Everyone will probably say Joker like a billion times xD

So my favorite villains that aren't the joker are mainly Scarecrow, Ra's al Ghul and Clay face.

But I guess the one who tops the list just below joker is Red Hood.

This was by far the hardest decision I've forced myself to make. I always like smart villains. So it was REALLY close between Riddler and Joker. But I picked Joker because he is anti-batman. Flip side of the same coin, you know the jazz.

The general concensis is the Joker, but for me its a tie between the Joker and Bane. the next runner up would be Ras al Ghul. I really cant vote cause Bane and Joker are equals in my heart.

The Joker, full stop. If the comics hadn't already set me firmly in his camp (Note: I don't like comics, but the few I've read are Joker stories), the Arkham games would have done it.

Two Face is a second, though Al Ghul may be tying with him. Black Mask in third because he's just pretty cool.

I don't like Clayface because his origin story is simply the dumbest thing ever, and I can't say Freeze simply because my memory of him is tainted by Joel Schumacher's garbage.

Excuse me... But the Penguin should be the only choice. XD He is the best villain ever, man! He was played by Danny DeVito, he is a short fat guy with no fingers, ect. The only other villains I like are:"The Joker (Jack Nicholson), The Riddler (Jim Carrey), and Two-Face (Tommy Lee Jones)."

He was played by Devito in a wreck of a film that reimagined him as some ridiculous sewer mutant. Context, my friend, is key. :P

And are you really just going by the movies? Seems it given the inclusion of the actor names. Riddler and Two Face suck in that case. (Two Face was made great again in Dark Knight, but still...)

I just love Joker's gleeful madness. He's not even evil, strictly-speaking. He's just out for fun and well, evil is fun as any gamer will tell you. He can do such horrible things and I can't help but grin, laugh and clap alongside him. His demented glee is just all kinds of infectious, and on top of that he can pull crazy gambits including Xanatos, Batman, Roulette, and he can even navigate a Pileup or play speed chess with relatively successful results.

Plus the whole yin-yang-ish thing he's got going with Bats...Frankly, I can see his point. Batman is The Joker in every way except disposition...And now, just because I can, this.

You really got to see Batman the Animated Series it has the best version of Mr Freeze and the best version of The Joker and Two Face as well.

Seen it. They made Joker look like Mickey Mouse halfway through the series. That's the worst part of the movie's Freeze though. They used the great backstory TAS gave him, but also used the camp and puns 60s Adam West Batman would've given him.

The Joker, especially from Batman the Animated Series, Mark Hamill did a stellar job voice acting the Joker, giving a macabre sense of insanity, humour and deadly cunning, and to hear him laugh was stunning, one of my favourite episodes is "The Joker's Favour", the music captures the zany yet terrifying moments when the Joker was on screen, and lastly how the Joker could manipulate an ordinary citizen into doing his bidding, so that's why I adore Batman TAS and how they handled the Joker.

  • 8 months later...

I can't say The Joker, since that'd be charmingly stereotypical of me.

Ach, there's so many great, iconic ones...

I'll go with Bane.

With a titan strength that only multiples through the use of Venom, and a will and cunning and ingenious mind only rivaled by Batman (I mean, he beat Ra's in chess! Holy sh*t!), he continually proves to be one of Bat's most deadly adversaries, and earns his spot on the Rouges Gallery as one of his more deadlier foes.

That was one of my favorite episodes, the Joker played that poor guy for a sap all because he heckled who he later found out was the Joker for cutting him off while he was driving. That episode really goes into the Jokers twisted sense of humor in a rather warped revenge plot against a guy who said the whole thing at the wrong time to the wrong person.

Wow, I'm really the only vote for Professor Strange...

He became my favourite through The Batman series with him being the villain, or at least a significant focus, of what were easily the best episodes of the show; namely Strange Minds, Gotham's Ultimate Criminal Mastermind, and especially Strange New World.

His role in Arkham City was really cool too,

though somewhat disappointed when it turned out he was working for Ra's Al Ghul.  I mean, it fit the story fine, but it kind of ruined the imposing position he had earlier in the game.

Black Mask and Joker are up there too.

Unfortunately he is not as well known and explored as most of the Batman villains, there are a lot of very good lesser known Batman villains and Professor Strange is one of them. Aside from the examples you have given and my first exposure to him which was this episode of Batman the Animated series where he used a machine to read Bruce Wayne's mind and found out that he was Batman and tried to auction off the evidence to the highest bidder. With a bit more exposure in the comics and in a future Batman cartoon he might be elevated above obscurity though, he is one of the oldest Batman predating even the Joker so there is plenty to work with.

Nolan movie Bane is such a brilliant villain. A total beast, but so intelligent too. Everything about the way he is presented (apart from the end :okiedokielokie: ) is perfect (loved the way Nolan shot him in that plane scene where he comes down like an ape from the trees!). One of the few decent movie villains in recent years, imo. Oh, and the fact that he sounds like an evil German Sean Connery only makes it better.

Both Mark Hammil's and Ledger's Jokers were great, but I suggest folks check out John Di Maggio's version from the animated film of Under the Red Hood. It's a brilliant blend of every Joker you've seen from the comics to tv and film and can be quite scary.
