I don't get all the hate this episode is getting.  Personually I love this episode and I think they should end the series there and make a movie.. A movie..  Anyone?

A movie, yes.  End the series?  That was a very mule thing to suggest.

Wrong.  The best use of songs, and this is what Walt Disney himself believed (since you mentioned Disney) is that you use songs to move the plot along rather than stall the plot for a song. (Which is why the Soap Song (or whatever it was called) was cut out from Snow White.  He felt it stopped the story.

I think the songs did a good job in MMC.  It moved the plot or updated the character.  Both legitimate reasons for a song.

Pearls of Wisdom - Better to be so Heavenly-minded that you're no earthly good than to be so earthly-minded that you're no Heavenly good.

So...right. Because the rest of my explanation says that. You do use songs to dazzle people also since defacto most songs are burst of powerful emotion vocally and visually. You don't ever have a song where the characters are half heatedly wandering off with no accompanying interesting animation. Even when the animation is lacking, its normally done so to accommodate the songs power in pace and strength. Like Hell fire.

I think this video here has some weight in its description of Magical Mystery Cure. I'm on board with what this guy has to say, and in the end, it would have been nice to see this episode broken down and extended into a two-parter.

What the Hell was that?????

I...huh...can't think of a coherent thought

But I will have to as the board won't let me post... I didn't mind the singing but there was a LOT of it... The plot idea could have been a good one but it didn't work... The ending, I mean, wtf was that?

Despite all the negative comments and reviews I've been reading, my mind hasn't changed. No one is forwarding a compelling argument against this episode. Which is not to say all of you are being unreasonable (though some are) but just that I don't find the same things bothering that you do.

This is one of only four episodes of mlp to which I assign a score of 10/10 and I rank it as the third best episode of the series overall, just behind The Best Night Ever and A Canterlot Wedding and just ahead of Winter Wrap Up.

And also thear's this problem

It that now Twilight is an alicorn and that will always be in our memory.

But if thear's going to be an episode in which Twiligh will become an unicorn, it's just not going to be the same pony that she was before

First they make a masterpiece

And then they ruin it

I apologize but I am going to call you out on this.

My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic is a wonderful show, one of the best when it comes to a children animation series and with some of the best characterizations... but it is not nor was it ever a masterpiece. I love this show and love many of it's characters, but I have always remembered that first and foremost that this is a tv series for children, more importantly the target audience is supposed to be for little girls. Yes Lauren Faust made sure it could be enjoyed by those of any age or gender but Hasbro wanted this show made so as to sell toys.

The writers time and again have made mistakes, have not considered everything, or outright made the wrong choice (though I place at least some of the blame on Hasbro itself and not the writers) but all in all they have made a wonderful series. The Magical Mystery Cure has it's flaws, one of the biggest being pacing and the fact this should have been a two-parter. Yet based on what I have seen M.A. Larson did a wonderful job of making a difficult and troublesome idea work in the allotted time he was given.

Some people seem to dislike the fact that it was to much songs in the episode and it was like a musical. I however, loves musicals and I loved the songs! The only thing that bothers me is that I got spoiled that Twilight would become a princess.

My favorite song in the episode: Celestias Ballad (oh god, I can't describe how i felt when i heard it for the first time. <3)

Haven't been able to post my thoughts.

I'm hot and cold about the whole Twilicorn thing. It would be cool to see her journey as an alicorn and such, but I hope this doesn't further distant herself from her friends, which is what I'm sure I'm not alone in worrying about.

We'll just have to see.

So that's where all the season's songs went!

I must say - the pacing did seem a little rushed to me, and I - like many others - would've rather watched a two-parter for this episode (instead of, say, the "extra" Spike episode this season).

That said, I am fully on-board with Alicorn Twilight.  Headcanon-be-danged, I think this opens up all manner of new options for the show as it goes into season four.  I just hope that this doesn't mean that Twilight will either become the "sole" focus of most episodes, or be relegated to the sidelines...

Watching this episode, I never got the feeling that anything that happened was unexplainable or contradictory to previously established canon. Yes, this episode raised a lot of questions but, far from being frustrating, those questions serve to make the world of FiM a much more interesting place. In that, this episode manages to be rather fantastical.

Edit: Reading back through his posts I've realized Anadu Kune has been a godsend of common sense and thoughtful criticism to this thread.

I really liked this episode because Twilight truly shows how friendship can be magic, plus too it was a great end to s3

P.S. Liquid Pride.

This episode would have made a wonderful end to the Friendship is Magic, not as a season, but as the grand finale of the entire series...that would have made this show really go out with a BANG....if it was split into a 2 parter, or even a movie...

I'm very happy for Twilight! I'm happy, yet somehow sad that she's an alicorn now. I have a feeling that it will affect her friendship with the girls in the future, I mean, maybe her wings and her new royal duties will either make them jealous, or get in the way of their friendship and hang out time...that's just one of the ways I picture it

I also was kinda suprised at some people, they were raving over how angry or upset they were about Twilight.

I thought they would be really really happy that she's now a princess etc. but some people were just really like...upset.

I mean, the season DID end a bit early, but didn't they announce that it was gonna be 13 episodes anyways? So we sorta should have seen this coming ...

Meehhh, whatever, I'm happy for Twilight in the end :)

The episode was okay but judging by my opinion I hated it that Twilight Sparkle is now an alicorn. (I bet their friends must feel jealous by now)

I heard rumours that this whole Alicorn Twilight thing is not going to continue in Season 4. Why? They made her an alicorn just for Hasbro to sell toys.

Don't look at me like that folks, not my problem.

I don't think you have to look very hard to find people who want Twilight to lose her new status and upgrade, and for things to return to the way they were before this episode. I think that's a bit backwards-looking, personally, but I can understand their concerns. It's not unlikely that the source of these rumours is someone in that category of folks, so it's probably just wishful thinking on their part. Without some sort of firmer clues, I would say this rumour is false.

I agree, it's just wishful thinking. Honestly I think the chance of Twilight turning back into a unicorn again is close to none. Having all that marketing done to drump up the hype for the Coronation Concert only to have her transform back again is just going to make Hasbro look like a total fool, not to mention it'd be a slap in the face for Celestia and everything that TS has gone through to Season 1. It just doesn't make any creative sense to backtrack after such a significant change in the plot.

Signature to come soon. I think. Yeah. Once I think up a nice one. Or when someone makes one for me. Damn it. I need more time to draw and animate poni. >_<

Only good part of this episode was Celestia singing. I think I was still thinking about that after Twilight turned into an alicorn and took some time to realize that a terrible thing has happened. Basically I was drugged out from Celestia's singing. :/

I could already see an episode involving Twilight having to sacrifice her alicorn-hood for her friends but I'm sure at the end she would regain it again and transform into a Celestia sized alicorn as the next step to ascension making people rage even more.

Now that I've seen the episode a few more times I'm pretty okay with Twilight being an alicorn, I still miss my old Twilight D:. I do think, however, they could've waited for Twilight to get her wings during some kind of season finale or osmething like that. Having it in a normal, 20-25 minute episode just felt rushed and weird to me. One more thing that bothered me was all the singing. I mean yeah, I like the songs and stuff every once and a while, but not an entire musical every five seconds >.< Other than that the episode was pretty good, not my most favorite in my opinion, but still pretty good :D

I don't think Season 4 will last...I also think there won't be a season 5 in the future... do you guys think so?

Besides, it's all about selling toys then making a good story. So they decide to make it as a marketing tool then a tv show. Oh, well.

Honestly? It's like Hasbro hired the story writers for Final Fantasy XIII-2 solely to make sure the writing in this episode was a magnificent failure, artisan craftsmanship in suck.

You do have a good point there, Full Spectrum. I'm not arguing or anything, I just miss the old Twilight. Is she really going to be an alicorn forever?
