music Soundgarden's Chill-out thread

Chill-out is basically an umbrella term for following genres. Any of these genres or any similar genres qualify as Chill-out music and are fine to discuss here:

Ambient/Dark Ambient

Downtempo

IDM  (Sue me)

Future Garage

Future House

Trip Hop

Chillwave

Ambient House

Chillstep

Post-Dubstep is acceptable

I'll start this thread with something from my favorite Future Garage album: "II:MMX" by Clubroot. Probably the best track off that album:

I wish I could contribute more to this thread, but alas I don't listen to any of these genres(yet). I think I'm going to start bridging that gap.

I do know one ambient song at the moment(I like to wiki any new songs I hear to find out their genre).

Porcelain by Moby

Really interesting song

That was quite interesting. When it comes to ambient, I usually stick to The Orb or Aphex Twin. I just recently heard Asa & Stumbleine, which I will look into in the future (though I would call it Downtempo, but whatever)

Progressive House is not something that belongs in this thread, but those songs were chill enough I guess. Try to stick to the real Chill-out genres instead

You are a man of great taste. Porcelain is one of my favorite songs from Moby.

Chill-out stuff is definitely awesome. Here's some chill-out music I like:

Anyways, I'll post my favorite Downtempo song

Btw, where is Moog when you need him...

meh, i thought I remember was alright, but Faxing Berlin IS my favorite, but the actual thing is too short, so i had to look up an extended version

This is one of Deadmau5' songs that doesnt fall into the Pro House, but is still relaxing, but i dont like it but here you go anyways...

its,a little Suggestive when you listen to the vocals and the title blink.png  that's why i dont like it a lot but i dont know about you though...

Hey Soundgarden, I'm kinda starting to get into this electro stuff. So far I like stuff like this.

Do ya know anything else I might like?

Huzzah, Dawn is starting to like Electronic music :3

But that song you posted is IDM, which is more of Moog's area of expertise, but I can give a recommendation or 2

Aphex Twin is someone you should look into

This is probably something you're looking for

Though this is isn't very similar to what you posted, maybe you'll like Nightmares on Wax?

I also posted a Downtempo song just above (Wickethewok - Deepecho) which you might like :)

I'm already familiar with Aphex Twin because of Moog lol, and do like it. About the song I quoted, at first I thought it was a bit meh, but then it strated to grow on me to the point where I started liking it. I didn't listen to the third song you posted though (not yet at least).

Yea, the third song is a Trip-Hop song, that's why I was unsure if you would like it or not since it's very... trippy

Anyways, I'll post some Future Garage, one of my favorite Future Garage albums to be exact. Plenty of UK Funky and 2-Step there, but it still qualifies as Future Garage

I finally found this thread, it seemed to be hidden quite well. I give my respects to the person who posted Moby, one of my favorite Trip-Hop artists.

Anyways leaving some stuff here

Some depressing dark ambient/minimalist electronica/post punk, type stuff. Really never figured what to classify it as. Both these bands are projects of Roman Sidorov, a brilliant Russian musician who took his own life a few years ago. Damn shame, but he left some great music behind.

I hope someone else in this thread finds it interesting, Sidorov is one of my all-time favorite musicians whom I never get to talk about or share with others.

If you are intrigued, here's a link to get most of his recordings.

Wow, that was definitely one of the best Dark Ambient songs I've heard in a while, I have to check out more of Roman Sidorov's work

But when it comes to Dark Ambient, I usually stick to Sabled Sun

Hm, btw Moog, do you like Future Garage? Seems like a genre that would suit you

And you like Post-Dubstep, so have some Zomby. He usually makes Future Garage, but this track feels more like a Post-Dubstep hybrid

I've heard of Future Garage though I haven't bothered to check out the genre yet. That Clubroot song wasn't that bad at all, I'lll probably look into some more Future Garage

And I might as well leave Portishead

I'll leave some stuff from my favorite Future Garage artist, Phaeleh. His music feels really unique. It proves that chill tracks doesn't have to be slow as hell

That pic is so awesome :3

  • 2 weeks later...

The fact that this thread is dead, makes me sad, but anyways I heard rumors of a guy named Tycho who sounds a lot like Boards of Canada, so I decided to give him a try.

It does have a bit of a BoC touch to it, though it isn't even half as good as BoC.

Well that's obvious, nothing beats Boards of Canada. I still liked that song a lot.

Anyways, I'll post some freaking awesome IDM/Ambient here in form of Melorman. Extremely underrated in my opinion

This is perhaps the best Ambient track I have ever heard

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m6lo5sAM4KQ

Here's a more IDM influenced track by him

Wow, if only I had found this while we were discussing Dark Ambient before, some of the best stuff that I've heard

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RLZsD1lwGVs

Also one of my favorite Squarepusher tracks he makes Drum'n'Bass actually sound good, probably due to how it's mixed with IDM.
