your feels on EPIC orchestral music?

Motion Spark

Recommended Posts

Do you pay attention to the details displayed on movies trailers? Do you?

if that so, one of the things that should caught your eye should be the beautiful music that goes along with the movie cutscenes and flying texts. The kind of music that I enjoy the most is the epic orchestra genre.

you still don't know of what I'm talking about? here's an example, take a look at these trailers:

many of you may hate the Twilight Saga, but I just want you to focus on the trailers, the music and the way it blends with the scenes, then, tell me...how do you feel after? Can you relate this music into an EPIC battle scene? because I do...

I know that I go to the movie theater to see the movie, but I hate when I miss the trailers, and when I watch too many epic trailers, I just melt in my seat Posted Image

Still don't get me? try the music alone, this is the music that gives me the feels (maybe yours too):

  • Two Steps from hell - Moving Mountains.
  • AudioMachine - Guardians at the Gate
  • The End Epic Intrumental by farhankk360 on youtube (this is more of a hip hop instrumental but it's still EPIC)
  • X-RAY Dog - Dark Empire 3.0

To name just a few...

This feels more like a life advice thread because I wanted to talk about how these kind of music makes me feel but in the end it's music so, I think it's better if I just "hang" this thread on here Posted Image

What are your thoughts on epic orchestral music? what do you feel when you listen to it?

let me talk about what do I feel...

The things I feel when I listen to these music are very hard to explain, any other genre of music makes me feel as philosophical and pensative as this genre. Usually when I listen to it for the first time, if I like the music, I feel goosebumps all over my body, especially my arms and legs. If it is TOO EPIC to handle, I end up teary eyed and moved.

I feel stronger, motivated, inspired, artistic, I feel like writing a poem or a song, even if I am not musical at all, I feel like I can achieve any goal I have in life, I feel like I can fight against a whole army by myself and still win, I feel badass and EPIC. But at the same time, I feel sad, I feel depressed, vulnerable, lonely, I feel empty, even kind of angry with myself, with the world. It's just so much feels Posted Image

I'm thoughtful, I'm concerned, I think about me, about others, about life, isn't that weird? Posted Image

the weird thing, is that I enjoy all these mixed emotions :x and I feel all of this in 2 or 3 minutes of the lenght of the music. Have you heard of that term eargasm? well I feel it deep when my ears are seduced with this music.

So now, tell me...how do you feel when you listen to a very EPIC orchestral soundtrack? I'm curious Posted Image

I listen to EPIC OST a lot, but most of them come from videogames OST's and Videogame Concerts, my favorite piece on this genre comes from Shadow of the Colossus names Revived Power. It makes you feel legendary.

Probably my favorite genre. Dancing mad (Distant worlds, not the 16-bit original) is glorious as an orchestral piece, and I've heard it was great live. (I'm so jelly of those who got to see it, jellier than jelly pony.)

While all orchestral pieces seem to tell a story, this one in particular strikes me. You can feel the very essence of Kefka and his madness radiating off of this piece. Other orchestrals have a similar effect, I drift off and imagine epic scenes. (Usually containing OC's of mine, ponies or otherwise.)

I love this genre of music and I have listened to quite a bit of it. It gives me a sort of empowering feeling when I listen to this type of music and legitimately beating qwop for the first time with this song playing in the background couldn't have been more epic.

EDIT: Did this challenge again for old time sake. A bit rusty, but it felt just as epic.

YEEEES! I love this type of music!

My favorite group for this type of stuff has to be Two Steps From Hell; they make some AMAZING stuff.

This is one of their best works yet, and it definitely takes on the "war" feel:

Another outstanding group is Audiomachine, as they've done trailer music for the Lord of the Rings: The Hobbit movie and the Hunger Games.

This particular piece may be my favorite orchestral track of all time, called "Prologue & Birth". Some of you may recognize it from "The Life of Pi" trailer that recently came out:

Music is just SO COOL!!! Edited by CloudFyre

Now THIS is my kind of thread.  I absolutely adore this genre.  From the Latin choir of One-Winged Angel to the cathedral organ in Dancing Mad to the obscene amount of bass in Two Steps From Hell, this is by far some of the most enjoyable music to listen to.  What I truly love about it is how it seems to define emotions in ways that words can't.  For example, I could tell you about how I came across a seemingly insurmountable problem that had to be solved, and how stressful it was followed by the sudden realization of the answer and how to arrive there, or I could just play

and then Dragon Rider.  I could tell you about the death of someone I loved and my challenges coping with it, or I could just play
.  The emotions portrayed by this music are so complex, but so very relatable.

Now, if you haven't heard of this guy before, I'm sorry.  There is a decent chance that I'm about to suck away several hours of your life.  There's a channel on Youtube called DragonstarDT.  He has a series of videos called 'Epic Music Mix' where he takes a bunch of epic songs and mixes them together nearly flawlessly.  They are wonderful and I highly recommend them (personal faves are IV, V, X, XV, and XVII, but you guys judge for yourselves).

For years I've been a stark fan of Star Wars music, some of the most epic tracks in history come from Star Wars. Battle of Yavin, Battle of Hoth, Battle of Endor, Duel of the Fates, the Asteroid Field. So epic.

I love orchestra! Orchestra and Electronic are both my favorite genre of music.

Monster Hunter has some of the best orchestra ever composed. It can definitely give John Williams a run for his money.

I remember watching Nintendo's E3 last year, though that E3 was a complete garbage, I cannot say the same thing about the TLOZ 25th anniversary montage they did! :D

It was epicly beautiful, the cutscenes beutifully blended with the live music. My was moved by the music, my whole body was shivering, I think I even cried a little, even though I'm not a fan fo Zelda at all.

Now if I am not a fan, and felt like this...could you imagine how a HUGE fan of zelda who played the games since day 1 and grew up with them must have felt in that moment, how about the crowd. I'd pay to see these poeple's raw emotions. :D

I've listened to this way too many times in the past few weeks.  It doesn't have any visual story to go with it, but if you have the time to listen to it all the way through, it's pretty breathtaking.

Allow me to introduce you (if you don't already know) to Gustav Holst, the composer of The Planets suite, which was a huge influence for John Williams' Star Wars music.  One of the more influential of the movements is

Now if only this was performed by a live orchestra...  Otherwise, no complaints in the slightest.

EDIT: I think that I may have just had a rare stroke of brilliance.  Let Mr. Dr. Prof. Patrick explain:

Orchestral is one genre I simply do not have enough of. All I got is Sup Com's OST which is very good and very underrated.

I'll have to keep an eye on this thread. Cause I can always use more orchestra.

Does this sum up my feelings appropriately? XD

Still, no words can contain my adoration for amazing orchestral pieces. Especially movie soundtracks, and brony orchestral pieces.

That is why my favorite some of my favorite brony musicians are

NightBreeze (http://www.youtube.com/user/nightbreeze13),

Legendary (http://www.youtube.com/user/Legendary),

and CommandSpry (http://www.youtube.com/user/commandspry).

If you've never listened to any of their music, please go do so. It's incredible....brony musicians are so amazing /)^3^(\

Since I play piano and tuba for my high school symphonic band, and I plan to have a future in music composition/theory and education, I deem this thread "Full of Win"

Epic "Actiony Save the world" sorta music is good for when I want to get pumped up for something or I'm exercising or something like that.

Epic "Heroic/One Last Push/Hopeful" music is good for when you're reading or have feels, and you need to lift your spirits or something.

Epic "Sad/mournful/painful" music is good for when ALFRED YOU FAILED MASTER WAYNE'S PARENTS AND YOU'LL NEVER LIVE UP TO ANYTHING EVER AGAIN /sobs uncontrollably

Yeah, that's how I feel.

Btw, that really was the saddest thing I ever saw: Michael Caine crying as Alfred...

Yes, it was clearly the best part of E3, no doubt. Not only did they show great quality during that year's E3 but also in the game Skyward Sword which features fully orchestral soundtracks. It's truly one of those games i wish i could go back and experience for the  first time again.

Let's not forget the amazing fan project, the Twilight Symphony by the famous group ZREO which will be out soon. It's amazing what they have accomplished and it's no surprise that Nintendo has decided to step in and help them.

I've decided that he's my favorite brony musician ever!!! :D

It's a bummer that he's not even famous and well known, he should be sharing success with MandoPony or The Living Tombstone.

He has few music  but, man my favorites are from his, however I don't feel "orchestra" in his music, but is indeed electronic (which I like) and EPIC (which I like more). These 2 are my favorites from him:

The Celestia one, ALL THE FEELS! sad.png  it didn't help that I was experimenting a lot of emotions at the moment when I first heard of this song. I instantly became sort of depressed and wanted somepony to hug me badly :<

You can feel Celestia and Luna on both of these songs, in the Celestia one, you can feel her and her magic warming the citizens of Ponyville. Heck, if she's playable in the Fighting is Magic game, I want her to have this soundtrack but shortened! it would be EPIC!

@@Jonke, Nintendo last year E3 failed to me because they didn't show up games, and they focused on announcing things that weren't even in development. The filled the hour they got to their presentation with things like this Legend of Zelda Montage, though it was beautiful, they used it to make time because of the lacking content.

(Without going too far in the off topic direction, i'll make it short.)

It didn't necessarily fail, it was just lacking content because of the start of a new console (3DS) and the end of a console (Wii). The details for the new games just weren't there, with the exception of Skyward Sword and a few big 3DS highlights. ( Kid Icarus: Uprising, Super Mario 3D Land, etc)

Even though they didn't show much for the Wii U (known as Project Café back then), they knew Skyward Sword (along with the 3DS games) would make their E3 conference successful. The orchestral montage was a great way to promote their upcoming big release. (Along with the OoT remake, the anniversary edition of Four Sword for free and the eshop release of Link's Awakening DX)  . I think many appreciated it.

While this wasn't my favorite E3, it was far from failure in my opinion.
