Can the Mirror Legend be used to replicate armies?

This just hit me. Could the mirror lake hidden away in Everfree be used to create armies that would terrorize Equestria in a conquest attempt?

If the lake was uncovered by someone other than Equestrians again, then it could spell trouble for Celestia and her kingdom should it be used for malicious purposes. Who would make enemies with Celestia, though? It doesn't seem likely, but perhaps griffons once fought Equestrians during a part of their history and old tensions will arise again because of a madman.

There is definitely the danger of that, I actually though of it myself this morning. Although if each clone is essentially a one dimensional personification of one aspect of the original person it would likely be insanely hard to make an effective army out of them.

It probably could. That is an interesting thought. Maybe the reason nopony had gone there for such a long time is because of an ancient battle that took place using the pool to make more soldiers. (wow getting out of hand here)

Would it be so dangerous? As long as Celestia has lots of unicorns like Twilight who are aware of that spell Twilight learned, this is hardly a threat. One blast and boom, the individual(s) is/are sent back into the lake. As Twilight showed, she can zap numerous ponies at once, and as Pinkie showed us in the season two finale, Twilight has the capability of being a gattling gun xD

Not all ponies are Twlight, but yeah, I don't think it'd be an apocolyptic event. It'd be a big nuisance and something that needed the utmost attention to get rid of, but the clone army couldn't really do much damage because their numbers would be sliced down remarkably fast.

My theory is that it could, but as most soldiers need to be trained and have a sense of loyalty and duty, the clones may not have that and may need to be trained, essentially acting as new recruits. I think this could happen quite easily however with an army such as the Changelings, as we've seen that most of them tend to be driven by instinct to gain territory and feed.

Possibly, and that may be the reason the book was hidden so deeply in the library. Although, since the first Pinkie clone was extremely bubbly and didn't care about much else but fun, and all the rest of the clones cloned from that one were absolutely brainless fun machines, you have to wonder what would happen if a few soldiers got cloned too many times...

Imagine having to deal with a veritable army of semi-trained ponies running around the town screaming "WAR!" or something of the like. :|

The theory lies between the clones possessing only one trait from the original which would spell trouble for anyone involved. Once they've served their purpose they can be destroyed, or at least that's what the perpetrator would think.

This isn't new headcanon

Haha, yeah I suppose its possible, however that one guard that talked might disprove your theory or atleast shaken it.

Anyways I think its possible, but again they are very straightforward and seemingly very mindless. Plus twilight destroyed them with the spell she used pretty quickly, and easily. So I'd imagine it wouldn't be very effective anyways.

Plus I don't think its a well known place.

Well of course that guard talked, he was one of the originals ;)

The only real hole in the theory that comes to mind is why they wouldn't just clone Shining Armor.

Good point, however to be honest the way military rules are I wouldn't be supprised if the fact they show little personality or anything is because they are trained to do so and are punished in some form if they don't adhere to those rules.

It would also be strange to not just copy shinning armor. Maybe it would be to obvious :P.

What Chaotic Discord said. As long as you have enough unicorns to perform that spell (It doesn't seem like it's too difficult of a spell) then those other ponies can carry the unicorns around like machine guns and destroy them all pretty simply.

It's true that you can send a clone back to this pond rather easily . . . but let it also be noted that you can send the real thing back just as easily.  What if the enemy were to launch a full-scale attack using duplicates of the Mane 6?  If there were so many at once, it may become difficult to tell who is who.  When you're being attacked, especially by such a large army, there's no time to sit down and make them watch paint dry.  If they were all out in a giant field and were getting all mixed up, you may just see an aggressive Applejack fighting an aggressive Rainbow Dash.  Is either one real?  Are they both real?  Is the AJ fake?  Do you take the chance and zap one, or take the chance and not zap one?  Now that's pretty scary.  Imagine if Ponyville was taken over this way, and all of our beloved ponies replaced by one-dimensional clones . . .

Who would do such a thing?

Did you guess sharks? Because then you're wrong. The answer is nobody. Nobody but humans are that pointlessly cruel.

EDIT: >tfw nobody gets your reference.

Actually that changeling idea makes a lot of sense. I would imagine Equestria has some form of army/guard that keeps an eye on the boarders to prevent threats from sneaking in. Now a Changling Army would hard to hide even if they were disguised. Now suppose Chrysalis learns of the mirror pool before invading? She and a few elite soldiers could sneak past any form of boarder guards or patrols with ease then use the pool to create an army that would not only be near Canterlot but would also not require much feeding or any other logistics.

Also adding on to this, as you saw with so many Pinkie Pies, Pinkie could barely control any of them as soon as it got too big. It seems that the Mirror Legend replicated only your physical body and what matters most to you at the current time (in Pinkie's case, it was fun). If they replicated many armies, the soldiers wouldn't even know who to fight for, and, as shown in the episode, could turn on the owners.
