Bloomberg Vs. Tom

Ok, right now there is a mini war going on in Sir.Flutter Hooves status update about who is better; Tom the Diamond (apparently he is a rock to some) or Bloomberg the Tree. So I decided to create a thread for the two best characters of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic to decide who is better. Vote above and tell reasons below.

 

 

I'll go with Bloomberg on this. While Tom was pretty cool, nothing can compare to Bloomberg's amazing ballad in his episode. He also appeared before Tom in an episode. Plus, he has his own private train cabin which is something Tom never got. Bloomberg is just so awesome.

And then Tom, being a very charitable fellow, would hand out Bloomberg's splinters as toothpicks.

Bloomberg is an apple tree, he can provide that of which Tom cannot. What are these things you may ask? He gives his supporters shade, free food and most importantly listens to your problems unlike that heartless rock called Tom.

Well to say the least, I never really even heard of these characters before. But of course that doesn't mean I can't yodel my opinion high into the streets on this topic! 

 

I'll have to go with Tom on this one. Why you ask? Well, I do have a buddy named Tom who is pretty darn groovy pops and the name Tom rhymes with "Van" and I love myself a good well constructed automobile such as a van, or a mini-van.

 

Why not this "Bloomberg" well i'll tell you. The only Bloomberg I have ever really heard of was that business channel on the television. I wasn't too cracked up about that channel. Who needs to know about current events into today's financial & economic structure?! Nobody, that's who! Plus, I guess a Michael Bloomberg is the current mayor of New York, I'm not sure if they are related in any way, but this still wouldn't change my vote based on: "Because Van".

Please. Bloomberg has refined his intelligence to levels incomprehensible to one such as Tom through long reading sessions with Applejack. Tom would have his weaknesses exploited and crumble to dust while Bloomberg lives on to bear delectable fruit for generations of Earthies and buffalo alike

All Tom can do is break and slowly disintegrate with time. He only has the power to destroy.

Bloomberg can grow and become a good home to other life. He will eventually die, but he will have offspring.

 

Plus plants break rocks apart with their roots.

Bloomberg's legacy will live on through his children.

Everyone truly dies twice. Once quite literally, and once when he or she is thought of for the last time. It happens to everyone who dies.

That makes perfect sense if you think about it logically. Trees drop seeds, seeds become trees. Rinse and Repeat.

Fair point, but remember that those trees are not Bloomberg specifically... So you could argue that his "legacy" will live on, but he himself will be forgotten eventually.

 

Another honest question: How does Rarity coming to her senses say anything about Tom's character.

The episode doesn't focus on what happened to Tom after the breakup, but we know he went from unconditionally loved to not cared for. You can't go through something like that without growing in character.
 

Tom is rock. Tom was a smoke screen created by Discord, nothing more.

Bloomberg is a tree. He grew out of the ground and was transported to a new orchard, nothing more.

Bloomberg stopped existing as a character after he was moved to Appleloosa. The argument I am making here is that Bloomberg's heart is no bigger than Tom's, regardless of "living" status.
