Was Twilight Sparkle becoming an alicorn a good thing?

I believe it is a great thing. Now that she is an Alicorn she can live FOREVER! Worried she will outlive her friends? She is an Alicorn now. Alicorn = unlimited magic = She can easily cast an age spell. Consider your mind blown. This little change means the seasons can keep coming for decades to come and no one would question it. They had to end the season early anyway so the voice actor for Twilight (Tara Strong) could voice Raven in the Teen Titans reboot Teen Titans Go (Keeping all of the characters voice actors the same) Which if you ask me makes the reboot even better (Along with the fact that Raven watches Teen Titan Go's version of MLP) And we can expect some pretty great adventures and songs from Daniel Ingram, Amy Keating Rogers, Cindy Morrow, Meghan McCarthy, Chris Savino, Charlotte Fullerton, M. A. Larson, and Dave Polsky in season 4 next year.

 

It has been stated many many times that Twilight is NOT immortal and will not out live her friends and Alicorn dose not mean unlimited magic the only practical change to Twilight is she now has wings.

If you pay close attention to Meghan's answer, you'll see that she actually carefully dodged the question about immortality. Since an alicorn Rarity toy has been spotted, the most likely explanation is the entire mane six becomes alicorn princesses.

I think this is a good idea and I really like Twilicorn a whole lot! It feels like the show is actually expanding and going places rather than just sticking to the normal routine. I like the change.

There  was a confirmed season 4 so we'll just have to see where the show is heading. Also, you guys should see all the hate and disgust with Alicorn Twilight as well as Equestria Girls. Man, people are really knocking this stuff on the ground before even seeing it... just like Kung Fu Panda.

recently i read a pretty good fanfic about alicorn twilight missing her friends because she has no time for them anymore. until she is asked to visit one sick filly who cant walk. she uses her extraordinary power to give him her own wings. if something like that would happen in the show i would more than happy. 

 

however, the 1,2,3 seasons were awesome, im both worried and hopeful for season 4.

im afraid that producers will ruin my image of twilight, or that the'll will replace her with some new pony

My gut's telling me "no", a feeling that's migrated to every single cubic inch of my body. Something about this just seems to repel me. I'm very much inclined to say this will end up being bad. Twilight's becoming an Alicorn is a good thing because it shows that the characters are progressing and achieving their goals such as Rainbow Dash's getting into the academy and Fluttershy learning to stand up for her self. While some might say it's a bit much I think that it was appropriate timing for Twilight to " move up in the ranks " with Celestia.

Twilight is a very modest character and it would therefore be completely out of character for her to feel that way.For example in the episode were trixie first appeared she didn't want to " show off " even if she was defending her friends. She became a princess through the power of friendship and she wouldn't risk losing her friends over a new pair of wings and a crown.

I definitely think that twi' becoming alicorn is a good thing it is something that will make the show more interesting (no offence to MLP but the show was becoming too predictable first two episodes of season the pony gang beats big bad plot villain and for the rest of the season the pony learn something about friendship) and twi' becoming a alicorn puts something in to the show that will make the show more interesting.

The only thing I truly dislike is that it puts more focus on Twilight. Young girls should be able to identify themselves with any pony and not get pushed towards one due to the way the show goes.

 

But - a big but - as long as season 4 doesn't air, my argument is not valid. If they reduce Twilight's screen time so much to make her essentially a background character, than she would even need more focus. It all depends on how much they focus on her. The last seasons have been quite good to make sure that every pony is the center of attention here and there.

I liked her whole look, colour and shape and that's gone now with this new look

She was learning, adapting, trying, and now she is suddenly super powered

She was one of the girls, and now she stands above them

imho, Twilight being a alicorn princess makes sense.  Her goal was to discover the magic of friendship, and she did.  So keep in mind everypony that this summer is the mlp:eg movie, and the supposed Rated R MLP movie.... (?) sometime after mlp:eg, but before season 4.  So what if Twilight has become an alicorn.  Just imagine all the lolz we are gonna get cause she isn't used to having wings.  Also, there could be the "King Sombra/Starswirl the Bearded" theory come into play, or some other baddie that she needs the extra power of being a princess brings.  I think that they know what they are doing, considering the show is intended for children.  They want to appeal to the kids.

like where is she going to rule, and how will she

command the guards on what to do. who knows. Each generation is 10 years. Our favorite generation is g4. It started on 2010. Who knows. Is Hasbro going to continue the show until 2020? Will there be a season 5? or 6? No one knows except our god Celestia.

I think so. I mean it's always nice when a show changes things up. All too often shows just sort of meander with the principal cast not going through any real changes. Is Alicorn Twilight better or worse? That's in the eye of the beholder. Still, in terms of the character dynamic, it was nice to see a change.

It could be both a bad or good thing. Even though it has been confirmed that she won't outlive her friends and will stay in Ponyville, doesn't mean they will all stay best friends forever.
