I agree with this, I think one of the reasons that AJ tends to lack popularity is that she gets very few episodes and some of the episodes we see make her seem rather generic. I'm not saying that we need her to become a wildly exciting character like Pinkie, but if the show placed more emphasis on her steadfast attitude and other good qualities rather than her being just another member of the Apple family that would make her more interesting, I think.

Although Applejack is my least favorite mane 6 (no wait, don't kill me!!!!), I really liked her in Bats!

I've always wondered why but reading your conversation makes me think it's maybe because I don't like when she's with her family.

I'd love to watch more episodes only about her and not about her being a member of the Apple family...

This. While I get that AJ is meant to be a family mare (a good quality), it's not her only trait and she can (and should) function independently of them.

Bats! could feasibly be an AJ episode, but since it centers around Fluttershy going native as it were I generally regard it as an FS episode.

Pinkie Apple Pie, again could feasibly be an AJ episode but it was mostly focused on the family as a whole and Pinkie.

Simple Ways, hm... Probably a Rarity episode as you said, though AJ was good in that one.

Somepony to Watch over Me is a CMC/Applebloom episode to me.

I love Pinkie Apple Pie its my favorite episode of the seris

I also absolutely love the episode for several reasons. But strangely enough it's an episode may people love or really dislike.

StWOM: Almost, it was about her and Applebloom. Plus she was with her family during the first act:

Sort of like how I consider Sisterhooves Social both a Sweetie Belle episode and a Rarity one, I consider Somepony to Watch Over Me to be an Apple Bloom episode and an Applejack one. She had a pivotal role as the antagonist and shouldered a lot of the moral.

 

In Pinkie Apple Pie, AJ was the character busy trying to make the others act like the "perfect family", so if I had to pick a lead, it'd be her. Might be my bias as a fan, though.

I think we all may assume Applejack's parents passed away, we had several indicications.

On one hand I would love to have an episode were we learn more about the death of AJ's parents or a bit of their history, they could make a very powerful episode about that!

On the other hand, it the writers actually will doe this, it will make the magic and mystery dissapear.

 

So i'm really in two minds what I prefer...

Right! These were all great AJ episodes even if she shared the spotlight with other Mane Sixers; as for Leap of Faith; I like this episode... I will admit I was disappointed with it the first time it aired, but on subsequent watches I've found it to be much more enjoyable; the interactions between Granny Smith and Applebloom are just priceless!
