Does anyone actually think the Friendship Reports are going to make a return?

When Season Two ended, I literally thought: "Wow, they have covered so many aspects of friendship! It's gonna be harder next season."

Have I missed some vital information of sorts from Equestria Daily? Is there something I don't know? Or is it that the reports have been scrapped altogether.

For anytime it says "clowns", replace with "letters" ^_^

I thought the same thing, I really enjoyed the letters and hope that they return. But eventually they will run out of things to say.

I was wondering this to. I hadn't noticed any letters to Celestia, but I doubt that they are gone all together. They didn't do them at the end of every episode in the other seasons so I'm sure we'll see them again.

I think they have been scrapped altogether, which saddens me. Because I miss the "Dear Princess Celestia..." voice every episode D:

Very true. I wouldn't want to be on Celestia's front now. Trollestia will be very displeased... and that's not good for the mane six!!!

I don't really mind it all that much to be honest. They've been making the morals fairly clear and they're just using the time that they would spend spelling out the lesson developing the plot instead. Consider today's episode, I think it was much better that it ended on the heartwarming moment than it did, rather than with Scootaloo writing a letter. Just my opinion, but I'm sure we'll get another letter soon.

Well, I suppose technically they covered that this episode, with Luna's appearance. I'm sure Luna reported to Celestia that Scootaloo learned that she shouldn't have to hide anything to be liked. True friends will like you for who you are.

Episode 1 and 2 don't get letters, as they're part of the season premiere.

Episode 3 did have a letter, as Pinkie did learn a lesson. Remember?

Dear Princess Celestia, it's great to have fun, but it's even greater to have great friends.  And having lots of friends means that you sometimes have to make choices as to who you'll spend your time with....

Episode 4 was a CMC episode, so no letter.

Episode 5 Celestia was present, so of course Twilight wouldn't send a letter to her.

Episode 6 was a Scootaloo episode, so again, no letter.

It's just the weird timing of the episodes being aired. There's only been one episode in this season so far with a letter, but I don't think it's because they're trying to ditch the moral format, it's just that CMC episodes don't have letters. I actually could see Twilight giving the moral in person to Celestia in Magic Duel, but since the moral could be interpreted as many things (such as "Apologizing is good" or "even though something seems impossible your friends will always be there to lend a helping hoof") I don't really blame them for not including something like that.

Well, yeah, SEND IN THE LETTERS! But that means lesson zero all over again...*sigh*

Also in Sisterhooves Social they did send in a letter, but was a CMC episode. Technically.

Well I think it just hasn't been a suitable place for them to send letters much of the time. but I don't think its been scrapped, just not placed in every episode.

I think to many pinkie pies has a letter in it, not sure though.

To be honest though, the lessons in the episodes have been pretty clear, so it hasn't exactly been a requirement. Plus without the letter sending thats like atleast 30 seconds of extra screentime :) To do something else with.

I don't know if i'd mind if they had the letters or not, I don't really mind them being in the episodes, but I don't mind them not being in the episodes that much either, so i guess i'm neutral to the subject.

I really don't mind at all. I don't want them to have to force an episode a certain way just so that it shows someone learning something. It would basically end up with the same lessons shown in different ways which would get dull quickly. I'm sure they will pop up from time to time though as Too many Pinkies shows.

I've been wondering about this... Maybe Twilight's studies have advanced to the point where she no longer needs to send letters to Celestia. Maybe Celestia fell off a cliff or ate a poisoned sandwich during the season 3 pilot and died. Maybe Twilight gained a "F*** da Police!" attitude sometime during the interim between seasons and no longer cares about sending letters.

Dear Princess Celestia,

Sometimes it's fun to listen to scary stories, but later when you're alone in bed, not so much. It's great to have somepony to talk over your dreams with.

Luna is now my favorite Princess! Please tell her I said so!

Love,

Scootaloo.

PS. Why is it suddenly dark, I feel so light *Gasp-Choke* and there isn't any air?!?!

I really don't mind the lack of letters - in season 2 it seemed like they were stretching for a good 'moral' and I think they repeated themselves a couple times, but put the same message in different words. My thoughts is that they'd only do it when it's one of the Mane Six and it's a particularly unique lesson.

The letters were the series' biggest encumbrance. They kept it at a childish level of learning life lessons which often sidn't make sense. Sometimes episodes clearly did seem to have a moral, but the letters suggested it was something completely different (Feeling Pinkie Keen and Winter Wrap Up are good examples).

In the first real episode of Season Two, Hasbro made the smart move of phasing out the letters with Celestia telling Twily that they aren't necessary. Now the show can move on without them :)
