I can totally see her using ranged weapons though. Firstly because she has a keen eyesight and precision, and secondly because it makes it harder for those ruffians to ruin her mane.

 

She is also way too precious to endanger herself in the melee, and also way too important for the morale of her troops to risk injury. 

 

On the other hand, i would think she would enjoy the delicate dance of fencing with a rapier, or a polearm. She would look like an gorgeous angel of vengeance, waltzing through the enemy ranks while expertly dodging every attack against her, all the while striking back with elegant blows. Her every move empowering the own soldiers, and fascinating the opponents into blissful stupor.

I think Rarity is beautiful and bright. She does everything she can to make her friends happy and some ponies just can't see that. Like photo finish, she didn't like Rarity's modeling and loved Fluttershy's instead, even though Shy didn't want to do it. RIDICULOUS!!!

Well, not only some ponies can't see it. Many bronies seem to have problems with that too.
