S03:E04 - One Bad Apple

The episode was alright, but it was not a great episode. If you ask me the episode kinda felt like "Ponyville Confidential." It just felt like it could have been resolved if they just told someone. Story was basic, like most CMC episodes and new character was alright. Also what was the CMC plan for Bab Seed? They just wanted the float to go in the mud. I just don't see how they be able to get back at her that way. Also what if that timer was off by a little? Wouldn't the float go into the crowd of watching ponies and injuring them.

 

If anything the song was good and we finally know where Sweetie Bell's home is. So that kinda helps her character out a little. Also Sweetie Bell had some cute faces in this episode.

 

One last thing, I don't care what anyone says, until I see Scootaloo flying in the sky I well not call that flying.

Definitely one of my more favorite episodes. Babs' accent was cool (I enjoy Northeastern accents for some reason...), the song was indeed very catchy, and the remixed A-Team background music playing during the building montage made me chuckle. Babs as a character was alright; not necessarily developed very well until towards the end of the episode. I thought it was fishy when she so readily joined up with Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon, so it wasn't a huge shocker to learn about her own bullying troubles. It did make me feel bad for her, though.

 

Also, Sweetie Belle is still best CMC.

A very, very enjoyable CMC episode, and a good episode dedicated to the bully concept. In the end, Babs' character is intriguing and I enjoyed her overall, once her motives were brought forth. I have to say, lots of things stuck out to me in this.

 

-The song may have been slightly repetitive in both song and use of the chorus's video section, but it reminds me of old Scooby-Doo cartoons and their chase scenes, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

-Scootaloo is a pro at drums. I enjoyed this.

-I do believe this may be the first on-screen time we've seen Applejack witnessing Diamond Tiara being a bitch to her sister and her two friends. You have no idea how much I would love to see AJ chew out DT, some time. I would die happy. Twice. I understand Applejack is likely to prefer to stay out of it as long as it's just teasing, and let her sister and her friends learn to deal with or ignore bullies themselves, but it's still a fun thought. Oh well. Babs showed em for now.

Or maybe it was a demonstration of the "bystander concept" that comes with bullying. More often than not, sadly, they tend to stay out of things rather than speak out. It seemed as if AJ was about to say something until Babs gloriously intervened like a total Bad(ass) Seed.

Alright, let's see what we got here.

 

-finally introducing the popular-and-essential-to-kids-shows bullying theme with a very fitting character for the title

-DT and SS are back and more...well, annoying then ever

-yet another fun, visually and audibly attractive song

-super incredible daww moments, especially Sweetie Belle, who seems to be my favorite CMC now in terms of cuteness

-the CMCs apparently getting in experienced in their own respective ways, such as Sweetie finally seen using some amount of magic, and Scootaloo being able to fly/hover for a longer amount of time

 

Overall, the theme played out very well, the animation and everything else is improving, this episode, after being viewed a few times, could possibly be up there among the elite, or at least possibly the best one of the season so far.

 

I'm more than satisfied with the 4 episodes we have so far, I can tell that, despite the season being very short, we can guarantee that this won't be anything less than brilliant.

I don't know why but that song during the episode just reminded me of Blink-182. Seriously that beat and the way the lyrics sounded just gave me that vibe and I loved that about the song.The episode was also pretty awesome too and and it touched on an important issue which was bullying. I doubt telling someone's mom is going to solve the problem but whatever. We all have our own ways of dealing with bullies. Anyways back to the episode! I freaking lost it when they made references to Star Wars (again) and The A-Team plus I loved pinkie's bad puns. It just adds that extra bit of humor and makes pinkie pie awesome!

Also, I'd really like to know what DT and SS were doing in Sweet Apple Acres to begin with, near the beginning of the episode. Unless a better explanation is given, I now assume DT is so very full of herself and so very contrived in her bullying ways, that she goes out and stalks the CMC, waiting for the chance to fulfill her talent of being a bitch. Maybe she even marks her calendar.

I really found myself relating to this new episode. being the victim of bullies for many years. So i really appreciated the fact that they did an anti bullying episode because it's a very serious thing. but I really disagreed with the fact that the cutie mark crusaders tried to get back at babs, because to me getting back at a bully is only fighting fire with fire and it brings the victim down to the bully's level.

 

I see Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon are as annoying as ever, but I really doubt they are going to change, lol. and it was really nice to see sweetie belle use magic! also I would like to see Diamond Tiara's attitude dealt with in some way! I also really enjoyed the new song.

The BEST CMC episode!! The only one I actually thoroughly enjoyed! The message was good, the humor was great, the animation was awesome and the visual gags were all there (I saw that pear hat Dr. Whooves...)

I absolutely loved this episode a lot more then I thought. I didn't think I'd like Babs Seed at all. She was a huge jerk, but not only did she apologize she stood up the bullies to stick up for the CMC that's more then Gilda ever did. Babs wasn't really a bad pony she was just very self conscious about not having a cutie mark and wasn't very good at peer pressure. I love Babs now, great episode, really great song. Hope to see more of Babs Seed soon.

I went on /mlp/ and looked around. Someone posted a link to a GNAA page with "mlp" in the URL; he warned everyone to not click on it unless you are using some kind of privacy program to stop GNAA from getting your IP, so I didn't look at it. But it's safe to say that we can confirm this as a GNAA hack which they tried to blame on /v/ to start a flame war. Although I didn't check, I'm told that /v/ doesn't have a single thread starting by angry Bronies in it, so it seems as if the hackers failed. A few Bronies have sent hatemail to GNAA, but mostly the reaction has been of calm annoyance and mockery of the poorly designed plan, as it should be.

 

Good job Bronies!

 

And so, armed with this new information, I gleefully made my way to GNAA's Encyclopaedia Dramatica page and noted their failure under the 'Re-revival' section. GNAA seems to have lost their lustre after weev was v&.

I actually didn't expect a whole lot from this episode, but I have to admit it might be my favorite so far in S3. And it actually might beat out alot of other episodes to. I also think this is probably one of the best CMC episodes in my opinion.

 

And did Scootaloo fly or something? I guess she can just flutter, she reminds me of a beetle or something lol.

The song was actually kinda catchy in my opinion, and babs was actually a pretty interesting charactor, Also pinkie managed to amuse me quite alot with her very small screen time and random lettuce puns lol.

 

And I for some reason really like when Sweetiebelle was like "UGHH WHY DOES LIFE HAVE TO BE SO IRONIC!?" That line made me love sweetiebelle extra for somereason o-o.

 

If I had to think of something I didn't like in the episode, it was sweetiebelles crying, it was to high pitched I think. But thats quite a small complaint.

 

Overall I came into this episode with just moderate to low expectations, and I was very pleasantly impressed. I hope all the episodes are this good! If not better in S3!

That was so utterly cute, probably one of my favorite episodes. The song was adorably catchy and I loved all the CMC scenes... Great episode, 9.5/10.
