In yet another example of how copyright and trademark laws desperately need to be changed some greedy butthurt bastard decided to jam up the courts and sue Nintendo over the 3DS because there are some small similarities between that and some of his ideas.

It looks like the lawsuit won't go anywhere but the fact that such stupid and pointless lawsuits go on really bother me.

This guy is a genius. Sue one of the biggest gaming companies on the planet and expect to win. I agree with the writer, he should have went after the correct and much smaller target, though he still would have lost. It seems like new ideas themselves will soon be outlawed.

Someone has too much money to throw away to lawyers fees and damages to Nintendo Ah well, he's either 1) very dumb, 2) sincerely believes that his ideas were stolen or 3) is being paid by some unknown 3rd party to do this.

Sad but true, Nintendo may be in the right in this case but that still dosen't make the fact that big corporations almost always win regardless of whether they are in the wrong or the right any less unsettling.

That's the problem with the US patent and copyright systems, you can essentially own the rights to common sense ideas.

If copyright and patent laws existed as they do now when the wheel was invented or electricity was discovered then people might still own the "rights" to them to this very day.

According to the article, Nintendo doesn't even own the rights to the 3D technology in the 3DS, they just have permission from Sharp to implement it.

 

That's just... sad.  On the suer's part, that is.  There's absolutely no way their bank account will be anything but more empty by the time this is over.

Nintendo wont lose. They wont. They're a HUGE gaming company and been around since the 80s since "Nintendo" came out. They're in fact, one of the first major gaming companies. Sure, there was small game companies before Nintendo, but Nintendo had the most successful copyrighted games. They came up with the characters and the plots of the games. They just cant lose, it'd be impossible. Not trying to point out that Playstation is bad and same as Xbox, but they kind of copied Nintendo more then anything else. Im sure they had permission by Nintendo, but Nintendo wont die out. I just know it!

This is exactly why i cant stand the current world. Everyone has to cut at one another's throat at every point of the day. This is seen in polotics, buisiness (seen here), and everywhere else where people are able to commune. Its maddening to think that these 'adults' weve been raised to respect and see as role models are so... fill in word for yourself i cant think of any... 'appropriate words at the moment. I'm sure you're right about them not being beat, just saw a minor error. Nintendo has been around since ~1889 making playing cards. Now if you mean the Nintendo logo as it is now, then you're right .

Be it Nintendo, Hasbro, Apple whichever I think this is just another waste of the courts time fighting over something that doesn't need to be fought over.  3D technology is as public domain as air itself. You don't see SONY going after Samsung for them producing 3D TVs.

This is all just a bunch of bologna!  IF there was a problem here, they would have done something long ago, like when the 3DS was announced or newly released, not months after the fact...
