No, this is not about a 70s band, rather, it's about another reason that PETA is insane.

 

This is a thread to talk about their campaign to rename fish to be "Sea kittens".

 

This sounds like some kind of joke that should be in forum lounge, but no, it's real.

Personally I think it's one of the long list of reasons why PETA should not exist and it's members are whackjobs. You have to remember. PETA was also the group who suggested that Ben And Jerry's ice cream replace their cow milk with human milk.

I'm all for this - with a name like Sea Kittens, even less people will take them seriously, which is all for the best judging by the things I've seen from them.

 

Though some of those creatable sea kittens are pretty sweet. I still think the name is really bad... :3

PETA supports strictly vegan diets for children, which actual government (Not PETA funded like the research they quote) can be fatal. In fact, vegan diets have landed someone a murder charge because the vegan diet killed their child.

Actually, that's kinda cute.

 

And while I'm not not PETA-guy in any shape or form, some things people do with and to fish are pretty damn brutal and it's generally considered ok instead of animal torture, because, you know, it's just fish. So, maybe PETA is doing something rational and reasonable for once, unless I terribly misunderstood what this is about.

Oh god I can't, I just can't. Seriously PETA, do you have nothing better to do? This is just like when you attacked Super Mario because of the Tanoki suit, it does nothing to save the animals and only gives you negative attention. Sea kittens, oh god, my sides.

 

All PETA really wants is attention, thats all they seem to care about, even above the animals themselves. Now, I'm all for animal rights (I'm a veggo myself) but seriously, renaming fish sea kittens? That's their goal? How unrealistic can you get? (Also you have to remember that sharks are technically fish). Why don't they spend their money on, oh I dunno, maybe conservation and wildlife protection, rather than these ridiculous projects?

Actually a friend of mine was at the local fair at the goat petting zoo with his friend. A peta person comes along and realeases all his goats for some odd reson. Then he socks the guy in the face.

If they want to make themselves look stupid I am all for it, this is the dumbest thing they have done since threw a hissy fit over the tanooki (racoon dog) suit returning in Super Mario 3D Land because it supposedly gives the message that it is okay to skin tanooki's alive. Seriously, they even made a mediocre flash game where you play as a tanooki trying to get his skin back from Mario.
