What are some shows you enjoy or love that get bashed a lot? I myself can't really think of any at the moment, but what about you guys?

Hmm......DBZ has a pretty mixed reputation among anime fans. I've ran into my fair share of hardcore anime fans who don't care for DBZ at all.

 

Nothing else comes to mind, really. Unless MLP counts.

Hmmm...nope, nothing comes to mind. I don't think I'm into any shows that get bashed a lot because usually people like me don't watch them. Nothing at all, especially not something they have a forum about.

I dont know if Beyblade gets bashed a lot, but that's one show that I love.

It probably does though, since after all it is a kids anime show about spinning metal tops that could kill you at high speeds.

Hmm.. I'm watching you. But I guess, if no one bashes the shows that you watch then, I see no reason to get bashed for watching them.

Also, Lucky Star is bashed pretty often by anime fans, and I enjoy watching it. I'm also a fan of both Star Wars and Star Trek, and they're constantly bashing eachother.

Aside from maybe MLP FIM, whilst it's not a lot. There's this sitcom from England called My Family, got axed about two years ago after 11 years on the air. But that got bashed, It wasn't the funniest of best written or anything, but I thought it was quite good and a good laugh

MLP obviously but most of the people bashing it won't even give it a chance I was skeptical at first but I at least did that much. Other than that though the only show that comes to mind is Family Guy which is often accused of being a rip off of the Simpsons and though I will admit there are quite a few similarities between the two shows I don't really think that is an entirely fair comparison. The Simpsons has been on the air so long and has done so many things that it is inevitable that Family Guy will have some episodes and scenes that have striking similarities.

Gummy Bears is not a favorite among my friends, but I adore it. I also thought Skunk-Fu! was halfway decent. A buddy and I had a few beers and watched a dvd I bought of it that had like 5 episodes, and we were reasonably entertained. I mean, it might've had to do with the beers too, but still. And I like DBZ. And occasionally Pokemon (but mostly its older seasons. It never evolved. Get it? Evolved? ...I'm tired. Think I need a beer.)

Family Guy and The Big Bang Theory.

Not sure why TBBT gets so much hate, it seems like a lot of people think that the only ones who watch the show are hipsters who want to feel smarter than everyone else, which is not the case at all. I get the feeling that the haters are just projecting.

 

I also noticed that a lot of bronies hate Littlest Pet Shop, they keep saying it's a bad copycat of MLP FiM. I just watch it for the same reason that I watch MLP: interesting characters, stories and awesome musical numbers. It's nowhere as good as FiM of course, but still fun to watch.

Well.. I dunno to be totally honest I don't really like any other shows that come on anymore besides MLP of course, so unless that counts I'm fresh out of choices.

 

I can't really think of any shows I know of that I watched that got bashed anyways..

 

I could probably pretty easily get into one, It doesn't really take that much to impress me. Yet for me to impress myself.. thats a different story, i'm not nearly as critical of other things then I am of myself .

I used to watch a lot of Vh1 programming, especially those reality shows they had. Reality shows in general are pretty scoffed at by many, but damn if I wasn't entertained by Flavor of Love, Rock of Love, and whatever else would show on that channel.

I felt that DBZ's sagas felt different enough so that it didn't become repetitive (unpopular opinion, I know.) For example, I just can't say that the Frieza saga and the Cell saga are the same exact thing. Both sagas had noticeably different story elements and character developments that set each other apart well enough. Sure, you can make them sound like they're the same thing by taking out certain story elements, but you can do that with basically any series.

 

You do have a point with Pokemon, though. I swear, it's like Ash suffers from amnesia after every season and forgets everything he learned previously.

One Piece - I know it's majorly popular in Japan, and has quite an internet following now, however, it still falls prey to people who haven't given it a chance beyond when 4Kids screwed it up, as well as the anti-Shonen elitists who hate everything Shonen without giving them a chance.

 

On that note, I don't particularly love Naruto, but it gets bashed way too much. It's to a point of annoyance. Every "What do you find overrated?" topic is flooded with 'Naruto' in like every post. Nobody stops to think "You know? Maybe it's not so overrated now... Everybody really seems to hate it these days." But no. It must be a reflex to post it in overrated topics. It's just a hate fad.

I always figured that One Piece was the only long-running Shonen anime that anime fans didn't constantly hate on. I mean, sure, I have seen a little bit of bashing towards One Piece (not including any hate towards the 4Kids dub), but nowhere near as much as I've seen bashing of DBZ, Naruto, and Bleach. I always figured that because One Piece was the least popular out of the 4 most famous shonens (DBZ, Naruto, Bleach, and One Piece) when it came over to the US, it managed not to succumb to the "this is popular, so I hate it" treatment.

Oh fine!... I like My Little Pony Friendship is Magic! I admit it! Other than that, I really watch any television. I suppose I could go with some old cartoons I still like that are somewhat guilty pleasures.

 

Beyblades: A kids tv show about tops! I can smell the ratings!... It actually isn't too bad of a series, well, I can say that for the first season before it went cartoony and stated using bad cgi. The animation was entertaining, I enjoyed the characters, the plot was actually somewhat interesting, but once again how can you justify a show about tops to your friends? It is a bit hard to swallow...

 

Yugioh is also a bit of a guilty pleasure, even I make fun of it regularly and I liked the show! It's just so easy to do, there are so many cheesy lines and pointless plot threads, not to mention an extremely successful parody of it.

Apart from the elephant in the room, I also consider myself a fan of The Big Bang Theory, Phineas and Ferb, and I used to be a fan of Star Wars: The Clone Wars prior to the nigh-unwatchable 5th season.

Three cartoons I really like that have gotten more or less unfavorable opinions are TUFF Puppy, Kappa Mikey and Napoleon Dynamite(yes this actually exists). 

 For Kappa Mikey, what dew me in was the fact that it was a ginormous anime parody featuring different things many anime fans would recognize, from two main characters similar to Pikachu and Goku(who was actually voiced by Goku's voice actor himself), to some sick cross between Kakashi and Professor Oak. While the show's quality plummeted by the second season, it was still something I was happy with

 

With Napoleon Dynamite, I was a huge fan of the movie when it first came out, and was surprised by how faithful it was to the movie while having it's own twist. It made me sad at how a lot of people(though mostly users at IGN mind you) were already quick to harp on the show before it even came out, simply because it came late after the movie aired.

 

As for TUFF Puppy, I guess I'm a sucker for Butch Hartman shows(even though Fairly Odd Parents has ran it's course)

 

And while I agree with the many people who prefer History Channel to be about History, Pawn Stars is a pretty neat show and actually does a good job at presenting History at appropriate times

 

As for people picking shows like DBZ, Lucky Star, Family Guy and One Piece, bear in mind that a lot of those who bash those are likely just a bunch of hipsters who'll hate on anything that's too popular. Don't let a few loud assholes with shallow opinions get to you

The Big Bang Theory is my 'guilty pleasure' as well. I wouldn't say that people think those who watch it are as you mentioned people saying, because that's definitely not true. The most common criticism I've found is that the show's humor is repetitive and formulaic. And yeah, I would definitely agree with that, but it's no big deal to me. TBBT is some good shit, mang.
