I had to vote for Folk Metal as my sole favorite metal genre. It's followed up by Power Metal, but I do branch out a bit from there.

I went with Thrash and Grind. I love most of those genres, but I think these are my consistent faves. next would prob be traditional. I friggin love Judas Priest. GWAR is prob my favorite, but I'm on a Ghoul kick now. Kinda crossover grind/thrash with a theatrical edge. This vid isn't a prime example of their sound, but I love the visuals

I'm bringing this thread back to life, this poll is way too epic for it to die. I voted for a shitload of subgenres because I listen to a shitload of subgenres.

I'm more of a Hardcore Punk, Skramz and Post-Hardcore person, but since those aren't even metal to begin with, I'll have to vote for Metalcore. Metalcore and Sludge seems to be the only genres on that poll that I actively listen to

The second question pleases the genre nazi within me

Melodic death metal is my favorite, but I also really enjoy a few metalcore bands whom have a lot of influence from MDM. Give me some early In Flames, Dark Tranquility, Nightrage, etc. and I'm in heaven. wub.png

Since I had added a vote on this a long time ago I decided to delete my vote and add on a new one, this time I've chose Doom, Sludge, Black, Grindcore, Metalcore, and Drone.

I'm not much of a metalhead, but I don't mind Nu-Metal. Other than that I could never think of any other sub-genres that I like. As I said, I'm not much of a metalhead.

I voted for power metal, melodic death metal, symphonic metal, gothic metal, folk metal, viking metal, and technical death metal.

I like the fact that metal has different subgenres, because there really is a big difference between certain kinds of metal. The fact that there are different subgenres makes it easier for me to pinpoint more precisely what kinds of music I like, which makes it easier to find new bands to listen to, to understand what exactly it is I'm listening to, and to be able to better describe to other people what I like to listen to.

Hey now, don't be mean.

Anyway, I generally don't like Nu Metal. I think the one exception is Slipknot, though I prefer their later Alternative Metal stuff to their earlier Nu Metal sound.

Vol. 3 was a masterpiece... just sayin'.

It's a little odd that I don't like Nu Metal though, seeing as I'm a big Industrial fan and everything. I just find Nu Metal really boring and I dislike the style and culture that surrounds it.

Also, Brostep > Dubstep.

Come at me bro.

I don't know if they count, but I do like Deftones. Roots era Sepultura is good too. I never liked Slipknot though, I always found them to be boring.

Oh, and I posted that back when I was going through my "you all suck" phase.

Thank you!!!!!! I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who likes that album the most out of Slipknot's albums.

I believe Deftones is alternative metal. Actually, I heard that Nu Metal is a form of alternative metal. Is that true, or are they completely separate?

Folk Metal is my favorite sub-genre

Eluveitie, Korpliklaani, moonsorrow FTW!

I own every Eluveitie CD, they are the best Folk Metal band in my opinion.

Thrash Metal is my favorite no doubt. With Crossover being an obvious second.

But in my heart it'll always be Thrash. Though I do like some old school death metal.

But Old and New Thrash. It don't matter. As long as it's Thrash.

There probably isn't a Thrash Metal band i don't like.

I guess heavy and metalcore are my favorites, with metalcore being higher.

Also, shouldnt deathcore be an option as well? I listen to that just as much as metalcore. So both of those would be my favorite subgenres.

I never really got into Deftones, I find them annoying, but is it just me, or do they sound kinda Shoegazy as well?

And Yeah, it's amazing. It was also one of my the first CD's I ever owned... The first one being Robbie Williams, but let's not go into that.

I like a lot of different music, and metal is one of them. I'm not really familiar with what all of these are though. So I'm just gonna guess. I put Progressive and Symphonic Metal, because they sound like what I would listen to.
