Heya everypony, furries and bronies have been at each others throats at the beginning when bronies came into existence and well there are still those few who dont like bronies, but im a furr and i love being a brony too, so if there are any other furs out there who are like me *brohoof*

At each others throats? Wait, i didn't know that? Can you explain that to me?

Honestly, while I don't agree with it, I can see why the furry community gets the hate and misunderstanding that it does. I've... well not talked to (I've only ever lurked in the outskirts), but I've seen some absolutly amazing and supportive people, but on the other hand... on the other hand there is a LOT of drama. And I mean a lot. Not to mention this strange... I don't even know what you would call it. Racism (?) among various species. It seems like if you're something "generic" like foxes or wolves you get a lot of slack for it. But again this is speaking as someone who has only ever treaded on the edge of the community and never really gotten herself involved. Have you noticed this?

Honestly you're going to find this where ever you go. Anyone will be instantly critical of someone else's tastes should they find it unoriginal or overrated. The MLP community, though young as I previously stated, is getting this same kind of treatment as well. Especially Vinyl Scratch fans.

Mmm true true. I suppose where I don't really suscribe myself to any fandom communities I don't really notice it. Honestly the way I grew up even probably had a hand in that as well. For all of my... unusual quarks I've never faced any real serious discrimination for them (I realize how sheltered and good I've had it in this respect and I also realize how many others aren't so fortunate). Not for being a furry, for being a brony, for being gay.... even my religious beliefs have always been accepted by the people around me so it still rather shocks me when I see something as begnin as this garner hate.

Sad to... I like Vinyl Scratch.

Edit: BTW I realize this is off topic, but I just had to say I adore your avatar! It's so cute I can't stop staring at it.

Eh. Just don't let it get to you. It's nothing to be worried about as it's all just silly hate talk.

Also, weather you do consider yourself a Brony or a Furry, you have to realize that these things are merely hobbies. I will admit that the furry community has definitely got so many more outlets to it and it can almost seem like a whole different lifestyle, but being furry, just like being a brony, is a decision made by you. It's not something you're born as, and it's not something that you can't change. You can just as easily in the blink of an eye say that you're not going to be involved with MLP anymore as a furry can say about not wanting to be involved with the furry community anymore.. Weather or not they/you have the drive and motivation to actually carry that kid of promise out is up to you.

Also, it sounds like you surround yourself with very good people. I encourage that you spend more time with them!

*Also, thanks! I did draw the avatar myself so it means a lot that you comment on it like that!

Oh I know very well the difference between the fandoms I'm in and the parts of who I am that I was born with and will never be able to change. Not that I see any reason to alter either part of me. :) I consider myself very lucky that I just seem to find the most sensible and tolerant people. Even after I moved away from my hometown I still managed to find myself in a situation where the people I live and work near are very understanding and open.

*I tried to click the link to your deviantart page on your profile, but it wouldn't work. Do you have any site like that where you showcase your art? I would love to see more if you do and wouldn't mind.

So in what seems to be the dumbest sort of "conflicts" I've ever witnessed, there appears to be some tension between furries and bronies. I have a hard time understanding why, but thank whatever being lies above, a fellow furry helped me understand.

He says it's because bronies are "constantly claiming to be furries when they're not."

Firstly, I'd like to say I've never seen this happen anywhere. At all.

Secondly, I'm a member of both fandoms. So does that make me wrong? Can I not be a brony and a furry?

And lastly, I'd like to remind him that a furry is essentially an anthropomorphic animal. Ponies are animals with human traits, so they seem to fit the bill to me.

I've not heard the brony argument for why they dislike furries yet, because I have yet to find one. But I find this so very hypocritical, for the possibly most hated community on the internet to lash out at other fandoms for ridiculous reasons such as this. There was a similar thing regarding the Juggalo fanbase vs furries. It's ridiculous.

And I do note that not all furries are like this. Of course they're not. But if there's enough people in the fandom to hate them to start a sort of conflict it just blows my brains into mush. I cannot wrap my head around why this even happens. Well, I sort of can I suppose.

As far as I can tell, it just seems the two communities don't wanna mix together? Not wanting people to generalise the two as the same thing? I honestly don't even know. If anyone has any better ideas it'd be great to hear.

Wait, that's a thing? Brony/furry conflicts exist? Why?

I'm pretty sure you can be a furry and a brony,

A furry is just someone who sees themselves as an animal right?

I don't see how that stops you from calling your self a brony

One simple answer to this conflict.

One answer to rule them all.

And that answer is-

Who gives a flying fuck what we name ourselves, we are who we are.

I define Bronies as a rather extreme subgroup of Furries. Both celebrate Anthropomorphic Animals.

But alas people will define things in their own way I guess.

I feel the two fandoms should get a long and just sorta stick together in "Paw, Hoof, and Hand".

I feel its just that the two fandoms just pick up on that hatred that both fandoms get from just general haters and take it out on eachother. I find it a bit tragic, if only they could see how similar their fandoms really are.

-Both celebrate Anthropomorphic Animals.

-Both are widely hated

-Both are large fanbases

-Both have tons of art

-Both receive hatred towards their Porn

-Both compared to bestiality/zoophilia

-Both have some great electronic music artists

-Both have huge conventions

Hell, I'd be willing to wager that most of the Brony fandom is structured to be just like the Furry fandom.

I've seen this before too. And really it is so nonsensical. I believe that it comes from these bronies misunderstanding furries and believing all of the negative things said about them and for some reason they just mesh the two fandoms together.

It's simple. Furry fandom simply celebrates anthropomorphic animals and the Brony fandom celebrates My Little Pony. They are not the same. They both are centered around humanized animals, but that really is the only huge similarity I see.

As far as I am concerned, you can be a part of both without being just meshed together as part of one collective group. I for one am both a brony and a furry. From exploring both of the fandoms, I can tell you that they are two different entities. Need I say more?

I get the impression that this "conflict" is completely and utterly unknown to most people (myself included), and is being blown out of whatever minuscule proportion it may actually exist in.

Easy solution, then... don't read Youtube comments? I stopped reading them years ago, and have been a happier person ever since.

I love going through them though.

I actually might take that bit of advice. Every comment section of any popular video I have seen always without fail ends up in a flame war. It just might be a more peaceful world without youtube comments...

It probably is a lot smaller, though I do recall there was some sort of long-term argument on another furry site regarding bronies. It still exists, and still is just as stupid though.

I've never really understood it either, but I try and stay away from furries, all the furries I've met are super perverted and kinda mean. So I guess I can't really help here.

But from all the furry pictures I've seen they're all wolves, dogs cat, stuff like that. Maybe once have I seen a shark furry. But I've never seen a pony furry or a horse furry, so maybe they think " Why start now? ". And when I think of the furry style and ponies and horses, how could you draw them in that style? It'd be super awkward.

Okay, I never understood why this conflict started. Why would bronies hate furries at all? Do bronies like it when people attack them? No, they don't. Furries are just as misunderstood both online and in the media as bronies. People call them animal rapists, people call us either faggots or pedophiles. They have yiffers, we have cloppers. They are thought to be sexual deviants, people think we are homosexual manbabies.

In both of these two fandoms, the bad that exists is among the only thing that people seem to focus on. People make up lies if they can't find anything bad. People in society and in the media turn a blind eye to the good things both of these groups do and try to make them social pariahs. Many similarities exist in the groups, including the fact both groups are a fan of some form of animal with anthropomorphic qualities. The greatest similarities these groups share are clear: They both fight off the incredibly large amount of hate they recieve and they are both groups of people just trying to live their lives as happy people.

And do trust my word on this, I was originally a hater of BOTH of these two fandoms. All I ever had seen of furries was their awful anthro porn, so I thought they were just sick, porn-sketching, animal raping deviants. But guess what? When I delved deeper than the lies that covered the surface, I found there was a whole other side to furries (A much large side), and it was just people living their lives in happiness and having fun in their own unique way. And you know what? Now I'm a furry.

And when I first came across bronies, I hated their guts. I took every opportunity to fire out insults at them, going out of my way to endlessly call them fags. And I called them fags a LOT. Eventually, I felt wrong in insulting a group I knew nothing about. So I decided to check an episode out. Didn't like the intro, felt kind of weird and gay, but once the ACTUAL animation hit, I was impressed enough I was going to give the whole episode a chance. When it ended, I found out it was a two parter, so I finished it. Over the next four days, I caught up to the most recent episode at the time, which was the 18th episode of Season 2. I was hooked. It was funny, and great. Once I got into the fandom deeper, the fan content blew me away, and I decided to stay. I started off as a rigid hater, but now I am a brony.

With both furries and bronies, I started off with blind hatred and extreme prejudice. But I went past my cynical xenophobia, and found a depth and a richness to both fandoms, both of which I happily adhere to. Bronies don't have a right to hate a group that is as mocked, reviled, and ostracized as we are. If anything, we should be supportive of those who are cast away, and love and tolerate them. Like our own fandom, they have a bad side, but we shouldn't focus on that. We wouldn't want us to have everyone judge us on our Rule 34 and clopart/clopfiction, would we? No, because that's not what we want the world to think of us as. Just like furries don't want to be judged and presented solely by the acts of yiffers and their own Rule 34 (Mind you, judging anyone for Rule 34 is absurd, as all fandoms have it).

We have never liked being hated, of that I'm sure. But we have overcome it. It's not right contributing to the abuse of another group who has gone through the same crap we have gone through. I could point out just as many things screwed up in this fandom as things in the furry fandom. In all honesty, who are we to judge others in the same way we have been judged?

Applause for you, comrade. Seriously your story brought a ton of great points and I believe that you have defeated ignorance. Well done. The hate and the misunderstanding when it boils down to it are all results of ignorance.

I think Kakei's speech proves that this whole conflict is just a big misunderstanding. I'm a furry and a brony and I can see how both fandoms could start this conflict out of ignorance. I believe the best way is just to ignore the conflict. It'll die down once people realize how stupid it is to be arguing. Plus, you can't really argue with ignorance. It'll just get you frustrated and make everyone unhappy. Hopefully the people that are starting this will realize that and stop. Hatred only brings more hatred. Love and tolerate and you'll get love and tolerance back.

furries are similar to bronies in alot of ways, but furries dont like to admit that, beacuse they want to be special or something, i dunno, i stopped caring about my two favorite fandoms arguments awhile ago XD
