Will Twilight's transition to alicorn princess be permanent?

Well, some story came to my mind that Twilight gives up being a princess after noticing that she has no time for her own life or something. Her wings are then gone. I don't know xD

 

But, I personally think that Twilight will permanently have her wings. I just can't see her as a princess for some reason!

I'm going to hope not. With her being an alicorn, unicorns on the show have become a bit of a rarity. SO PUNNY.

 

So, I hope that she losses her wings for some reason or another. New villain comes and removes them with his/her power some how? She decides princess life isn't for her, and gives it up? She doesn't want to have to leave her for ends for her Princess life (which she likely wouldn't), and doesn't want too? Who knows!

It's a possibility that she may at some point have to give up her wings to save her friend. However I see this as a permanent transition as there is now much to learn as a princess. I personally think that sending twilight to ponyville was a test from Celistia to see if she has what it takes to be a leader, every situation they face as a group they learn more. I think in season 4 she will have to protect all of ponyville. I also don't understand why people are so upset at alicorn twilight I think she has out grew her role as a unicorn and has earned her Princess Status. She won't be as powerful as Celestia and Luna of course because those 2 are the rulers of all of Equestria.

As much as I would enjoy leaving Princess Twilight and her new royal duties alone, I think that Twilight won't want to leave her friends behind, just like Rainbow didn't in episode 2, season 1. Everybody else has made sacrifices to stay with the group (maybe with the exception of Rarity, having most of her privileges taken from her), so why shouldn't Twilight? What if Princess Celestia gets Twilight to govern a kingdom? How is she going to be able to see her friends? Twilight is now IMMORTAL, I don't think that Immortality is given up freely because they're your friends.

 

I hate to say it, but I honestly believe that Twilight will have a change of heart and go back to being Twilight Sparkle, Princess of no-one, Ruler of No-where

 

Ms. McCarthy already stated that Twilight, even as a Pirncess, will still be living in Ponyville and WON'T be separated from her friends.

 

Granted, this does make the portrayal of Twilight's princesshood seem paltry, but I'm sure Season 4 will explain the reasons for that.

 

though if there is any reason for Twilight's alicornhood and/or princesshood to be temporary, it might be the fact that she's a princess yet very little has changed in her life, it might cause her to ask herself what need is there for her to be a princess when it practically has changed almost nothing in her life aside from how she now has wings.

What we saw was just a Thrid of what was planned. Planned is, that the first two Episodes of S4 will show what happened BEFORE and AFTER the MMM (magical mystery cure) Episode. So who knows what will happen? I really hope that this was, like, I dont know how to say that now... A kind of dream, an Illusion? I dont know. Just, there is no hint that this will be permanent.

 

Maybe I am wrong, but nothing is for sure yet.

No, I'm pretty sure it's going to be permanent. Not just from creator comments, but also from other hints. I mean, first of all, Twilight was still a princess in Equestria Girls. Now, don't get me wrong, Equestria Girls isn't canon in relation to the show as far as I can tell, although that can change depending on what they say and do in Season Four. I'm also guessing you haven't watched the Season Four animatics that were released...

 

I just have to say that if it is a dream or illusion, then Twilight really needs to lay off whatever crazy psychedelic stuff she's been partaking in.

I really think twilights destiny is a lot more then people are actually saying. I think that becoming an alicorn was part of it but it is not her full destiny. I think there is a lot to come from this, there is definitely a lot of potential.

The mere thought of the writers stripping twilight of her wings/princess ship is just ridiculous. You have to remember that this show's audience is comprised of more than just bronies and pegasisters but also children, little girls and boys that would be devastated having seen Princess Twilight "lose her wings". And since there hasbro's main focus i have to say, even if i did'nt like the idea of twilight as an alicorn, i would hold my breath hoping she'll return to her normal unicorn state. 

 

And what's so bad about her being an alicorn?!?!?! Its not like the mane 6 will be seperated or anything. Personally im glad Twilight achieved her destiny. It made all that she's done worth the effort. Because honetly, she's more than earned her title.

 

While I understand that some of you are okay or even support her princess ship, but have a problem with a she became a alicorn, through the events of the season three finale Magical Mystery Cure. I think it was very appropriate.

But i admit it was pretty foolish of her to cast, what Princess Celestia said was an unperfected master peice made by one of the most powerfull and famous wizards of all time without a second thought.

 

 

But still even if you don't like how the finale set up her crowning, you have to admit. She deserved it. after saving Equestira multiple times as well as the crystal empire and rescuing a princess from a evil queen who locked her in a forsaken cave then tried to marry her fiance, all the while using the magic of friendship as the source of her power. Plus i doubt she'll be toooooooo involved with politics. She'd be more like the peoples princess.

Seriously though, the MAIN demographic would not like it one bit if Twilight suddenly wasn't a princess any more. Face it, Little girls LOVE princesses! All the talk about Twilight losing her wings just sounds like wishful thinking to me. It's like "I don't like that, so I'm sure it'll just be a dream or something." That would be very shoddy writing if they pulled something like that!

Quite obviously, the writers had planned for the Season 3 finale to be the series finale, so they had to stick on two more episodes. If this is three parts long, then obviously something big is going to happen. I used to hate the idea that Twilight would become a princess, but hey, it's better than, say, bringing humans into the show or something. I used to think that with Twilight's new wings, there is NO WAY the show could possibly go on. But now, after a lot of discussion and speculation, what happens if Twilight loses what she just got? It would make the whole transformation seem pointless. Now the writers have opened a door to a whole new set of possibilities. I personally can't imagine what they're going to do, but I'm sure it will be fine. Maybe the real series finale will involve the loss of Twilight's wings. Really, who knows for sure?

Ha ha, good point! All this talk of Twilight losing her wings, it's possible that when the show really does end, that could be a plot point of her having to give up or lose her wings.

Well I think she will be a permanent princess, ONLY because imagine if she got demoted as princess. That wouldn't look to good on the HUB or smaller age groups.

I don't really think this will be permanent. Obviously like many have said this was intended to be a possible series finale as no one really knew how the show would go on after the 2 and a half seasons it was originally signed for ended. Obviously it got a lot more attention and popularity than it was ever thought to have made but now the questions is how will they play it out? I really hope they keep it on the down low and don't overemphasize the fact that she is now a alicorn princess. I mean i'm not a big fan of alicorn twilight but i also don't hate the writers or anyone else for it. I'm hoping they make it amazing if they go on with it like they usually do or they end it with her sacrificing herself to save her friends (which would be a good moral). Honestly I can see this show going on until season 8 or 9 if the writers play their cards right and keep the story going. What would be ideal for me would be something with discord becoming angry with celestia for keeping his magic usage down and for good and after a while and bringing back starswirl the bearded and after hearing about twilight completed his masterpiece and becoming a princess for it becomes angry and uses his magic to wreak havoc on ponyville or canterlot. Twilight must save everyone once again and in the end does a selfless action  which makes her a regular unicorn again but does something that sends starswirl the bearded back to where he came from. I'm thinking the mane 6 harness the elements of harmony but in order to do so she must give up her alicornship in order to harness her element. (because remember when celestia sent luna to the moon she could no longer harness the elements.) I don't know it probably sounds really stupid and far fetched but thats my two cents.

With the movie Equestrian Girls I have a small feeling that this will be permanent, but won't get in the way to much of the actual show plot line. I think Twilight will become a princess, but not rule of a land like Celestia, Luna, and Cadence already do. I think Celestia knows that if she made Twilight rule a land that it would get in the way of her actual friends, and I don't think Princess Celestia wants that at all.

To be honest, I don't think so. I honestly don't think it's possible, to just give up your alicorn powers like that. And the fact that they actually made a movie, where she has wings, kinda sealed the deal for me. I think she's keeping them. And to be totally honest. I hope she's keeping them. I like her as an Alicorn. Even though it's only been half an episode so far, as an Alicorn, it still fits her quite well. And I really really love it!

 

I think people are over-reacting about it, and without a reason too. She's still Twilight, now with wings. It's the same thing. She's still her, the same personality, but with wings. Her magic isn't stronger, either. So there's nothing in that matter. She became an Alicorn, because she's ready, because she had the power. And to be totally honest, I think season 4 is the last season. And, that, at the end of season 4, she'll become princess over some city. Maybe even over all of Equestria, and then Celestia will retire. Of course, this is just my thoughts on it, and nothing is canon. Probably non of it is gonna happen. Except for the part, that she'll keep her wings. The possibility is big, and I certainly hope it'll be permanent. bye!

I believe it was on Equestria Daily I saw that, but my memory is terrible. Regardless, I'm pretty sure it's definitely permanent without a doubt at this point. Now, she might temporarily lose her Alicornhood for some plot or something in the future, or maybe even at the end of the show for some reason, but I think it's meant to be a permanent transition for the most part.

I don't think it would make much sense for them to take away her wings... It's kinda like after seeing RD become a sister figure for Scootaloo, and then the writers ditching it and making her completely ignore Scoots again. It was character development, and I'd rather not see them ditch it.

I'm probably being nitpicky, or paranoid, but I swear each episode show's Twilight's horn getting longer and more pointy like Cadence's horn.  It'll create a whole new level of chaos/turd storming if they decide Twilight's current form is "proper royal/regal material" and change her appearence to reflect her new role as princess.  One thing I wasn't thrilled about was Twilight's little "Sparkle boom" at the end of Episode 2.  This Conspiracy Lyra, from the looks of it being posted 4 months ago, eerily predicted it's debute.

 

It would be nice to see Twilight turn back, but I think the show's creatores are between a rock and a hard place.  They can turn her back or leave her be, but either way, it will garner negative views.

'm not really upset over the fact she is an Alicorn, It's more of how she went about doing so. That last test seemed kind of trivial, naturally any smart pony would have done the same thing. I mean sure she ssaved kingdoms and such, why not make her an Alicorn back after season 1, I just feel the last test felt cheap and too easy.

 

any pony with an in depth knowledge of the magic of friendship. and that last bit was the last "test" in a series of tests. it was simply there to have twilight realize the depth of her knowledge. the other tests were in the show from season 1 to season 3.
