She needs a pony that respects and supports her. A pony that is polite, noble and strong as she is. That will be by her side even in her more dramatic moments. A pony that respects her, and her career. Respects that she is a strong, independed pony. And that she is not a trophy wife without willpower that just looks good.

 

Rarity has a very strong character and is smart. And she needs someone who can challenge her. Keep up with her.

 

Thats something that Blueblood and Trenderhoof never could do... She does not deserve someone like them... she deserves a true prince... Not of noblility, but of noble heart.

Blueblood was just a mardy jerk.

Trenderhoof like a whipper-snapper. Very similar with a poet, who appears in a crazy Moomin comics and starts a love affair with Snorkmaiden

 Both looks too infantile for being a husband for Rarity.

 

Simple ways is a cute and interresting episode, but Raritys experiences was so sad there.

 

Another good episode i wached today. Whom Sweetiebelle toils. It was very good lesson, how Rarity acting, how she thinking inside and how looks it arrogant and egoistic for others.

That looks like heaven to me. A nice, quiet diner with no one else inside. Except for Rarity, perhaps. Imagine sitting alone there, nursing a lukewarm cup of coffee, hoping the caffeine will at least give you the energy to leave and do something else with the rest of your day...

 

And then she walks in. As this gorgeous creature brushes snowflakes out of her hair and levitates a designer scarf from her slender shoulders--you wonder, could it be? Not just a mere pony, walking out of the blue into a human restaurant, but the pony whom you have seen only on television and in dreams? Or is this also a dream?

 

Her delicate, cultured voice cuts neatly into your ruminations. "Hello, darling. Is this seat taken?"

 

You're too shocked and enchanted to speak, but you manage to shake your head no. Rarity inspects the booth carefully before sitting down...

Scrunching her little nose in disapproval, she pulls a little red velvet cushion out of nowhere, places it on her seat, and rests her delicate derrière on it. Noticeing your awestruck expression, she smiles at you to break your blissful paralysis.

It is the kind of smile that lets one think that the sun just rised a second time. The kind of smile that melts snow and hearts with its warmth and loveliness. She reaches out with her slender hoof and toches your hand tenderly, as if she wanted to prove that she really is sitting next to you, and this is not a beautiful dream.

 

 

 

 

 

"Is everything alright, darling?" She asks in her sweet and melodic voice. A voice that touches your heart with its beauty, and makes you wonder if it is not an angel that sits next to you right now. She still has that enchanting smile on her full lips, but her forehead is crinkly with worry now.

 

Her hoof feels smooth and delicate, and its tender touch breaks the spell of confusion you suffered under. Your mind is clear now, and you look directly into her heart-shaped, perfect face. Into the almond, sapphire pools that are her eyes.

 

Your lips feel numb, but you open them regardless to speak to lovely Rarity, for you cannot suffer to see her worried about you. You try to put all your love and passion into your next words to comfort the sweet creature that sits next to you.

Someone needs to rescue the lovely creature! Carefully and tenderly unwrap her delicate body, and comfort her with kisses and cuddles at the same time! After the deed is done, she shall give the brave hero a big and thankful smooch! And maybe even a date?!

 

Our queen needs resue! Who will volunteer for this important and urgent quest?

Rarity just shows that to be a noble queen, one does not have to be of blue blood. She is more lovely, generous and sweet than the most benevolent monarch. She shows that there excuse not to act noble, no matter your standing in society!

We often talk at length about the characterization of Rarity, and how dynamic she is. This is by far the main reason she not only grew on me as I started to marathon the show last year, but also why she was spring boarded to Best Pony status. As a person that finds himself drawn to subtly complex characters in all forms of storytelling, Rarity fits along side great company. That said, characterization can be subjective, so I decided to test this a little. I reviewed some of the musings of the best literary minds on what makes a great character, and decided to see if it can be applied to Rares. I will be sharing these through the day and likely into the next week.

Motivation is one of the absolute rules in any well defined character. Without it, how can you begin to root for or against them? It is also the easiest test for Rarity to pass. She has multiple motivations featured in the series thus far, and I call her one of the dreamers in the series. She desperately wants to be recognized, to be appreciated, to be loved. That is one of the most personally identifiable traits about her. It is one that on some level all people share. It is no wonder that Rarity has one of the best "I want" songs in the series. She is a hopeless romantic as well, always looking for her prince, for someone close to share in her joy. Obviously, she is also motivated by her need to share that what she has with others. Generosity. It was identified even early on that her dreams and motivations were born when she was young, before she found her Cutie Mark. New motivations have also been born in the series. Friendship and family have increasingly become central to who she is and how we view her, but more on that in a bit.
