert anybody is a highly rude and intrusive approach. If there's such thing as a friendly approach, please aleart me.

Ask them kindly to watch the show? And also mention that it was Faust who created it and that she worked on Powerpuff Girls and Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends.

That should work.

I've tried many friends. 90% of them have failed. They laughed, they questioned, they have called me "gay" and "girly" but I still wear the title brony confidently. Though there is that 10% that I have succeeded in the transformation to a brony. The trick is just to make them sit through one episode. Sometimes people are just so stubborn I wanna tape them down to a chair and force them to watch just one episode so they would understand ;)
