And a lot of them were kinda dicks to begin with, I know because I've watching some of them go through the process of coming and going.

What a terrible generalization!  I know a lot of them who were good people.  Just because you've met a few unsavories doesn't mean they all are.

I didn't say all, I said alot. Because that's been my observation of the situation. I've seen it happen far to much to write it off as nothing. It happens.

I'm surprised that no one's posted this yet.  Let me remind you of this video:

Also, I do understand that not everyone will act like this.  There are probably people who actually will leave the fandom over EqG.  However, I think that we'll still have plenty of bronies to support the fandom.  I can only hope that none of those who leave are people that I know...

No, if they are truly fans of the show they won't care about a spin-off movie that means literally nothing to the series.  So no not at all.

I wish I could say that it meant nothing to the series, but its probably going to be so prominent that they'll go so far as to even reference it during the actual show.

If this happens, its going to destroy (or seriously harm) the essence of the show.

Also, you can be a "true fan" who leaves the fandom if some of your main reasons for liking it are eliminated.

In theory, the fandom could break off into two seperate fandoms.  One that accepts all of the change that Hasbro is forcing down our throats, and one that reveres the old content for all that its worth.  Personally, I would be a part of the second one.

I'm not going to submit to something that I think is sub-par just for the sake of optimism.

This is how I feel. Nobody left after the whole Alicorn Drama. The episode was great, even though some were saying it was awful.

This Equestria Girls movie will be awesome. First Meghan McCarthy is writing this, so we know the writing is gonna be top notch. Second M.A. mother bucking Larson is writing the songs, and third all the orginal cast is coming back! If any bronies walk out, they're gonna miss one hell of a movie.

But, if they leave they leave. We gather more and more bronies everyday

Um, excuse me for correcting you, but Daniel Ingram makes the songs, not M.A. Larson. Ingram will be making the songs for Equestria Girls. M.A. Larson is a writer.

Its just one little movie. I think the rage fans are overreacting.

We'll have a limited release in theaters, a DVD release, and a TV release.

If you don't like it, don't watch it. I liked the trailer, it allayed my fears.

Bottom line: relax. Its not gonna bite you. it will soon be over.

Would you just cut it out? When there were just a rumor that "ponies goes through a magic mirror and becoming a humans" there was a shitstorm about leaving a fandom. When HasBro posted a first picture of humanized ponies there was a shitstorm about leaving a fandom. Now they posted a trailer - please do not trying to burn shitstorm again! This is just a spin-off after all, of show that everypony loves. It could be well actually. Or it could be "the best show ever". You'll never know that if you are not going to give it a peek. But talking about leaving a fandom becouse of it? Pfff just ridicilous.

Let me explain something. I know this from experience, okay? If you keep giving in to that pessimistic and cynical attitude it will chew you up and spit you out. You will reach a point where you find so much fault in everything you loose you'll ability to enjoy anything.

They're most likely are going to say, "I'M LEAVING THE FANDOM", then come crawling right back. Just like the Twilicorn incident. img-1461803-1-dry.png

You have a point. To leave the brony fandom just because of something you don't like is the fandom version of running away from home.

You'll get bored, you're gonna FIND YOURSELF missing the fandom, and eventually, and you'll just go back.

Earl Grey once said that you can't "leave" a fandom. A fandom isn't like those clubs or groups you see. She's got a point.

Yeah but you can't just let people take advantage of you.  If I don't like something and I believe that the show would be better off without it, I'm going to voice my opinion in hope of being a part of that "collective opinion," which may have the power to make a difference.

One good example of this is after the British company "JAGEX LTD."  changed their MMORPG "Runescape" in a way which was unsatisfactory to a subgroup of their players.  The players became so upset that the game has changed so much, they began to voice their opinion on it and eventually the news reached Jagex HQ.  Jagex appealed to this subgroup of consumers by re-releasing an older "2007" version of the game that this subgroup of players enjoyed.  Putting these servers up took money, time and effort but Jagex felt obliged to appeal to their loyal old-school players.

Not saying that Hasbro is as generous as this company.  It has entirely different people at the head; but in my opinion, voicing my thoughts is worth a shot.  :)

Nah, its just going to be a new movie, which should not effect the main mane show in anyway. I don't think people will leave because of that. People are getting upset over nothing....

For everyone who thinks it's going to be bad, why not watch it and give it a chance? Who knows, you might like it. (Doesn't that remind you of something?)

But that's the key, it's not "taking advantage of me" if I like what they're doing with it. The flaws you're pointing out in the show are entirely subjective ones.

A objective story flaw would be Highlander II, or fare worse, the Source. because they completely ripped the plot and mythology a new one and went against every single thing established in the show and movies. Immortals can't kill on holy ground? One does it, Part of the point is immortals being supernatural and mysterious, and so shrouded in myth that don't even know where they came from? Let's make them aliens and throw all that out. Hell, while were add it let's add "the source" and say it's every immortals goal to find it, despite the fact it's never been brought up before, even by the character you say has been obsessed with it for centuries.

If you leave the fandom because of a measely spin-off, then you probably weren't loyal enough to stick around for very long anyways.

And that's what I'm saying;  I shouldn't have to adapt to what others think is alright or acceptable just so that I can live a lie and accept everything that's gone wrong.  If I don't agree with something, I'm going to give my damnedest to change it for the better, even if that means just altering it slightly.  This is why I want my opinion, and the opinions of others who agree to be voiced.

Which I don't disagree with, what I'm saying is people will more inclined to listen if you tone it back a bit and voice that opinion more calmly instead of making sound like a warning of doom.

Nope, and I wouldn't care in the slightest if 90% of the fandom 'quit'. I still thoroughly enjoy the series as a whole, and could care less about people overreacting and complaining about how downhill the show is getting. A majority of people in the fandom wouldn't have even made a seat for their backside over MLP aside from FiM.
I enjoy the series, and that's all that matters to me.

Really?  Could you imagine Paul Revere casually walking down the streets of Boston sipping his morning tea saying nicely and monotonically "the British are coming."  He sure would get his point across wouldn't he.

That's real life danger and oppression vs. changes made to a TV show, biiiiiiiiiig difference between the two. There' times for fighting the oppressor, and times for calmly discussing the merits of a change vs it's potential negative impact and the relationship between them and risks vs the rewards, this is the later.

I honestly don't give a flying feather about EQ or even how it effects the fandom. I'm just excited to see season 4 and our new princess Twilight Sparkle. God Save the Princess. :-)

Sometimes, the only way people will listen to what you have to say is if you make it seem like you care.  I wasn't making it sound like a "warning of doom," but I was expressing my opinion in a way such that I would be able to grab the attention of others.

And just because the Paul Revere example is about something more serious doesn't make it not relevant.  There are thousands of other examples about less serious things.

Which with all the drama flying around, the opposite of flashy is more eye-catching. Voicing a calm and intelligent one will make people listen and thank Luna someone sane showed up.

Think about it..

If you never disagreed with me on what was said above, but you also don't agree with my stance on the whole Twilicorn + EG thing, then why would you care about who listens to my opinion?
