Do You Support Twilicorn?

I think even it is handled poorly there will still be some people that like the change, the season 3 finale made zero sense whatsoever and yet alot of people liked it anyway. How many will like it though depends on how it is handled as there are also a lot of people that are neutral on this who could be swayed one way or the other.

 

I think the fact that the fandom is so big will make people more inclined to continue watching even if they think season 4 sucks, just so that they're 'in the know' so to speak. I often forget that there are thousands of MLP fans who just watch random episodes and don't follow EQD and other sites, because most of the bronies that I converse with are hardcore fans with tons of knowledge. I occasionally see people on message boards and YT who had no idea about Twilicorn at all, and it takes me back down to the real world where not everyone is obsessed with ponies.

 

I think for me, I have to look at the fact that ever since I became invested in fanfiction and other fan-made content, I've enjoyed them far more than the show itself. So if I do end up hating season 4 and feel like dropping out of the viewership, I won't exactly be losing out. Most of the best loved fanfiction is season 1 + 2 canon anyway, and I still haven't read Past Sins or Fallout: Equestria. Now that I think about it more, I've really got nothing to worry about at all.

I've always thought ever since the finale there may come a time when she chooses to give up her princesshood so she could stay with her friends.  Sounds like something very plausable for the show.  The alicorn twist could've been used as a cliff hanger so everypony would hype up the next season.

I didn't really care much about her transformation, but like many other people, I completely relate to her. I can't go to sleep unless the house is clean, my rows of books are organized by author, color, and size, and I'm pretty much anti-social until mlp came along. It makes sense you would be depressed over that. It's like having your twin turn into the Prince of England. It also shows just how good of a show this can really be when it wants to, to bring out emotions like that.

Coincidence maybe? But even the video itself says it was unintentional. However, because it has come this far coincidentally, it could possibly continue coincidentally all the way to the last step. And if it does, that doesn't mean that Twilight will go back to being a unicorn. The guy who made this video was just speculating the last step of the Hero's Journey.

Also, in that Freedom to Live shot in the Princess Twilight analysis Youtube video, it showed Twilight magically tossing her wings in a trash-can. This probably implies that, once she gives up her title of princess to return to her original life as a librarian, that would also mean giving up her wings.

 

So why do you say that Twilight will keep her wings even after returning to her old life as a librarian from Ponyville?

I'm neatrul. It could result in a intresting change in the plot, or it could just mean she's immortal and is a mary sue. My question is will she stay with her friends or become proper royalty? I'd be perfectly okay if it followed a similar plot to Princess Promenade - A G3 movie - where she is a princess but that narrows down to not being able to spend time with friends. So she steps down (Or makes everyone a princess)

I would have prefered that it happened in the very last episode of the series, but I'm okay with it. As long as she doesn't become a Mary Sue, I think this could bring a lot more interesting concepts for episodes in.

I just hope the writers don't screw up from here

I'm still not totally sold on the idea, but I just don't care enough to make a fuss.  I just hope that the writers recognize and address the fans' concerns.

I love Twilicorn so far! I mean she'll still be the same Twilight Sparkle we've grown to love (hopefully) so I don't see what the problem is. They're just going in a different direction with her character is all. I mean there will probably be some changes but she will most likely be the same Twilight.

Keeping Twilight as she was would've been "playing it safe." Established, well-realised character, proven winner with the audience.

 

"Twilicorn" is the antithesis of playing it safe. And, in many ways, so is My Little Pony: Frinedship is Magic when compared to the MLP cartoons that came before it. Embracing the character is, for me, embracing what makes this series stand out.

I have nothing against Twilight being an Alicorn Princess, as long as it doesn't change who she really is. I thought the season finale was really rushed and didn't like it for that reason but nothing against Alicorn Twilight. Also this link here http://www.themarysue.com/tara-strong-interview/ Tara Strong says that it won't change who she is or the core of the show which as long as that is true I can see it leading to great things in season 4.

I honestly could care less about Twilicorn. She hasn't done anything yet so I can't hate her. That also means I can't like her either. I'll just have to wait until Season 4 to see.

   To be completely honest, I don't really think so. I feel this was something for the series finale that could've been the reveal ending after all the other ponies reach their goals. Now that I look back at it, it ended like a series should, not just a season. And because of that, I do not feel like MLP:FiM will feel the same for Season 4 + as it did for Season 2 and 1 (Season 1 and 2 and their atmosphere are what made me a brony, but Season 3 was disappointing for a reason I cannot explain, other than "it felt [badly] different").

 

   It just seems that now Twilight is so different from any other pony. In my opinion, that was her appeal. She was an average unicorn,  but with a bright future. To have her reach that goal is fine, but to keep playing onto that? Meh...

   

   However, I will try to have faith in the writers.

I'm honestly on the fence as to Twilight becoming an Alicorn, but as Flipturn said, we only saw three minutes of this new Twilight. Hardly enough time to form any solid opinion on whether turning her into a princess was a good idea or not... Until Season 4 comes out, we shouldn't count our chickens before they've hatched!

 

I wasn't too keen on Discord turning good ay first, but Keep Calm and Flutter On turned out to be one of my favorite episodes from season 3!

 

Maybe I'll end up liking the decision once I get a chance to see more of Twicorn!

At first, I wasn't satisfied with the season's finale, I wanted more... but now, I think that finale completed his goal, and makes me want to see what will happen next

I honestly am not so happy about Twilicorn... I feel like twilight sparkle is is entering an Ash Ketchum-center-of-the-universe type situation.

 

One of my favorite qualities of mlp is that, although twilight sparkle is the main character, each character has a lot of personal exposure as well as a strength that sets them apart from the others, and puts the mane 6 on the same level.

 

I'm not quite sure where this change will lead the story or how it will effect the character development. I'm afraid it might be the start of a dead end, but I assume the producers will do whatever they can to keep the show running.

I do not like it at all. There is no chance in hell she will be the same ever again. Her role and how she acts is certainly going to be different. Meghan might have said she is the same, but I'm not buying it. I thought there was going to be a Rarity episode last season because McCarthy said there was going to be one. Though, she made some changes and Rarity didn't get. That makes Meghan a liar.

I agree with whoever says the Season 4 premiere should involve Twilight giving up her princessdom in order to save her friends.

I'm sorry, it's just that, the way I see it, you can't put a major change into a character like Twilight AND get away with it while continuing with the entire series.

It's just not right.

At the end of the Season 3 finale I was SOOOO not used to Twilight flying.
