Rockband 3 is in my opinion the greatest. Those games are really fun and addicting, but RB3 took it to a whole new level with pro (for those of you who dont know thats where there are literally all of the frets on guitar, cymbals and pads on drums, and keys on piano). It showed the rhythm gaming community that a game can be fun and actually teach you how to play an instrument.

Portal

Diablo II

Civilization II

Age of Empires II

Warcraft III: TFT (Because of the custom maps)

Heroes of might and magic III Complete

Armagetron Advanced

NetHack

Minecraft (simply because it is sort of unique and it also embraces an important part of gaming, user made content)

There are many games that sacrifice many things for better looks. A good example is Heroes of might and magic. From 1-3 it went up in amount of content, but then (Well, i didn't play IV so i got was shocked to find V being a total waste of time).. Less maps, no random map generator, smaller maps. Sorry, but i liked how one match could take forever. That is what made the game "epic".

Also one thing they should never take away is user made content. This seems to happen with Diablo 3, because they have no single player option. That means no mods. Blizzard, why? I figured that a company that has a game like Warcraft III, would understand the potential of user made content. I blame Activision.

I would easily have to say for me, it would be a Internet Spaceship MMO called EVE Online, most of you have probably never heard of it. It is made by a company from Iceland called CCP. This is not like most MMOs, This game has few rules regarding game play, You are welcome to do all sorts of things, from Meta Gaming, to scamming newbs to veterans out of everything they own, This is like hardcore diablo in a sense that, you could loose everything in a blink of the eye, and be out weeks of hard work. The world is broken into 3 parts, High Security, Low Security, and No Security, In No Security space, the players make up all of the rules, and they have full control over the territory, and basically call the shots, until some one else comes along, and literally takes the space away from them. Go to youtube, and search for some EVE Online videos. I have been playing for about 3 years now, and I don't see myself stopping any time soon. I control a PVP Corporation that lives in No Security space, that is part of a bigger corp, which is like a guild in most traditional games.

Eh sorry if some of this didn't make sense, eve is kind of hard to really explain, go watch some videos of it, its EVE Online made by CCP.

For me, it would have to be the Dead Space series. I just love the game-play and the story to it. I just can't get enough of it.

Just another background cat. Move along.

I'd have to say Dungeons&Dragons simply because I've grown up with it and you can literally change the rules of the game! hey, nobody said that this was limited to video games

Metal Gear Solid 3:Snake Eater

Never has the story of a game been so exiting to me. Also a lot of ways to get past your enemy

Fallout-3

Best open-world game with exiting side-quests and a lot of epic moments, even if you just roam around and explore the wasteland. Vanilla a better game than New Vegas, with mods both are great

Resident Evil4

Best Horror game in my eyes. Played it a lot on the gamecube

Red Dead Redemption

Also a really great open world game and in my opinion better than GTA

Burnout 3:Takedown

Best Arcade Racer that was way ahead of it's time

GTR²

Best racing sim(with NASCAR Racing 2003:Season). Played it in an online league and had a lot of exiting races

IL-2:1946

Best combat flight game with an awesome online mode.

Super Mario 64:

My first Jump and Run and still my favorite

1) Deus ex 1-For the time it was released, this is INCREDIBLE! Overall, it's... STILL INCREDIBLE! Plot twists, all the possibilities, extreme freedom, character developement. Off course, I could spot few bugs, but... My vision is augmented. What a shame, but I have nerves of steel.

2)Deus ex 3. Second one was kind of... Unfinished. Maybe they should have sent it back to the developers. In a body bag.

3)Mafia 1-excellent story and storytelling, atmosphere, graphics.

4)Gta: SA-I still listen to da ol' school hiphop cause of this ish!

5)Gta: IV-Excellent Euphoria engine. I mean, the reactions of the people being pushed off stai... *cough* I mean... Great story! Plus-only in this country do they allow blind people to drive!

6)Quake live. Awesome game, I play it all the time! Holy sh*t! Excellent!

7)Tribes:Vengeance. Complicated, but fun online 3rd/1st person shooter/rpg.

8)It's just too many games, I can't really sort them, so here are the others-Just Cause 2, Saints row the Third, Mercanaries: World in flames, Berušky- SUPER old, yet great game, Off course Mafia 2, Tribes 2, Rainbow 6-Vegas, Doom 1 and 2 (Haven't played 3), gta 1 and 2...

4)Vietcong-One of the greatest Vietnam themed games with missions.

5)CoD Mw3-Just awesome singleplayer and multiplayer

6)The Sims 2-Great game with loads of ways to make your own little family

7)Little Big Planet-Some people find it childish, but I find it really fun. The graphics are so different from other games, and that's just great.

The greatest game of all time?

I'd have to agree with Finest that Majora's Mask is one of the best, with all the side quests. Especially the AnjuxKafei quest.

Age of Empires II is one of the best RTS games in my opinion.

I'd like to thank the MLP Vector Club for the images used in my avatar.

Doom. Its been ported to anything with a CPU (much like tetris), one of the first 3D games ever made, easily modded and great gameplay. If Doom wasn't made, the gaming industry would be vastly different.

I can neither confirm nor deny myself being the cause of electrical related malfunctions. Anyways, you wouldn't happen to have a jar of replacement magic smoke would you?

I would probably have to pick Thief II: The Metal Age. The original Thief game created the stealth-em-up genre, and the second perfected it. It's got nice aesthetic, good music, sprawling environments, smart AI, tight controls, and surprisingly funny guard dialogue. The only real problem I have with it is that it's a good cause of the forced stealth section in every modern game.

You can't choose one! XD

My favorites are: Megaman 2, Sonic 2, Zelda OoT, Portal 2.

Those are the best to their respective systems.

I'd have to say either Deus Ex, Morrowind, or Halo: CE.

Deus Ex had an amazing story, great freedom of playstyle, and awesome replayability.

Morrowind also had one of my favorite stories of all time, sure the gameplay was a little wonky, but the story and music more than made up for it.

Halo: CE is one of the greatest shooters, imo. It had awesome graphics for its time and had amazing gameplay.

I'd have to say Doom. That game brought the FPS genre into major popularity, and inspired other people to make their own games. Without Doom, we probably wouldn't have all the FPS we have today.

But I wish I could say Half Life. It was amazingly made, and the plot is great. The gameplay was revolutionary for it's time. Plus, it won over 50 "PC Game of the Year" awards :P

I HAD TO FALL TO LOSE IT ALL BUT IN THE END IT DOESN'T EVEN MATTER /WRISTS

Unreal Tournament, Diablo II, Metal Gear Solid, Spyro The Dragon or doom.

All those games spawned imitators, launched/popularised genres, or were just amazing :3
