movies/tv What's your favorite movie? How about least favorite?

My favorite is definitely "God Bless America" (which sounds like patriotic flag-waving nonsense but is actually an anti-modern-culture black comedy/satire-- it's not for the lighthearted, either).

My least favorite... I don't even know. I can't think of any movies I've seen that stick out as being really, really bad. Most modern movies are just disappointing, anyway. I don't care for Marvel movies, I guess. (I wouldn't call them a "least favorite" though, just awfully low on the "good" scale.)

Since I'm unable to choose just one, my favorite movies are all four Transformers movies by Michael Bay. Mostly because I'm a huge fan of Transformers and I really like action movies in general. The story may be mediocre, but the action sequences are pure awesome!

My least favorite movie is Sharknado. The plot is mind-boggingly stupid, the special effects are horrible, the acting is bad, the characters are bad, there's not even any good action sequences!

I need a good movie to watch. It should probably either be:

  • A really good science fiction movie. Something like Firefly.  In fact, something exactly like Firefly. Recommend me Firefly the movie.
  • A fantasy movie. You know, like swords and sorcery. I'm of the opinion that Hollywood doesn't know how how to make good fantasy movies. Please, for the love of Celestia, prove me wrong.

Of course, It doesn't have to be one of those two things. If it's something you really enjoy, I'd love to hear about it. I'll even give it a try. But be warned, if you recommend me a bad movie, I'll tie you to a chair and force you to watch this for 10 hours straight:

Okay, this is my best shot. The only other show I know that can match Firefly in terms of quality and theme is another TV show called Farscape. It's a space opera about an astronaut sucked through a wormhole to a distant part of space where every alien wants him, and his only friends are a band of rogue prisoners wandering uncharted space. It was a shockingly dark and atmospheric show with an intelligent story arc that went for four seasons. And the aliens are also memorable; being provided by the Jim Henson Creature Shop (enough said).

Not a movie, but I'll give it a look over anyway. :)

I actually enjoyed Edge of Tomorrow for it being a bigger movie with Tom Cruise. The plot was very interesting. It's about a soldier, who's simply for looks and speeches on tv, stuck in a time loop fighting an alien war on the same day over and over again. Watching him learn and try to get through the day each time is really interesting, and it pulled me in.

Firefly was great, btw.

I just recently saw this move to. I really liked the movie, even if the plot was a bit nonsensical at times.

If you're up for horror films I would totally recommend The Slit Mouthed Woman (Carved), it was so intense.

Eh, why the heck not. Sure, I'll give it a try.

Looper was a pretty good sci fi flick with some strong psychological horror moments. It was made in 2012, but it has an irresistible 80's-90's feel to it.

Apocalypto, watch it. watch it right now, get on netflix and watch it. It's about the decline Maya civilization.

The Black Death. With sean bean. Now that movie, not action packed but it was good. It's about a young priest and a group of knights going to investigate a village that has rumors of bringing people back to life.

Limitless. Not near your criteria, but the idea and story is just awesome. a dude takes a pill that changes his life, he becomes a genius, but some other people want it too...

This was easily one of the best horror movies I've seen in a long while. Very engaging and suspenseful. (Although you could have warned me it was in Japanese >_> )  I only wonder, exactly how did those children know where the killer's hideout was?

Jaws Terminator saga Alien trilogy Star Wars original trilogy Jurassic Park trilogy X-Men Origins: Wolverine Halloween (1978) Harry Potter series Pirates of the Caribbean series

I've already seen all of these. A valiant effort nonetheless! :)

And now onto you. I think I'll go down your list one by one, until I've seen them all.

Oh no. I hate movies with time travel shenanigans.  I only saw edge of tomorrow because a friend begged me to watch it with him.

The Sergio Leone spaghetti westerns (my favorite's either For A Few Dollars More or The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly. Both on Netflix)

The Hunt - Awesome 2012 Danish film that's an absolute must watch imo (it's on Netflix right now)

Like Sound Variations said, Blade Runner is a great film that you should definitely watch if you haven't seen it. I recommend the director's cut.

Gattaca - Sci-fi dystopian movie dealing with eugenics. Not my favorite movie, but a solid film nonetheless and many people consider it to be a sci-fi classic. I think it's a little overrated on the internet, but I found it was a very enjoyable watch and had a great performance from Jude Law in a supporting role imo
