So much win. Everyone should do this.

For those who don't know, there's a lot of hype going around about how the CEO of clothing company Abercrombie & Fitch openly admitted to not wanting 'fat' people wearing his clothes, or working in his stores. He claimed that would damage his company's image when "attractive" people saw "unattractive" people wearing the same clothes as they were.

Well, someone figured he'd go and change their image for them... by donating all the A&F clothes he could find to the homeless.

This is so full of win. I already go to Goodwill anyway because I'm hipster, so I'm going to do this the next time I stop in there. I urge every brony with the time and resources to do the same. After all, if anyone should be doing things like this, it's the loving and tolerating bronies.

AM I RIGHT? biggrin.png

Also because Rainbow Dash would never stand for something like this.

Boy I would hate to be that guy's employee, being required to be all-time gorgeous and all. This is a marketing disaster looming on the entire company. Hilarious ZlCHy.png

And what does RD has to do with it?

And shouldn't a fully loving and tolerating Brony try to love and tolerate Mike Jeffries for his unusual antics? :?

I don´t know, I heard about it, but this try to "start a revolution"/ "chgange the image of A & F" is just a bit ridiculous to me.

It´s not cool and not a good idea from the CEO to say things like that in public, but after all it is his decision which image he wants to have. Just by saying that (without all the reactions of people going: "ermahgursh, I have to show how good of a person I am now, sooo unfair, let´s crush A & F, vive la revolución!" no offense) he damaged his own companies image enough, look at all the negative publicity this sentence gets...

He sure does by now regret saying that, but 1. actions like that won´t make him change his mind and 2. hurr durr herp derp

Well I figured Rainbow Dash would never stand by and watch a bully like him say stuff like that.

...and okay. I'll give him just a teensy-weensy bit of love and tolerance, because bullies like that are usually insecure anyway. Still, having been bullied myself when I was in school, for never being able to fit in with the "cool kids," it strikes home for me. I will give him a bit of pity because you asked... but that won't change my desire to see him go broke. :P

Don't worry, no offense taken. We're all adults here, we all have opinions. :)

He might regret it, he might not. In my experience with people like that, it takes a fifty-ton anvil falling on someone's head to make them realize what they said. I just believe people like that deserve whatever comeuppance they may get; and frankly, I don't mind helping to make sure they get it. wacko.png

One reason I find this so interesting (and appalling) is because I was always taught the old school business concept that if you take care of your customers, they will take care of you... and blatantly insulting three-quarters of the country is hardly taking care of your customers. So many businesses have done stuff like this in the last few years: General Motors, Netflix, and now these guys. And it always leads to hard hits to their profits, if not a slow and painful meltdown. I will be very surprised if this doesn't go down as one of the major business blunders of the decade.

A hipster?!img-1470040-1-blink.png  PURGE. PURGE.

Kidding.

Anyway, I might do this, except 1) That would require me to put down money for Abercrombie & Fitch apparel and 2) I could give homeless people better clothes for equal or less money

Addendum: Going off what you said in one of your replies, I definitely believe that how a company treats customers is everything, and in that regard, Abercrombie & Fitch are some of the worst, even before all this. Slapping their logo on mediocre clothing and charging more.

They're like the EA of the clothing industry.

Well I suppose if the company wants to shoot itself in the foot like that they are welcome to do so, I love the idea for the "brand readjustment" it is a clever way to expose an extremely shallow and hypocritical policy and help people at the same time.

An interesting idea. Exposing the ugliness of A&F's and getting some donating done in the process. Despite that, I just can't help but feel like this is a little exploitative towards the homeless since the campaign is using the homeless to give A&F a new, unwanted, image; the homeless get some clothes out of it but end up being the butt of the joke. I understand that Greg Karber may be using the homeless since they're exactly the type that A&F's CEO doesn't want to see wearing the A&F brand. In that light, I guess you could make an argument that this is a campaign that takes an exclusive brand and makes it more inclusive. Overall, I have mixed feelings about the whole thing.
