    Well, this was an surprisingly superb premiere! The animation is good, the story was interesting and I love how they actually showed the origins of the elements, the defeat of Discord and the banishment of Nightmare Moon (plus an epic battle to boot!). The elements are now gone which I really like. DIscord was awesome! What I didn't like is Applejack's and the rest of the girls decision to send Twilight back. It was stupid beyond belief, they treated Twilight lack of flying abilities as a absolute handicap for her, forgetting that she can still walk and cast powerful magic. And as a personal note I wonder what they will do with Spike in season 4, with all the worldbuilding they did with the princesses and the elements(something that the fandom have always loved to talk about), I expect we get to see an episode (maybe a two-parter) that finally explores Spike character in more depth.

    This has always intrigued me. Fluttershy is always seen by the fandom as the doormat character in the series even though we have seen her limits and what she is capable of since season 1. Spike on the other hand is always portrayed as a coward that doesn't have anything going on for him, always obeying what he is told and always being pushed around. Yeah, IMO Spike is THE super doormat in this show.

    Well, the only Spike episode I really liked was Secret of my excess, but yeah his other episodes were not great. Dragon Quest had the potential to be awesome but fell flat.

    Its one of the oldest episode ideas of the fandom and one of the best ones. Seriously, the possibilities for character development are huge. I don't know if we ever going to get an episode like this.

    Honestly, he is the only character I'm rooting for in season 4. All I want to see in future Spike episodes is giving him an awesome dragon role model and for once having Spike giving Twilight a piece of his mind.

    I got mixed reactions from the new trailer. The beginning looked very interesting and exiting, there really funny moments, like Twilight walking in all fours, and by the looks of it Sunset Shimmer probably will be a very a dark villain. Also there were moments that the cast looked really cute and I like that. However I'm not sure about the start of the plot, so crown gets stolen and Twilight has to go alone again to retrieve it, why she doesn't bring her friends alone? They are not supposed to be a team? Whats up with this?.... but there is something that I still hate about Equestria Girls, and that is Spike the fucking dog, who can talk now... but still that doesn't make this right. Spike is now the girls' pet rather than their friend, he never felt like a pet to me... why the hell do they did this to him!!

    Nah... I don't think Equestria Girls is going to destroy the fandom. If it bombs, the fandom will think its shit, make fun of it and move on.

    Spike being a dog is the only thing that completely sucks about Equestria Girls so far. He is a character that had a personality and development, and seeing him being degraded into a dog is insulting for his fans. I feel that the decision on turning Spike into a dog was a cop out, an easy route the writers took to put him into EG. Makes me sad

    Well well... Equestria Girls... I'm starting this by saying that I like humanized ponies if done right, but the early artwork of EG was NOT done right IMO. It seemed so over saturated with girlyness and the rumors of Spike being a dog didn't make it sound better. But after seeing the trailer, I have to say it doesn't look that bad... I'm glad they changed the artwork, it looks better and sometimes, it even looked cute. However I'm not sure about the story, it looks like a generic high school story: with prom dance, prom queen, Twilight possibly falling in love with generic popular guy (or "Brad" as the internetz have nicknamed him), and popular girl antagonist. So I'm not particularly excited about this, but I'm going to watch it anyway. However the only thing that pisses me off is: Spike being a dog.... FUCKING BULLSHIT

    If you ask me, the king of underrated characters in this series is Spike. No contest. The majority of the fandom either doesn't care about him or just hate him. He is THE misfit character in this series, a lone dragon in a world of ponies. Sometimes I feel so bad for him, He seriously needs better character development. I could say more but I'm tired

    This. With all the ridiculous power the ponies have, I can easily see why other races may hate them. I mean, ponies can control the weather, they can cast powerful spells, they control the sun and the moon and they have very powerful Elements of Harmony. In my headcanon: Ponies are the arrogant race. They may think the entire world revolves around them and look down on every other race, because they don't have the society and power the ponies do.

    I think that at the end of the series all major character arcs will be finished. Twilight will still be a pretty princess (she may succeed Celestia to the throne), Rainbow Dash will become a Wonderbolt, Rarity will become a famous fashionista, Pinkie Pie may create her own bakery franchise called Pinkie's Pies, Fluttershy will be in charge of her own animal care center, Applejack will get a bigger farm, and finally the CMC will finally get their cutie marks. But I'm worried about Spike though, what will happen to him, I will be sad if he gets stuck being Twilight's assistant forever.

    I understand where you're coming from, and I for once I would love an episode that show us that the other species are not inherently evil and that ponies are not all that good as we thought they are. We need a non-pony species to be redeemed, if they did it with Discord, we should give an entire species the same chance as well. BUT... I think choosing the Changelings as the species to be redeemed is not the way to go. Why, because I think there is another species that needs that kind of treatment more badly than the Changelings; a species that, if redeemed, will help a main character that desperately needs more development and growth. Of course I'm talking about Dragons and Spike. Why? Because a Spike is a dragon that lives among ponies, he maybe is the only one in this situation, all he knows about his own species is how evil they are. I think having an episode that showcases Dragons in a positive way and Ponies in a negative one will put a lot of things in perspective, Spike will discover that there is good in being a dragon and the Mane 6 will learn that their own species are not saints, plus Spike could get a dragon mentor, an old master that will teach all the stuff he needs about dragons. Bottom line, Spike is still a baby dragon, it doesn't matter that at the end of Dragon Quest he decides to live as a pony, he will eventually grow up, and he will face new dragon related issues, and without a proper role model to help him to deal with his own nature... Spike is doomed.

    There is one old fic that I've read that is basically about Twilight being an immortal princess and becoming the new ruler of Equestria, her pony friends are dead so her only companion left is Spike, he also becomes immortal in the story, the rest of the story is Twilight and Spike living through millennia as lovers, the ending is pretty sad (this fic is a clopfic btw )

    Season 4 will start with EPIC MONSTERS, EPIC VILLAINS, EPIC PONIES, EPIC PRINCESSES, EPIC BATTELS, AND EPIC LAZER BEAMS, EPIC EPIC EPIC EPIC EPIC GAMES.... Joking aside, Its safe to say that it will be a 2 part episode, and I don't think that Twilight will revert back to being an unicorn considering that the show made Twilight's coronation a big fucking deal.

    Hmm... Interesting and sad at the same time, it makes me wonder why she left the show and what would have been the direction of the show if she had stayed.

    I think it was an ok episode, not the best, but definitely not the worst. My major problem with this episode is that everything was so freaking fast, there were a lot of shit going on in this episode and it was so rushed to the point I didn't feel that invested in the characters at all. Like for example, Twilight's guilt for messing up the spell and ruining her friends destinies, I honestly didn't feel Twilight's sadness because the episode didn't show her mistake as a consequence of a particular character flaw, like her OCD, lack of foresight or something like that, instead it was just "Oh look! An incomplete Starswirl spell, time to finish it! Uh... I don't get it, time to sleep!", and that's it. Other annoyance is that this episode was overloaded with songs, but I never really liked the songs in this series, so this is just me. Now the big thing! Alicorn Twilight... personally I'm not against the idea, like Kyronea said, this will probably mean a change in the series, now the series could explore new territory and new stories could be told. The only thing that should be noted is that Twilight becoming an alicorn and achieving her destiny basically tells that her character arc is over (or really close to be over) so there is the possibility of a less centered Twilight Sparkle season 4, and this probably is a good thing because the show will have more room to explore and develop the other characters. Awaiting season 4

    Oh look a Spike thread!!.... these are very rare. The reasons why Spike is the most neglected character in this show are really a no-brainer. The focus of this show are the ponies and their magic, also the fans of this show obviously like the ponies them the most. Out of the 10 prominent characters (with this I mean characters with developed personality and character arcs) in this show, 9 are pony girls with Spike being the only guy dragon, so being from a different species and gender plays a big part on this, it also doesn't help that Spike character is mostly composed of negative attributes, he is insecure, weak, coward, greedy, selfish, incompetent and sometimes a douche, and the past two Spike centered episodes putted a big question mark on the few redeeming qualities about him. Even his species are put on a negative light as well, depicting dragons as greedy bastards, primitive and brutish assholes who don't care about anything but themselves and overall evil... and Spike is only better because his pony upbringing, so he must reject everything about this nature because dragons are bad. I like the character, he has potential, put it pains me that the writers are taking the easy route when it comes to his character: and that is depicting him as the "annoying, mean, self centered and cowardly little pain-in-the-ass brother", and I hate it, I fucking hate it. I really hope that season 4 improves his character...

    Wrong. Spike is the one who is in last place according to that graph. Funny thing is that I've seen that graph several times before in other forums and It always amaze me how Spike is barely mentioned in the comments. Oh well...

    Increased: - Pinkie Pie: I didn't like her that much when the show started, she was annoying and I didn't like her mane that much. But after several episodes (Party of One being one of my personal favorites) I started liking her more, she is so funny and now I reaally like her mane! - Rarity: She was meh to me at first. But now I find her character to be one of the most complex of all the characters, and she really has great moments. - The CMC: They were annoying little brats to me at first. But they grew on me, and now I really like the CMC episodes, they are all funny and cute. - Spike: Honestly, I didn't gave a damn about him at first, he was so uninteresting and boring, plus, he is not a pony... so I didn't care about his character at time, but after season one finale (and most of season 2) my view of Spike changed massively. Now Spike has becomed the most interesting character in the series, with awesome potential for cool stories. Decreased: - None.

    Because Transformes is a franchise about big robots with big guns that engage in epic battles and make lots of things explode, so it makes sense that some people have to die there. But no, I would not want that kind of dark stuff in this show, that's fanfiction territory. However I wouldn't mind if the show got a little more serious every now and then, dealing with more complex, less black and white, issues.

    Spike had a big role in saving the Crystal Empire, there is NO reason for not inviting him. (Except plot convenience). So yeah... the writers Cadance pulled a dick move here.

    Among the main cast, I don't hate any of the characters, they are all awesome.But there are some characters that I don't care about that much like Shining Armor, Cadance, Trixie, and all the background ponies.

    Yeah, the thing about Spike saving the empire, is that didn't shine that much. Yes he returned the artifact, but he just did it because Twilight told him to, not because it was Spike's ultimate resolve as a character, he was scared the whole time he carried the thing and he even tripped and fell... if it weren't for Cadance he would have fell to his death. Even though he got a stained glass, Spike's "hero moment" was absolutely downplayed in favor of giving Twilight more airtime, hell even Spike himself was more worried about her than anything else. Despite this, I appreciate that the episode gave him a bigger role than he usually does in these two part episodes. I like the idea of Spike growing up, it would definitely improve his character as he would face the consequences of growing, not as a person but also as a dragon, and besides... people wont make much of a fuss about this particular character having a major change (unlike Alicorn Twilight). They kinda avoided the cliche with Spike, but they played it straight with the other dragons, since they are portrayed as nothing but evil.
