Should Twilight and Fluttershy have somepony who looks up to them?

So after watching the episode, "Sleepless in Ponyville," we can now say that four of the mane 6 have somepony that looks up them. Applebloom looks up Applejack, Sweetie Bell wants to be closer to Rarity, Rainbow Dash and Scootaloo have a more stronger bond together, and Pound Cake and Pumpkin Cake have Pinkie Pie to look up to as a kinda big sister. They can be so so. Anyway each of them has someone, but Fluttershy and Twilight don't really have anyone that looks up to them.

 

So should they have someone that looks up to them?

 

For Twilight I don't see her being a sister figure, but more of a mentor figure. I see a young unicorn coming up to Twilight asking her to teach him or her magic. Twilight agrees, but the unicorn wants to learn high level magic and not the weak stuff. In the end the unicorn learns something from Twilight. That is what I think she needs. Also Pumpkin Cake could be to, deepening on if they age them or not. To what that show has some us, not anytime soon. Or Cadence and Shining Armor could have a kid and he or she likes Twilight. Still might be to much like "Baby Cakes."

 

Now Fluttershy is hard one to look at as a role model or sister figure. Seeing as she is socially awkward. Maybe a pony who has the same love for animals as she does or one who has the same gift as hers. It could even be a pony who is the opposite of her. This one being more out going and not afraid as much. 

 

Now if they did do that the new ponies don't have to be CMC. They could even have their cutie marks already and just want to advance their studies, so they can be better.

 

So what do you guys think?

I agree that I can't see Fluttershy being assertive enough to take anyone under her wing, but I think she's basically a mother or caretaker to all the little critters, so that could count for her.

Hmmm, well, I think they should have someone that looks up to them, like another unicorn. Possibly a foul. All of the animals look up to Fluttershy, but she's not really a role model, but rather a caretaker. I think it would be a good thing to make them mentors

Oh, i would just love to have a sister! I really feel down at times, and i would really would love to have a sister to come and comfort me when i need somepony to talk to, even though i have friends like RainbowDash or Pinkie Pie, but sometimes i'm just afraid!!

Fluttershy would most likely be a Sister figure, cause shes the most adorable pony ever, very sweet and loves to hang out with her friends, but she would also love to have somepony related to her.

 

in this world, i do look up to her because she makes me feel better when i am down   and she brightens up my day like Pinkie Pie does too!

Well I don't really count Twilight and Spike. True the whole care giver thing is true for them, but Twilight can't teach Spike any kinds of magic. It just seems like she could teach another magic. I don't know, I just feel like she could do more.

 

Fluttershy is also a caretaker to the animals of Ponyville, but it seems like the animals of Ponyville don't have the same instincts as the animals of the Everfree forest do. So if they had that instinct they would not her help.

 

Also The Stare Master episode, kinda forced the CMC and Fluttershy to interact with each other, when other times they would not. Also they have not talked to her in some times.

 

Still I could be off and you all could be right.

Yep, Spike is definitely Twilight's younger sibling equivalent. But I can totally picture Twilight being a teacher in the future, and perhaps winding up with a "personal protege" of her own, much like she is to Celestia.

 

I think Fluttershy would only work with a well matched personality. Quiet, socially awkward/outcast type, perhaps a bit emo But it would certainly be interesting.

 

Also, it will be interesting to see if Scootaloo and Fluttershy interact more now, given Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash's long history together. Obviously Scootaloo already respects her after the cockatrice incident, but it would be great fuel for Flutterdash shipping to get the 3 of them together without Sweetie Belle and Apple Bloom around

I dont know about Twilight. She seems fine on her own even if you dont count Spike And Shining Armor.

 

Fluttershy however i think needs someone like that.

He kinda does.Sure,he can't learn magic,but that doesn't mean he can look up to Twilight as a role model and mother.As for Fluttershy and the CMCs...why?They each already have somebody to look up to (Applebloom and Applejack,Sweetie Belle and Rarity,and now Scootaloo and Rainbow Dash),so it really wouldn't make much sense to have the CMCs look up to Fluttershy.Besides,like other posters said,Fluttershy's more of a caretaker than a role model.I'd much rather see her take an orphan under her wing rather than some new filly/colt look up to her.

Well Twilight kinda has spike in a way, and Fluttershy is to shy to take any other pony under her wing really. She takes care of animals so that kinda counts.

 

Twilight is to busy with study's and adding another character would be just that much more screen time they have to accommodate for.

So I don't think its necessary to have Twilight or Fluttershy have an Apprentice or anything like that.

I don't if both of these characters need that. As mentioned before Twilight has Spike I guess, but I'm not truly convinced because their relationship is very confusing.

 

What I really wish is for Spike to have a dragon mentor.

I think the way the show is being lead is good. I like the surprise that comes with every episode. So if a new filly comes to town needing a mentor and Fluttershy or Twilight are to be his(her) "Sister" Then that's what its going to be. I just love how the directors take the show sometimes, so I trust them with the decisions.

Well, considering he doesn't seem to show any kind of notable interest in reading or science, I'd say Spike's probably a no-go there. Other than that, as a sisterly figure would still suffice.

 

Anywho, look at the three who look up to their sisters right now. It's all three members of the CMC (leave Babs Seed, of whom has so much character development thus far in only appearing in a single episode yet). I'd say the buck stops here in terms of looking up to the mane 6. It's already half of the group, and the theme is just CMC. I'd prefer it stay that way, the club shouldn't get too crowded. Yeah, they all have their own pets, but I think three sister pairs is just fine.

 

I mean, it's perfect the way it is. All three care about their younger sisters, the two pairs we've had for a while have had enough screen time to be shown going through ups and downs...I mean, three is a perfect number if you ask me. As much as I'd love for everyone else (especially Pinkie– not that I don't think the Cake twins aren't fitting, it's just I thought this area would more affiliate with fillies and colts, not foals) to have their own younger pony to look up to, I'm perfectly okay with what we have now.

But...why is Pinkie Pie being left out of the discussion?  Yes, she has a reputation as a party head who doesn't know when to take things seriously.  And even I was surprised that the Cakes considered hiring Rainbow Dash to babysit their foals before Pinkie Pie.  But she'd be a better adult role model than the person Powerpuff Girl Bubbles looked to as a mentor:  Townsville's Mayor, lol!

I agree with you on that. Pinkie Pie would most likely be Pound Cake and Pumpkin Cakes role model. The only thing is that they are still pretty young and have not been seen in the show that much. But it's just implied that Pound and Pumpkin will look up to Pinkie Pie. So Pinkie Pie at least has a pony who like her.

 

Twilight and Fluttershy just don't have characters who would get advices from them or ask them for help.

Having someone look up to Fluttershy would be interesting....A filly that admires her kindness and skill with animals. With someone looking up to her, Fluttershy would have to be brave for her little friend. She'd develop, and get more bravery, while still being the Fluttershy we know and love.

If you ask me Apple Bloom to a certain extent looks up to Twilight.

For example when Twilight was trying to rationalize about everypony's unnecessary fear of Zecora in the episode Bridle Gossip the only pony who listened and agreed with Twilight was Apple Bloom. Also Apple Bloom seemed genuinely surprised when near the end of the episode that Twilight had seemed to abandon rational thinking and started believing that Zecora was evil. It makes me think that Apple Bloom is thinking "You know, I can imagine my sister believing this mumbo jumbo, but you(referring to Twilight)?"

 

Another example in my mind is the episode Show Stoppers when Twilight tells the CMC that they should think of what they're already good at for the school talent show, Apple Bloom initially knows who should do what role, but Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo have other ideas and Apple Bloom just goes along with it. This tells me that the only one who really listened and understood what Twilight meant was Apple Bloom.

 

Also I don't know if this counts but remember the Twilightlicious thing that Tara Strong did for YouTube? Well in the episode Pinkie Apple Pie Apple Bloom did something that almost mirrors that "Who's got the map I got the map M to the A to the yeah that's right P. Ain't no other pony find a map like me. I'm Apple...uh oh." One could say that just like how Scootaloo emulates Rainbow Dash the pony she looks up to that Apple Bloom was emulating Twilight the pony(besides AJ obvs.) who Apple Bloom looks up to. So if you ask me Twilight already has a pony who looks up to her.

 

On a side note I think it's cute whenever Twilight calls Apple Bloom 'sweetie'.

Twilight is talented, no doubt about that. She is definitely going to have her own personal student soon enough considering she is a Princess.

 

For Fluttershy there are bound to be some fillies and colts who love animals and they have great respect for Fluttershy who takes care of them and they want to be like her.

 

Both Ponies are pretty good role models so they definitely should.

why, though, would they need somepony to look up to them? I think having 4 out of 6 ponies already being looked up to by someone else is plenty. Having the entire cast being looked up to by a younger or less inexperienced pony would seem boring, as it wouldn't allow for variety. We'd just be looking at 6 mentors or hero figures. Having some of the mane 6 be left without what Rainbow Dash, Rarity, Pinkie, and Apple Jack have with a younger generation adds a nice simplistic flavor. Not everything needs extra ingredients added to it.
