Christian bronies: meet, greet, and mingle!

Zach TheDane

Recommended Posts

I'd like to post and say that I am a Christian as well here =3 I'm non-denominational because I haven't found a denomination that truly seems to represent how I feel. It's been really tough lately to follow, but I still consider myself one of His.

By the way, this is my first post and my first day being on here. Glad to make your acquaintances ^ ^

Hey hey hey! Y'all don't forget about me!

I've been going to the baptist church for pretty much my whole life.

Although, admittedly, I haven't been going as much as I should. It's tougher to remember to go when you move off to college and you don't have your parents taking you...

Edited by Space Woona

I refuse to let go until you're impressed.
I refuse to let go until I'm depressed.

I haven't explain the type of church i belong too, for now until God says otherwise.. i'm with an Apostolic church..i never actually asked what the name specifically meant though i have been with them for a year.. they love God with all they're heart and that helps my faith grow stronger..

I am in a sense...like, I believe in God and the bible...but I'm not one to really go out of my way to tell someone about it...in other words, I'm not societies twisted "Christian." I don't believe in forcing my beliefs on others, and I'm not closed minded to other peoples opinions...I think the truth is no one really knows anything...we just have our faith...if we knew 100 percent, there'd be no need for faith. If I sit on a chair, how do I know it will support me and not turn into a rubber duck?...I don't know that...but I have faith that it won't happen, and that when I sit on the chair, it'll hold me. We just don't know...but through my experiences, I believe what I believe for a reason...(I've seen some amazing things in my life...) and that's good enough for me wink.png

Glad to see a following like this has a good Christian audience though! smile.png

I need to ask a favor. My town was just hit by a tornado today. Many have lost their homes, businesses and power. If you guys could keep us in your prayers, we would greatly appreciate it.

Ouch, the damage looks pretty bad according to that article. I'm glad no one was seriously injured.

Will be praying.

You too?

I feel for you, man. I lost a niece and nephew today due to that same storm.

You are in my thoughts and prayers, my friend.

Despite the crises of faith I've been having, it's still there and I'm not giving up.

Proud Christian, Proud Brony. I tend to stay out of biblical discussions and such, but I do study and pray every day.

Judging by the size of this thread (28 pages, wow) there are a lot of christians on this forum. That's good to know. happy.png

Edit: Guess I should put what branch of Christianity I'm in. I'm a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. More commonly known as Mormons.

Jefferson Bible is best bible. I reject the old testament completely as it's irrelevant in modern times and is used for nothing other than inciting hate towards people who base their hate on something in this outdated book.

The Jefferson Bible removes all the magic and miracles of Jesus and puts out just his teachings. I believe this Bible should be used more often as it really is what I believe to be the most accurate depiction of Jesus. (I don't believe he was the son of God, just a role model on how christians should act.)

Having Jesus Christ as a role model but not the Son of God does not work, sometimes I wonder why people even try that route. Jesus Christ himself said he was the son of God and the great "I AM" of the Old Testament, the Jehovah. If one takes out all the miracles and disbelieves he was actually the Son of God... that would make Jesus Christ either a madman or charlatan.

You either need to accept the miracles, accept that Jesus Christ was the actual Savior and Son of God... or toss out Bible and Jesus Christ teachings.

There's no ifs, ands, or buts about it as a delusional or lying man cannot be a good role model.

I'll just carry on believing what I want to regardless of what anyone thinks. The Jefferson Bible is the one that appeals most to me.

It removes the made up bullshit that does nothing but brainwash already delusional people into religion itself and leaves in it the moral teachings of a man, regardless of whether or not HE was delusional, who spread a message of love and acceptance.

The whole Jesus as a saviour shit as well, yeah, fuck that. Sin does not exist because Jesus already accepted our sins and died... Therefore, how can sin exist? Anyhow, yolo, mainstream Christianity sucks ass.

And here I am thinking that all bronies followed the "love and tolerance" idea. I guess that doesn't apply to some people.

I know you're not gonna be checking this again, but I'll just leave this here:

How can sin not exist when people are shot, assaulted, murdered, and raped every day? And that's just scratching the surface.

Also, how could Jesus possibly die for all the sin in the world if He was not the Son of God?

That's all I'm going to say on the matter.

Me and my family aren't huge Christians, but I guess we are. I have been questioning my religion though, because there are so many questions unanswered. Such as:

Why does God kill his own children?

I am really torn on it.

I'm officialy a christian, but I consider myself as a atheist...

I never get the point with religion, and, when looking back in history, christians were pretty bad guys (Thinking of all the people killed in the Inquisition, cruisades, not forgeting all the scientists killed for their ideas)

I like the idea, but I think buddism or greek / roman mytologies are more intersting ways to see the world.

EDIT : Don't see the bible as a law or historical facts, it's more like a poems book...

Well I was raised as a catholic and i went to church when I was like 5, but I don't go anymore, though I still consider myself a believer, but I'm not a hardcore Christian.

Heheh, yep, I'm a Christian through and through...though, I am extremely accepting of other ideals and their perspectives. I've actually studied a lot of history and even some of the scrolls that were removed from the King James bible upon its creation. A lot of people that I went to church with shunned me for my 'adventuring' but I believe I was meant to discover such things. I believe many controversial things to the stubborn mind like the idea that evolution could have possibly happened and the big bang theory be true...but God induced. Maybe such was the way God did it :) Who knows? I also believe in the Wicca and Native American Animism ideals of everything being additionally made up of energies (or what the Native Americans called "spirits"). It surprisingly explains a lot and even supports biblical scripture and beliefs. Additionally, things such as Buddhism and Taoism (basically oriental originating religions of inner peace) add to these beliefs. I don't believe in their deities of course but their concepts and ideas for achieving a balance or harmony of energies is a very believable and biblical supportive concept. Don't shun out other religions. You may learn something from them while still knowing that Jesus is Christ and by his blood we are cleansed of our sins :)

Hope I didn't offend anyone. If I did, it was unintentional :) God bless :)

EDIT : Don't see the bible as a law or historical facts, it's more like a poems book...

Sorry to break it to you but the Bible is the most accurate historical document out there. It's not something you can just Google to verify- you have to do your academic research like you would with any knowledge. Also, different books of the Bible have different genres- the Psalms are poetry while the Gospels are eye-witness accounts, verified externally by non-Biblical sources and kept solid by historians. You can't interpret different genres of documented literature the same way.

Why does God kill his own children?

I am really torn on it.

God does not kill his own children- God's children kill God's children.

----------------------------

I am a Christian as well. Although I struggle immensely emotionally (loneliness, sadness and depression), I do not deny my Savior's sovereign love for me. I may not feel God...at all...but I believe He is there and that He is sovereign and has done everything He has done for a purpose.

For instance, my depression and loneliness have given me an immense longing and desire to reach out to the lonely and depressed- to be the friend I always wanted to have. My ability to empathize with and attempt to support others on a deep, visceral level has been greatly enhanced because of my struggles.

Yes, I do struggle immensely with my faith because of the many times I've been brought to emotional-motivational abysses and I struggle with being a Christian...but I do not deny my faith.

I am also intellectually convicted of the truth of the Bible. It is the most accurate historical document in existence with more copies present than any other historical document. It is also free of contradictions- ask the academic critics who have scrubbed the Biblical text from cover to cover in search of errors but came up short. Several great intellectual cases for the Bible can be found in the works of Josh McDowell, C.S. Lewis, G.K. Chesterton, and Timothy Keller, to name a few.

I recognize the worth of other worldviews. Everyone has a reason to believe what they believe, simply because they have lived a life: one with highs and lows, influences and lessons.

I could continue...but honestly, this is a forum for Bronies and My Little Pony. It is not a scientific, ethical, or general debate forum...and I believe that you should respect someone else's beliefs, even if they're different than yours. After all, what did Twilight Sparkle learn about Pinkie Sense?

I stand for my faith and others' like assertive Fluttershy- with a human (imperfect yet idealized) balance of love and justice- of tender mercy and bold assertiveness.

God does not kill his own children- God's children kill God's children.

I think he was referring to the instances where God killed people directly and on purpose.  You're probably familiar with these:

- Flooding the Earth, killing all but 8 of the entire world's population, as punishment for a variety of things

- Sending "fire & brimstone" to kill the entire populations of Sodom and Gomorrah, as punishment for their lifestyles

- Turning Lot's wife into a "pillar of salt", as punishment for curiosity and/or being annoyed that she had to leave her home forever, on short notice

- Killing the (unknown thousands) of first-born throughout Egypt, as punishment for their leader's stubbornness

- Sending two bears to kill 40 children, as punishment for making fun of a prophet's bald head

- Killing Onan because he got cold feet after God instructed him to knock up his brother's wife

My uncle is a Christian and he hates bronies because he thinks we're all gay. *cough*ignorant*cough*

That's disappointing.  There are plenty of better (or at least more reasonable) reasons for people to dislike us.
