People are into what people are into. Every subculture or fandom is bound to have its fair share of opposition, but everyone on the planet fits into some kind of subculture, so no one really has a reason to throw stones. I don't consider myself a furry, but I'm interested in the subculture, and as an artist, I like the idea of animals with human characteristics, because there's no limit to how creative you can get. I might not consider myself a part of that subculture, but I've got nothing against the people who do, and if it makes them happy, I support them all the way.

I've got an idea! No..... No, wait; it's just a concussion....

I see nothing wrong with furries..until it gets to the creepy stuff. Same thing goes for the mlp fandom as well. As being a furry myself I see my kinda thing as like a spirit animal.

Honestly there is a lot more porn in furry fandom. Like, if you search up furry anthro there are so many naked ponies.

Maybe I have xray vision or something but the ponies in MLP are usaully naked.

I kind of feel like they're distant cousins or something, since bronies are like my extended family. ;)

Honestly, I sort of feel the same way about furries, that I did about bronies before becoming one myself, albeit to a lesser extent; I think they're cool, don't mind them at all, and in fact kinda ... um ... 'respect' them in a way, for the lack of a better word. Unless that is the word. I don't know. xD

One of my friends is actually a furry- but from what I can tell she has a strong hatred for bronies, and seems to ridicule any pony-related posts I make. Not sure what's up with that (she seems to 'only accept me' though ...), but it ain't gonna make me start hating on furries as a whole. Only her ... ... I'm kidding of course. :P

Also, I'm a fox. I guess that would count as a 'fursona' right?

I don't understand the fur suits they look really uncomfortable.

As for likeing anthro or what not...  Meh. I have no strong opinion.    Beauty can be found in almost anything. Who am I to say they are wrong?

Fursuits can be fun. But they're expensive, upwards of $2,000-$3,000 for a REALLY nice one. But they're also quite the sweatbox.Which is why there's something called a "Headless lounge" at every con for fursuiters. It's so they can pull off their fursuit head and take a breather. It's also where one can change into fursuit.

And boy do those lounges smell terrible. Never work security at a furricon.

I have been a furry since i was about 17. Love the cute little animals all anthro and stuff. I dived into the community and well...if you think bronies are seen as neckbeards then furries will creep you the buck out.

Sure their are cool furries out there, but most of the furry community is made up of immoral degenerates.  I speak from my experiences, of course.

Still a bit to close to uncanny valley for me.  I'd probably stop at ears and a tail.   Nothin' against it,  just ain't for me.

Can one be considered a furry even if they don't like the suits?

Of course. Most furies don't even have a fursuit. A lot also don't' really like or want them for various reasons.

This kind of discussion goes in many different directions..

But my personal stand point, if someone truly loves something and feels great compassion... I don't care what they like or who they are. If they're cool (meaning they're not rude and just downright foul) then I'm okay with them! :D

Now, I've had personal experience with a furry. I had a good friend who was truly a furry.. He believed he was born with the spirit of a kangaroo. So he associated himself with other furies. He also associated with "Humans" too but he preferred his own group of beings. This troubled him in various ways (not going to go into detail due to my respect and confidentiality even though we're no longer friends).

Now, i'm not one to judge because judging isn't cool either way... but when you allow something to cloud up reality. You're taking it too far. So boiling it all down, it's not really the furry logic or being a furry that bothers me... it's when you take things too far and cloud your judgement. Too much of anything is bad, no matter what.. EVEN BROCCOLI. So what I'm saying is... too much of crowding yourself around one specific thing completely destroys variety that this world has to offer.

I don't mind furies, they can be cool. I know tons of people who are BA and I love them! Then there are others who are just too extreme but I won't say bad things about them at all.

NOW, when it comes to those middle school/high school wanna-bes' that go around "IMMA FURRY LOL" and have no idea what they're even talking about, that's just the same type of kids who go around exclaiming their deviant sexuality, but have no personal experience in the matter.

Anyway back to my point, everyone... or every-pony is cool regardless of what you are. Just know where the line is when you're blurring reality.

I consider myself a furry and a brony. I also am active on the video game Second Life and visit both pony and furry sims. I also know a few bronies in real life.

Every time I visit a pony sim, after getting to know some bronys and checking others profile, I notice at least 3/4 of those bronies are furries as well. There are also furries in pony Sims who happen to be bronies to

When I am in a furry sim there are ponies there as well at time. Moreover, the furries that I have befriended or just checked out their profile out of curiosity happen to be part of a brony group.

Moving into real life, I know some bronies as well who happen to be furries to.

Same thing goes with YouTube users who happen to have furry or pony avatars. Most of those users tend to have furry or pony related favorites or video on their YouTube Profile.

I created a poll for you guys to decide your furry status. It goes from being totally active in the community to only being a furry for the artwork and such. Or you can just be a brony.

Nope! I'm not a furry. I never found much interest in it. I respect people who are furries though, even if to me it's a tad bit odd.

Although I still have some interest in anthropomorphic animals, I dropped the furry title years ago. I'm not exactly why, but one reason could be just how out of place I felt. Look at all this high-quality content everyone's capable of producing, while I'm simply too shy to even pick up a pencil or a copy of Flash. Of course, it shouldn't matter if you're not an artist, but I couldn't think of anything else to contribute. I can also remember my dad having a bias against the fandom for unknown reasons, although he is in full support of me being a brony, where all you have to do is just like watching a cartoon that's commonly said to be intended for a young, female audience.

I am, kinda. I'm just more into the art-style and furry web-comics than I am the actual community or sub-culture at this point.

I don't play by the "rule" that you have to have a title to enjoy something. Also, the ponies ARE anthropomorphic so it's logical that there is a lot of cross-fandom fans between "bronies" and "furries".

You could call me one if you want, I do enjoy cartoon animals. I grew up watching Scooby Doo, Looney Tunes, Digimon, and many other shows with anthro characters. Lion King is my all time favorite movie. And a lot of the art that has been created is amazing.

Just like the FIM fandom, I've found it is a group of mostly great people. But everyone who fits the bill is classified by the shadier parts to the media and those who only know of them from the media. You just gotta ignore those who refuse to learn for themselves what something is about and would rather judge.

Yes. Not into furry stuff as much as I am with the good ol' ponies, but I have enjoyed it for some time.

Uh...... no........? I never understood the appeal of furries or wolves or foxes or whatever the interest lies in, but hey, that's their business. As long as they aren't spamming their r34 junk everywhere, (which most of them are pretty good about not doing) I don't have a problem.
