Do you like ponies or animes or even both? What is your fave anime and/or pony? I would most likely say both and my fave pony is... I think is RD (Rainbow) or DJ Spin Pony. And I would say that I don't have a fave anime there are just to many to like!

Animes and ponies fighting for popularity... Animes have been around longer than our current generation of ponies but ponies have taken the world by storm. In a war of popularity, anime will fight with swords, guns, and giant boomerangs but ponies will fight back harder with magic and the friendships involved.

im not a huge fan of anime to be honest. i dunno. theres a dude in dragon ball z with some large-ass hair he seems pretty good. and fluttershy id best pony

I think animes and MLP are just too different to compare, considering animes may have very different genres. MLP is still just one cartoon and putting it next to hundreds (if not thousands) of other cartoons is just pointless.

Both. My favorite anime are Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni and Kodomo no Omocha (Kodocha). My favorite MLP characters are AJ and Luna. My interest in both have declined lately, yet at the same time, I've been more active in both fandoms.

Anime is pretty cool. I really like Fullmetal Alchemist, Eureka 7, Naruto, Code Geass, and Samurai 7.

 

However, I prefer ponies over anime. It doesn't mean I don't like anime, I just like ponies more.

Shounen animes are, and sorry for anyone who likes these shows, extremely boring in my opinion and seem to drag on forevvveeerrr. Naruto, for example, has almost three f.cking hundred episodes and have been aired for five years now. Oh NO way I'd go and watch something that long. Plus they show a battle for like four episodes. Thanks but no thanks!

 

If we take more "mature" anime though, or even more refined (and shorter) ones, MLP may not come in first. Well, the animes I watch are rather dark themed, so it'd still be pointless to try and compare.

INUYASHA (fav anime), actually, I've been wanting to write a fanfic crossover of Inuyasha and ponies, but it's only a concept (I gotta finish my other fanfic before I work on ideas for another haha) My fav pony? uuh... What is interesting about this current generation of MLP is that its animation style does have more of an anime influence than previous ones. I like anime more simply because there is a lot more of it but I am not going to deny that I love ponies, I wouldn't be here if I didn't.

Full metal alchemist  like ponies  carries a  message  but the message that it carries  is  different.  Messages of "moving forward no matter the odds we keep going'  and 'love and tolerance'     the pony moral message is a lot  more of a happier theme.  I know i know cause  the show is geared toward children. so therefore it has to be.  but in general i do like shows that have some form of 'moral message'

Ponies are much more adorable then anything I've ever seen in any old anime.

 

However to be honest I don't really like much of any anime.

Only thing I really like anime wise is dragonball Z, and I like MLP way better then that anyways.

 

Ponies ftw Super powerful magic, Flying ability, and extreme cuteness is to much to handle.

 

Plus ponies can give you diabetes.

I gotta be a minority here not liking anime. I can absolutely see the anime influences in MLP:FIM. That's cool, but that is all the anime-ness I can take.

 

Every time I watch an anime more than 10 minutes, I get a headache.

 

I swear it must be all the mercury from all the seafood the Japanese eat. I still love them though. (squee)

I'd say both, I watched Excel saga (even though I'm heavily a HELLSING fan)

 

my favorite pony is Derpy. but if there is going to be a version of the Excel saga theme song, Replace Excel with Pinkie pie, and princes Hyaat with Fluttershy (blood coughing and terminal illness included)

Uh. Well. I really enjoy many different animes, actually recently reread a manga and rewatched an anime. I also like MLP: FiM. I guess I'd vote to say before, be it for different reasons.

I watch a bit of anime when I was younger and that was whatever was on adult swim on Saturday night.  My favorite was Cowboy Bebop but I like ponies more then I like anime and thanks to that (and the history channel and A&E) anime dead to me! =D

There are 1000s of anime series out there ~ and only 1 pony series (eh, ok. Not true. But... Only 1 I like. ). I personally think that most people can like SOME sort of anime, depending on their tastes. It ranges *so* much with each generation, each animation company, each genre... 

 

I like some old school stuff (80s~90s), and most of the modern is too weirdly paced for me (and feels like its all been done before). 

 

My favorite pony? Applejack. Luna definitely comes in second.

I've watched a few animes, like Hellsing, Clannad, and some Bleach, but I'm not a big fan. I won't say that I like ponies better, as this discussion seems like a comparison between apples and oranges.

How can you compare them? You're pitting a single TV show against basically every single animated show in Japan. 

 

Without making it too complicated, based on the anime I've watched (which isn't much, I've only watched all shoujo and my favorite is Ouran High School Host Club) it's ponies by far, but I can't just pit anime in general against ponies. There's too much anime and I haven't watched all of it. Who knows? Maybe there's an anime I haven't watched that I would think is better than ponies.  -_-

It very much depends on the ponies and the anime. For example, I like Death the Kid from Soul Eater more than all ponies in MLP except for Fluttershy.

I don't know, anime is a bit too niche and wide-ranging(if that makes sense) for me to want to watch everything made by everyone, the only ones I've really watched fully are Dragon Ball Z and Soul Eater. So yeah, ponies are better, if not more original.

At my last con AWA (Anime Weekend Atlanta) the population of bronies was at least 15%

And that was the biggest con in the Southeast next to Dragon Con
