While I don't care for humanizations, this particular picture does her pony form justice and preserves many of her most beautiful features (Mane, chubbiness, huge innocent eyes, et cetera) and it is rather adorable.

Ye, I was questioning the sauce on this one.

Now, moving on completely from that moment, MORE DERPY!

First, how can anyone not love that face? She's adorable, goofy, sweet, innocent, lovely, honest, courageous (yes she is) and all things good and wonderful!

I've heard it said that derpy was originally an "accident" on the part of the creators of the show. I'm not sure how that worked out but I'm happy it did.

It was Derpy who originally attracted me to the fandom and the show because she reminds me so very much of my own daughter who is, herself, disabled but a wonderfully sweet, clever, smart, innocent, loving, lovely person who is my joy and my heart.

I've also seen things on the Internet where it seems a large group of soccer-mom/yuppie types got all bent out of shape because of Derpy, demanding her removal from the show because they felt that Derpy was offensive to disabled people.

I vehemently and whole-heartedly disagree with that!

If anything, Derpy stands as a magnificent symbol of inclusion, success and courage in the face of daunting odds.

Inclusion because everyone in Ponyville who knows her still loves and accepts her even though she's annoying at times and, sometimes distructive without meaning to be.

Success because she's the mail carrier! That's not easy task and it's a great responsibility and I don't think anyone would have given her that job if they didn't think she could handle it

Courage because, as I've understood it, something happened to her that 1: caused her some brain damage, 2: caused her eyes to become crossed like they are and, 3: caused her to not have full use of her fore-hooves thus making them "derpy".

Anyone who daily faces the challenges and difficulties of being disabled fully understands and appreciates this and here we have Derpy, always cheeful, always willing to help, always willing to do her best but, most of all, always maintaining a positive attitude.

Everyone who's disabled, and even those who're not, understand that it takes real courage to stay positive in a sometimes overwhelmingly difficult and negative world.

There are so many more reasons I could give why Derpy's my favorite Pony but I think this should be enough. post-31850-0-17769000-1422555289_thumb.png

I like the way she is on the show now.  Where she isn't presented as stupid or clumsy.  I hope they give her a new official name because I never liked the name Derpy or Ditzy.  Here's hoping to a future with this adorable muffin-loving mare that is free from the drama of the past.

Well, in response to what you have to say.

People are sometimes born with her eye condition and it can make us a bit clumsy on judging distances sometimes.

I was born with strabismus. Unlike Derpy, my eyes were crossed rather than pointing in different directions.

When I was two I had surgery to uncross them. I had another surgery later on to help the laziness in one eye.

They still aren't perfect and sometimes my right eye goes off on its own if I don't wrangle it. This can lead to difficulties judging distances without reference points. I'm fine in a car, but catching a ball can be a hassle sometimes.

I don't see it as offensive, just inclusive. Mail carrying like Derpy wouldn't be a problem unless I had to catch the packages for some reason.

Luckily, I never had a problem with being picked on for it, though sometimes people wonder if I'm talking to them or someone else. Doesn't hurt that I was always one of the bigger kids (not that I ever used that to bully others).

Noooooooooooooo! I love her the way she is! It's all the stuff she is that makes her so unique! I hope they don't change a thing about her.

Not being able to catch a ball is one thing.  I think they overdid it when they had her destroying the town hall.  I don't want to really start an arguement so while we may disagree about how she should be presented I hope we can find common ground in that we do want to see her.

@Squirrel

My wife has a condition called lazy eye, where the muscles in one eye are weaker than in the other so one of her eyes has a tendancy to drift a bit at times. She never says anything about it and, since she's had it all her life, she seems to have adapted to it quite well.

The worst part of all that for her was that she was picked on a bit for it when she was a girl and she was left with some emotional scars because of that.

The good thing is that she is, and always has been, a very strong woman who's been able to deal with everything that life's thrown at her. She's always come out on top.

Pic related: That's my wife. (To me, the most beautiful woman in the world!) :D

Oh, and just for a little perspective, here's all three of us, me, my wife and daughter together.

[EDIT] My apologies for seeming to derail the thread. It wasn't my intention to do that and I'm sorry. I just love my family and love and enjoy sharing about them with others. I hope you'll forgive me and accept my apology.

Pegasi fly fast and high and accidents happen easly. I think that once Derpy had not luck like Dashie in "Read it and weep" and we must be luck that she alive. Problaly there originate those crossed eyes and disabilities... :(
