gaming Pokemon X and Y Discussion Thread

I wanted more Kalos pokemon.. All I see pretty much is old pokemon....I was expecting more pokemon then THAT.. ugh..kinda sad. ^^" Are there more?

 

There are 68 completely new Pokemon in the Kalos region. There are also a few dozen old Pokemon that are getting Mega Forms, which technically make them new Pokemon. It's already been confirmed that none of the new Kalos Pokemon will be getting Mega Evolutions. That being said, you are able to catch ~450 Pokemon in the Kalos region so you have much more variety at your disposal than you've ever had in any other Pokemon game.

All these Mega Evolutions are getting better and better...though I'm still on the fence about Heracross and Manectric. They just look kinda weird to me. Also, why were Banette and Medicham given Mega Evolutiona? I get why some of the most popular Pokemon like Blaziken, Mewtwo and Tyranitar (and Gyarados much to my chagrin) are given upgraded forms, but neither Banette or Medicham seem popular enough to me to warrant a mega form.

There are 69 pokemon in the Kalos region, plus all the Mega Evolutions and stuff. It's most likely because they're just testing out the 3D thing and also had to make 3D models for the other 649 pokemon. I'm sure generation 7 will include more pokemon than this generation.

 

Still, I was really curious at what they would do. Compared to other versions, they seemed to lag. I'm getting X still, but...seems like I expected a little more.

I don't think Ampharos is very popular (although he absolutely should be) but he still got a Mega Evolution. I think they're just trying to make old pokemon seem more relevant and appealing.

Mega Heracross... that's gotta be one of the most ridiculous Pokémon I've ever seen, not really fond of it.

Mega Pinsir looks amazing though, as does Mega Alakazam, Banette, and Houndoom.

none of the new ones look particularly interesting and manetric is the most unusual one there in my opinion

 

also, it looks like the mega stones can only be found between 8pm and 9pm

Noticed my programming tutor was playing X in between questions. Said he downloaded Japanese version (since he doesn't like translations). Anyhow, was nice to glance some game play in real life. Looking forward to starting my journey tomorrow.

 

Most of my work was finished early this week, so should get some good playtime in

 

Love the new Mega-Evolutions I'm seeing; especially Gardevoir and Alakazam! My psychic team can adapt as needed...well, more than it already could anyway

It is perfect for me too. I've got a four day weekend coming up so I will have lots of time to play. I was planning on choosing the fire started but now I am going for the grass. (Still haven't learned the names of the starters.)

I'm assuming the game can have team members to join or battle anytime?

I wouldn't mind that. I actual plan on playing through X with strategy in mind and I would be nice to have someone to battle with to see how I am doing.

It also seems like they can only be used after 8 PM. I don't think Serebii gave a time that it ends at, but I'm assuming it will be 9 pm as well.

Sounds great to me. I'm not really clear on those features either, but there's definitely a reason we have friend codes.

OMG this needs to be a thing though. Imagine Alicorn Rapidash! That would be awesome! Seriously Game Freak needs to make this a thing.

But imagine if they screw it up like Heracross. My favorite pokemon would be ruined.

I'm pretty sure they would not only add a pair of wings and a bigger horn. Knowing Gamefreak, it will be something with fire everywhere, and useless, ugly details.

Well, as it turns out, that rumor is true. According to Serebii.net, Inkay evolves into Malamar at level 30 but only while holding the 3DS upside down. This isn't the only unique evolution method either. Pancham evolves into Pangoro at level 32 but only if there is a Dark type Pokemon in your party.

In order to have Eevee evolve into Sylveon, you have to max your bond with it in Pokemon Amie and then have it level up in battle.

most of these mega evo designs aren't that exciting /=| I'd like to know what kind of stat or ability changes they come with

I wonder if they're gonna keep adding mega evos in subsequent gens
