WARNING: Don't read any further if you haven't seen the movie

 

I tell you, this was one of the most emotional tracks of the movie. The way the tension was building, how the key changes were placed so perfectly, as Bullock was returning home from the deadly space mission. I just love the buildup to that grand moment of the scene. Just envision you in her position when you listen to this track. You will feel your heart racing like her. I know I sound like a hypnotist, but it's just too...epic. Just listen with no voices in the background. Close your eyes and feel your heart pounding as you enter the earth's atmosphere with a halo of fire and debris scattered everywhere. That moment, when you return to daylight as you fall from the sky and into the blue ocean waters. This track right here, is not just a part. To me...it's an experience. Try it for yourself. Just lay in bed with your headphones plugged in. Close your eyes and just...listen.

"Gravity"

WARNING: Don't read any further if you haven't seen the movie

 

This one right here, is the true meaning of epic. Bullock has returned from space, held down by...Gravity. After nearly drowning, she weakly swims to shore, dragging her weak body with her. She crawls up on the sand, relieved to be back on her planet. She embraces the sand like it's her love. The music builds. She tries to get up, but falls back down. The music continues to build. With all her strength she pushes up...up...up and finally...she's on her feet as the camera ascends for a body shot. The music has built up similar to a triumphant anthem. Bullock stands like a triumphant hero looking up to the skies where she once was. She has overcome her trials. She...is victorious. This piece made me feel as if I had done something great or overcome a very large task. Again, a very epic track that makes for a great visualization track as well.

There's actually some backstory I had with this song. I looked up songs in the Heavy Rain OST and found a song called "Ethan Mars Theme"; this was that song. I always called it that, for months on end.

Until one fateful night, I came out of the shower to a Doctor Who special, and I heard the song play faintly in the background for a minute or two.

And then the next day at school, after gym class I walked by my home-room and heard the song come from the room. I also have science class in the home-room, I had science in one of my periods that day but the song wasn't played nor did the class have anything to do with Mars.
