mega thread Unpopular Music Related Opinions

Surely you must realize, the only people that actually like the Beatles are dads, and kids who think "I was born in the wrong generation. I listen to Zepplin, classic rock, the list could go on really..."

It doesn't get any more true than this. Stuff like that is good on occasion but I wouldn't listen to it everyday. People who say those things are usually twelve, they haven't had enough time to realize how stupid they sound.

Hmm. Meep. Wrong, so arrogant and naive.

I listen to everything and anything that is good. Beatles are good, so is Zeppelin(wtf man). I hate the term classic rock with a passion,

I guess I should provide Modernish bands that I think are good as well, Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Foo Fighters, Linkin Park, Snow Patrol, Radiohead, Soundgarden, Staind, the list goes on and on. Your one of those that hate music just because it is old, which is just as bad as what you described above.

Dude, Linkin Park fucking blows, hard. I guess that counts as an unpopular opinion. Yea Linkin Park fucking sucks. Bland, Radio friendly and boring. Edited by AtDawnTheySquee

I've never heard a 12 year old in my fracing life say that. Most 12 year olds don't give a frac about music. Hell I'm the only young adult in my area that even gives a shit about older music, as far as I know(probably right). Way too many people don't give it a fracing chance just because it is old. Why the frac am I explaining this to you, you already know all this shit. I will confess that for a short time I did hold the belief that ugh..... "classic" rock was way better than anything nowadays, I think I was like 15/16 when all I had to go off of was the radio. Hell back then I thought just about all music sucked.

I don't think I was born in the wrong generation, I just think most of our generation people of all ages are fracing stupid. At least in Iowa they are, where there basically is/was no music scene. All they do is follow the fucking trends from the coasts.

Why does everyone keep shiting on Zeppelin, their fucking poetic and fucking awesome. Use some shitty band from the 70's that everyone loves as an example. Can't think of one off the top of my head, shit. Stop using Zeppelin as an example. Not really directed at you Dawn.

Nice opinion, I figured something like that was going to happen. Greenday is better than Blag Flag(burn) and Linkin Park doesn't suck. I could give 0 shits how radio friendly a band is, that not how I judge bands. Bands are either good or fucking terrible. I'm pretty sure that Linkin Park being good is a popular opinion, just not on this thread.  Fuck that, that explanation sucks and only ruffles your feathers even more. Real answer: You wouldn't begin to understand why I like Linkin Park and I'm not going to delve into the dark recesses of my mind to try to explain it why I like them. There is a much deeper emotional connection that I have with the music I listen to,

The song "Radioactive" sounds like a Coldplay ripoff with frickin' dubstep or some shit.

I don't get what is so great about that song.

*Eye twitch* How can you not like that song? It's awesome, however I will admit that Imagine Dragons do have a few songs that sound like something Coldplay could come up with. Night Visions is a pretty good album even if a few of the songs are pretty weak...

As for my unpopular opinions on music....er I can't quite get why people like harder sounding Metal songs. I feel that some of those songs sound as if the instruments are being battered around for a few minutes, it doesn't seem to have the obvious structure that other songs seem to have. (Despite the fact I have a ton of Metallica albums.... so meh)

Perhaps it's because I listen to a lot of alternate rock and indie bands which a bit of rap in there too.

Oh boy, this is going to set a lot of people off tomorrow. :) Of course it will be interesting to see how civil they are about it since your a moderator. Hehe...I used to have a similar opinion about a month ago. Metal is still not my favorite, but I have a new appreciation for it.

I'm sure they'll understand that I'm not completely serious and that this thread isn't to be taken seriously xD. I can obviously understand why people like it, I even listen to a bit of Metallica now and again tongue.png

Also! I'd like to remind everyone that we need to keep these conversations and discussions civil. I understand this is for unpopular opinions but I've seen way too much use of vulgarity here. Can we tone it down?

Oops sorry, I'm one of those that you speak of. I got waaaaay too much into this thread the last two days. I think I'm done with this thread, started out in good fun, but now it just drives me nuts. I've gone and compromised myself. sleep.png (shame, this is supposed to represent shame, not quite sure so I thought I would type out this long explanation) I think this is the most I've ever cussed in my life.

I don't think I have anymore unpopular music opinions either anyway. happy.png Time to go back to being happy and carefree with my days.

Some people need to take a step back and realize that this is the internet and who they're talking to. If you're looking for a completely serious post, especially about music, don't look at this guy. So, want me to pass the salt?

As for my unpopular opinions on music....er I can't quite get why people like metal, it doesn't really sound like music to me just random instruments being battered around for a few minutes. (Despite the fact I have a ton of Metallica albums........)

But metal's so diverse that you can't even say that ;_;

You've got everything from black to prog to death to alternative to folk to anything in between. Despite what people think, there is a large difference between the subgenres. Some are actually meant to sound like random noise (leaning towards blacknoise and grindcore), which doesn't exactly fix the stereotype.

Look at the difference, yo.

That don't change anything, boi.

Like Twiliscael said, there is so much diversity that it's impossible to state something like that. There's everything from slow stoner metal to über aggressive grindcore. Just look around, you'll probably find something you like

I hate LE WRONG GENERASHION idiots just as much as the next guy, but that claim is so awfully wrong that it gives me a headache.

So what, only because people like dadrock does that mean they're dads or 'rebelious' 12 years old?

Or are you the kind of guy who is too cool to listen to mainstream stuff like Beatles and Queen and prefers his superior indie bands and looks down upon people who like popular stuff?

Of course and I agree! I was about the amend my post to make it sound less like I was bashing the genre but then I got replies. I think it may be that the ones that I've listened too are a little too hard on the ears for me. As I said afterwards, I do appreciate the genre just it seems the songs I've come across aren't for me. (Some-one who listens to a lot of indie/alternate music)

Not impossible but unlikely. It's an unpopular opinion after all. x)

I for one don't think Metal sound like Aaramus initially described it but i can see why some do generalize it. Expanding into sub-genres and different styles often elevate this problem. Gems can be found everywhere if you search just like you said. :)

I actually don't mind nickelback, while they're not a band i go out of my way to listen to, i don't mind hearing it every now and then in a mix of music.

Classical is too underrated.

Coldplay is boring.

True, I should have formulated myself correctly there :P

Coldplay is boring.

That's a very popular opinion in this thread, and in most places on the internet.

I hate Coldplay, everyone on the internet hates them but IRL it's the opposite.

I listen to some "dadrock" everyonce in a while, but these 12 year olds just look pretentious. I've noticed that they are the same group of people who call metal random noise, classical boring, electronic random noise, etc.

I think I get what you mean. I much prefer metal bands like Metallica as opposed to the really heavy bands that just play as fast and heavy as possible and don't really have any kind of melody or anything in the music. I mean not that those bands aren't talented, I just don't care for the music really.

*Eye twitch* How can you not like that song? It's awesome, however I will admit that Imagine Dragons do have a few songs that sound like something Coldplay could come up with.

1. I find it boring

2. It sounds way too much like Coldplay, which is also boring

3. I just find that style of music to be boring in general

However, it's not necessarily a bad song, I just think it's a bit boring and overrated. I think the main reason I don't really like it is because my friend wouldn't shut the hell up about it and it kind of got on my nerves.

I'd say you pretty much hit the nail on the head with the hammer. If it's been heard by more than a thousand people, I don't wanna listen to it buddy.

No offense, but why would you want to limit yourself like that? There's probably so much great music you're missing out on just because of that.

You are aware that this is not unpopular

And yeah, I'm a fan of that kind of stuff, mostly because of how emotional it is, they are able to really get emotions like anger, hatred and despair out quite well within their music. It's also nice music for when you just wanna headbang for a while.

Wow, I can't believe the amount of stupidity in your post.

>I DON'T LIKE BEATLES! THEREFORE THEY'RE BAD AND PEOPLE ARE BAD FOR LISTENING!

>MY OPINION IS FACT!!!!

I'm sure you're just spitting bullshit with "I've listened to all their albums several times". Really, stop it. You're not being a badass by saying the Beatles suck. You're only being edgy, and that's pathetic.

But I guess you'll carry on being an immature kid trying to look cool by saying the Beatles suck even though that's your opinion. Your stupid opinion.

But whatever. Reply if you may, I won't keep responding to your opinions, mate.

I like how he has yet to give any valid reason for them being bad other than saying "they are pretty bad"

Although, I have to say that their music is actually pretty simplistic...I mean so many bands after them have created such more interesting, creative, complex music.

I guess the best way to describe them is as the foundation for what we have today.

The Rolling Stones aren't that great.

I never got into The Who

Not sure how unpopular this is, Metallica's music started to decline as time went by. DM is a step up, but they're never going to make something as good as Kill Em' All ever again.

That's kind of popular... but when the decline began varies. Some say after Cliff died (who is really overrated) some say when they made the Black Album etc etc.

Not sure how unpopular this opinion is but I think the term "selling out" is ridiculous. (explaination coming soon)
