Mine is Super Mario 3D Land so far :) Mostly because it was 3D and usually I can't finish Mario games but for that one I actually did. :)

Sonic > Mario

I've never really liked Mario much, and have hardly played his games. That said, there is one Mario game I adored, and that I've beaten 100%, and that's Super Mario Sunshine. Love that game. Love the water pack dynamic and cleaning things, it's so unique an idea.

I'd have to say that Super Mario Galaxy is my favorite.  It's long, varied, and has a much more interesting story than most Mario games.

The original Super Mario Bros. is also really fun to play, though, along with SMB3.

That's really all there is to say on the matter.

I like all of them but Super Mario 64 and Super Mario World have to be my all time favourites. I really want to play the new on the on Wii U because the new modes seem really interesting.

Super Mario 64. End of discussion.  That game was basically my entire childhood, well that and Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

Check me out! No, seriously, check me out.

Ooooh, so many good ones. I can't really pick one so I'll just list a few of my favorites:

  • Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door
  • Super Mario World
  • Mario 64
  • Super Mario Sunshine
  • Super Mario RPG
  • Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time
  • Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga
  • Luigi's Mansion

If you haven't noticed, I take a liking to the more RPG-styled Mario games which they just don't seem to be making anymore

Shoot, accidentally double-posted.  Sorry for this waste of what otherwise has the potential to be constructive conversation space!  (That's 100 characters, right?)

My favourite mario game would have to be paper mario for the nintendo 64. While it isn't a platformer, it was one of those games that I adored as a kid. I liked the combat and I especially liked the idea that there wasn't a level select screen and that everything was connected in a persistent world.

I ended up renting paper mario so many times that my parents bought it for me because it was evidently the cheaper option. I had the option of getting paper mario or super smash brothers and I picked this. No regrets at all.

It's a tie between Super Mario Bros. 3, and Super Mario World. I own them both, and still play them, they are incredibly fun to play. Mario Land 2 is really good too, but I no longer own my copy of that, and haven't played it in a long time, so it might just be nostalgia.

Edit: And Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars.

Mario Galaxy 2 > Mario 3D Land > Super Mario Bros 3 > Super Mario World > Super Mario Galaxy > Super Mario 64 > Super Mario Bros 2 (NA) > New Super Mario Bros > Super Mario Bros > Super Mario Sunshine > Super Mario Land 2 > NSMB Wii > Super Mario Bros 2 (JP) > Super Mario Land

My listings. None of those are bad but I like some more than others. Haven't played NSMB2 yet.

Paper Mario and Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door for me. (I have not played Sticker Star, yet, and yes I know it is different, but I'm definitely giving it a chance anyway)

I much prefer the RPGs of Mario than I do the platformers. I'm just not that big on platforming. However, I *will* say that out of the 3D platformers I prefer Sunshine and 64 over the rest, and by a wide margin. I do not like the linearity that has taken over all of the 3D platformers post Sunshine, and to be really honest here, I am very saddened to see those later titles getting such high regards.

The open worldness of Super Mario 64 was what made it something so special and set it so far apart from its predecessors, but with Galaxy and beyond, that is gone for the most part. With the consistent releases of brand new 2D Mario games, the 3D Mario games really need something to set themselves apart, and to be blunt, that just isn't there right now. And it has made me more frustrated with NSMB being spammed. All Mario platformers come off as the same, now.

My all time favourite Mario game is Super Mario Bros. i love it so much i got around 6 copies of it, the game is pretty much perfect for me, a joy every time i play it.(2 on NES, 1 on Famicom, 1 GBC, 1 3DS, 1 Wii.). Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario World come second, then Super Mario 64, and then Super Mario Galaxy 2. I love almost all of the Mario games but these will always hold a special place in my heart. For the RPG Mario series Paper Mario:TTYD is my favourite.

Three words: SUPER. MARIO. WORLD.

I legit can't stop beating this game. I can beat it, even if I go through Star World and the hidden special levels. But literally, it's the best Super Mario game I have ever played of all time.

Super Mario World was the first Mario game I ever played, so that's definitely my favorite.

I first played it when I was in second grade. My dad found his old SNES from when he was in college. I've took good care of it, and it still works.

Anyway, that game made me fall in love with all the classic games. It's just fantastic. The levels are designed with perfection, the map is amazing, the control is excellent, the animation on all the sprites are good, there's TONS of secrets, and you can even unlock a different map design.

I think that game made me want to make games. Super Mario World is by far my favorite.

Super Mario Bros. for the NES! But aside from that, It'll be the Mario & Luigi games. Partners in Time was really good, having four characters at once (In a way.) and Bowser's Inside Story was also amazing, because we get to control Bowser.
